"A Satiric Humorist Named George Carlin Recorded a 12-minute Monologue Entitled 'Filthy Words' Before a Live Audience in a California Theater."
June 23, 2008 8:43 AM
Or so said U.S. Supreme Court Justice Paul Stevens referring to a famous Carlin comedy routine not for the sensitive-souled in what became a landmark case FCC v Pacifica Foundation.
The 1978 verdict: "Court Bans '7 Dirty Words,'" screamed the LA Times.
Carlin, who died yesterday at 71, was an atheist, but I'll say Godspeed anyway.

Mr. Coffee:
I agree. His voice was the best for Thomas the Tank Engine.

Now that's one man I will greatly miss! Funniest human being to ever walk this earth. May he rest in peace.
From the AWESOME mind of George Carlin:
# Religion convinced the world that there's an invisible man in the sky who watches everything you do. And there's 10 things he doesn't want you to do or else you'll go to a burning place with a lake of fire until the end of eternity. But he loves you! ...And he needs money! He's all powerful, but he can't handle money!
# This is a little prayer dedicated to the separation of church and state. I guess if they are going to force those kids to pray in schools they might as well have a nice prayer like this: Our Father who art in heaven, and to the republic for which it stands, thy kingdom come, one nation indivisible as in heaven, give us this day as we forgive those who so proudly we hail. Crown thy good into temptation but deliver us from the twilight's last gleaming. Amen and Awomen.

For those of you with children under 10 his narration of Thomas the Tank Engine episodes is the best in the video series. Of all the narrators he's the only one who seems to provide thoughtful characterizations for the myriad Thomas trains and personalities.
I was amazed when I first saw his work on this series about 15 years ago. They've replaced him since but none were nearly as good.

Weird. I was listening to his album "Indecent Exposure" yesterday and woke up this morning to this news. I'm going to have to regulate my listening tastes.
Carlin made us think and laugh. Some say he was getting mean toward the end but that could be the side effects of sobriety. A sober philosopher is like a jumbo shrimp.
Meanwhile, I'm in the market for Obama's Greatest Hits: Very Old Possum Missus.

Oh come on, he was a great comedian. And very smart too. He made fun of society, in his own way.
