Trouble In River City

The latest New York Times/CBS poll has Sen. Barack Obama leading Sen. Hillary Clinton nationally -- 50%-38%.
But Rev. Jeremiah Wright lingers.
The Times reports that "nearly half of the voters surveyed, and a substantial part of the Democrats" said that Obama condemned and distanced himself from Wright "because he thought it would help him politically, rather than because he had serious disagreements with his former pastor. The broader effect of the controversy on Mr. Obama’s candidacy among Democratic primary voters was less clear in the poll, but enough of them expressed qualms about Mr. Obama’s relationship with Mr. Wright to suggest it could sway a relatively small but potentially important group of voters in the remaining primaries."
Even worse news for Obama comes in the free newspaper outside his hotel door this morning.
In the latest USA Today/Gallup poll Obama goes from 10 points up two weeks ago to seven points behind.
In February Democrats and those who leaned Democrats thought Obama -- by 33 points -- was more likely to beat Sen. John McCain in November. Clinton now leads in that category by five points.
Other poll findings:
"One in four Americans who are following the controversy say their 'best guess' is that Obama agrees with Wright's views, even though the senator has said repeatedly he finds them offensive and wrong. Obama has lost the 8-point advantage he held over Clinton in February as someone who 'shares your values.' Clinton has a 5-point edge among Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents."
The rare good news: His favorable/unfavorable ratings are still better than Clinton's -- 58%-37% compared to Clinton's 52%-45%. And he leads Clinton by 14 percentage points as honest and trustworthy.

If all of the primaries could be re-done WITH the knowledge that we have now of Obama and Rev. Wright the outcome would be drastically different. Hillary would be the candidate already.
If the Democratic Party wants a re-play of the McGovern disaster, they'll get it - if Obama is chosen as the candidate.
It's either Hillary or McCain in '08

John McCain's best days are behind him!
Obama all the way!

and questioner
she got healthcare for these children ...take a look at the early formation of those policies...
she has also killed the healthcare chance for many with her back door, overwhelming, and unpassable plans.
She takes credit for the s-chip that she didn't want initially... it was somebody else who made that happen.

Yep...these distrations will keep voters stuck on stupid. Just what the republicans and hillary and bill clinton want.
lol we obviously need to fix our education system.

The NYT/CBS Poll actually shows Clinton leading Obama among Democrats. It is only when they cut it down to only 283 "likely" voters that Obama has this, excuse me for laughing, 12 point lead. It looks like the black vote was heavily overweighted in this small sample. One thing stands out though -40% of Clinton supporters said they would NOT vote for Obama.

Barack voted for it on a state level when it was a new idea...
it didn't work...clinton knows it does not work and she is using people's fears and needs to win her candidacy...
not only that she can't push through a windfall profits tax within the next year or two...a tax which she has already allocated those funds somewhere else...
she is lying to the people of this country again...
and that is disgusting...
not to mention putting america's roads and bridges at greater risk... all in the name of her being President ...
she is not about the voters until fighting for their needs helps her career. If this primary has shown us anything over and over she is Marie Antoinette. Calls the other guy the elitist all the while using voters problems just to win her election.

Obama is crumbling. Unelectable. Please get over the infatuation and let's get back to the real fighters who know how to lead.

Obama voted for this same relief three times in Illinois.
Hillary, has already initited legislation for protection from the oil companies..... whose CEO's amass millions each year (or is it billions?)
In any case, why do you find it revolting when somebody other than barry
votes for the very same thing..... Is it because he never goes further than opening his mouth?
As for Hillary's Health Care Program, it's the only one that can be called "Universal" and unless you are a psychic you cannot state as fact that it will not succeed.
You neglect to mention that she has already gotten health care for 6,000,000 children.
What has Obama accomplished aside from empty promises and the record of a deceitful senator in Illinois. (Alice Palmer, Rezko, earmark perks winding up at Michelle's place of employment.... ad nauseum).
These are some of the reasons I wil vote for Hillary!

You need to marry Pastor Wright ...that's all you can talk about. How about national security being compromised by one woman's stupi obliterate and massive retaliation with nuclear war comments...
or an economic proposal that is first ...not based in fact... and second can't find a SINGLE economist to back it up.
who cares about a freakin pastor when she keeps sending the country into a worse situation all in the name of her being president.
Let us know where you and Pastor Wright are registered.

Obama supported whatever Wright said-until he said that Obama was a politcian saying things because he had to.THAT was the deal breaker. Everyone else whites, Jews, women, were fair game for Wright, but not Obama.
Posted by: geevill | May 5, 2008 10:24:32 AM
Obama has once again proven that Teflon quality
He has successfully placed Rev.Wright behind him
The polls are favoring him again
He leads by 4 in the Gallup Poll
and by 1 in the Rasmussen Poll
He's regaining his lead

Everything Wright said at his press conference had been reported by the press for some time, so how could Obama have been shocked by what he heard?? Obviously it was the fact that Wright confirmed these horrific statements in a very public, high profile venue and caused major political damage that finally got Obama to fully acknowledge and speak out against them.

the only thing you all can argue on his some pastor ...who cares ...when Hillary in the past two weeks alone has screwed up on Nuclear obliteration (throwing the terrorists a new very effective recruiting tool and Iran a new argument to be allowed to have nuclear development and "defense" with her stupidity and greed in wanting this nomination...and then got caught in promising something that will make our economy and global warning worse...and chances are could damge our infrastructure just at a time when it needs to be fixed)...
but keep saying "wright" and "pastor" over and over...that helps the country.
Get this woman away from any part of our nation's management.

Wow Hillary's brothers will sure make the Whitehouse a respectable place:
Former President Bill Clinton's brother-in-law Tony Rodham helped obtain a presidential pardon for a Tennessee couple last March over the objections of the Justice Department, Mr. Rodham and lawyers involved in the pardon said today.

When are any or you that are dredging on the Rev. Wright situation realize that he is not the one running for president. It is time for you as grown ups to start acting as such. You are refusing to tell the truth most of you anyway and the truth that I am seeing is that most americans are scared as hell that an intelligent well educated black man could possibably win this election and is capable of running this country just as well as any other American can. I am an Obama supporter but in the event his is not chose as the democratic nominee then let it be known without a doubt that no matter how much I may disagree with some of her views Hillary WILL be who I vote for in November.
I have read many articles that have said that Hillary supporters will vote for McCain or stay home if Obama is elected and vice versa. Well all that I have to say about that is go ahead and do what makes you happy, but when you end up having to go through the same stuff that you have gone through for the last 8 year don't complain..............

Pastors say what they have to and politicians say what they have to, to quote Rev. Wright.

The man who tried to soar above politics has been brought back to earth by the same media organizations that helped fuel his spectacular rise. After more than a year of mostly glowing coverage, Barack Obama is having to defend his relationship with the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, his temerity in not sporting a flag pin, even his arugula-loving, bad-bowling, let-me-eat-my-waffle persona.
Barry can not win the GE.
Barry has the new and shinning baggage that takes him nowhere.
Barry will never ever be able to wash the stink of his past with all his "close friends" ever present, at his side, behind his back and WRIGHT up front!
Give it up Barry you are hurting the party, your family and America. RESIGN!

Hillary is not offering relief truly.
She is saying something she knows is false. Anytime the gas tax has been alleviated..the oil companies took a couple of days and then were back up to the same level. This is a horrible solution...
every policy out of her mouth including healthcare will not succeed and is completely being used to get votes for her presidency.
Why does she not have ANY economists backing her plan...because there are none. Period. So as much as you want to call them pundits...again this is the GW Bush policy and government...ignore experts... and pander and/or scare to get your personal agenda forward...in Hillary's case...that is just for her to be President.
She is revolting.

I can guarantee it will be ugly if Clinton and the media has its way.
Remember Jake AT LEAST 50% of the Democrates support Obama, and we expect some balance in the reporting. This trash is making many of us angry. perhaps loss viewers is what is warrented.
