Clinton Vouches for Obama to Pro-Israel Lobby

June 04, 2008 11:21 AM

In a sign that Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, is beginning to make peace with the notion that Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, will be the Democratic presidential nominee, the former First Lady just vouched for her primary opponent to a group he has had some troubles wooing, Jews.

"I know Senator Obama will be a good friend to Israel," she told the pro-Israel group AIPAC, saying that she knows Obama understands the issue.

"And let me underscore that I believe we need a Democratic president in the White House," Clinton said.

Obama's only prayer for a win in November is to ask Sen Clinton to lead the ticket so that he can run for VP!

This is about trying to keep Israel under control and preventing Bush from attacking Iran. But the Democrats, even united, may not be able to stop the worst from happening.

For all those who flame these blogs about Obama being sexist or race-baiting or whatever. Here's an example:

"...That is particularly true for the candidate who has traveled further on this journey than anyone else. Senator Hillary Clinton has made history in this campaign not just because she's a woman who has done what no woman has done before, but because she's a leader who inspires millions of Americans with her strength, her courage, and her commitment to the causes that brought us here tonight.

We've certainly had our differences over the last sixteen months. But as someone who's shared a stage with her many times, I can tell you that what gets Hillary Clinton up in the morning – even in the face of tough odds – is exactly what sent her and Bill Clinton to sign up for their first campaign in Texas all those years ago; what sent her to work at the Children's Defense Fund and made her fight for health care as First Lady; what led her to the United States Senate and fueled her barrier-breaking campaign for the presidency – an unyielding desire to improve the lives of ordinary Americans, no matter how difficult the fight may be. And you can rest assured that when we finally win the battle for universal health care in this country, she will be central to that victory. When we transform our energy policy and lift our children out of poverty, it will be because she worked to help make it happen. Our party and our country are better off because of her, and I am a better candidate for having had the honor to compete with Hillary Rodham Clinton..."

After the "Kitchen Sink" strategy and all the sexist labels flung at Obama do you really think he COULD pick Senator Clinton?

Get real folks.

Posted by: phil from Boston | Jun 4, 2008 4:59:59 PM

Hillary either doesn't know Obama or she's lying in order to be a good little Democrat.

Posted by: HoosierSue | Jun 4, 2008 3:35:05 PM

Hillary, always the professional, HAS to say a few good things about B.O. I say, bring on the GOP "Michelle/Rev Wright Tape" and end B.O.'s "career." Let's get a REAL president. Hillary '08!

Unite the party WOW-- Just take back all the racist/sexist, aging and working class white people belittling and disgusting remarks, Senator Obama.

Quite honestly, I don't think Obama can pick Hillary for VP right now. I believe she has given him no choice but to let the dust settle here a bit.

Could she pick him as her running mate after all she's said?

Can a ex-President with two terms under his belt be selected as VP?

Hillary Clinton is STUNNING!!!

You have just witnessed the greatest political campaign fight in American history. One for the textbooks, and the history books. Hillary Clinton fought her heart out against all odds to win for all of the American people . While at the same time doing her best to prepare Sen. Barack Obama to win in November if he was the nominee. STUNNING!!! WELL DONE HILLARY CLINTON. WELL DONE! Your AMAZING! :-)

Sen. Obama could not have had a better opponent than Hillary Clinton. Nor could he have had a better opponent to prepare him for the battle royal to come against John McCain and the Republicans ahead of the November elections. Hillary Clinton was like a big Mama cat determined to teach her kitten how to hunt, and hang with the big dogs for the fights ahead.

And how about Bill Clinton, Chelsea, and th whole Clinton team. They were magnificent. They really showed their metal. BRAVO! TEAM CLINTON... BRAVO!

And how about YOU! my fellow Americans. I'm so proud of you. And proud to be one of you. You showed what you are made of. And what makes America so great. You never gave up on your Champion Hillary Clinton. Time, and time again you eagerly waited your turn to vote for Hillary Clinton. To pick her up and pass her along down the line to the rest of your fellow Americans.

You never gave up on her. Just as Hillary Clinton never gave up on you. No matter how many times they counted her out. No matter how many times they brutally knocked her down. You knew she would get back up. And you were ready to support her when she did. AMERICA LOVES A FIGHTER. AMERICA UNDERSTANDS A FIGHTER. AMERICA IS A FIGHTER. I'M PROUD OF YOU AMERICA!

Hillary said she would accept the VP spot on the ticket if ask. And I am thrilled to hear that. I think it would be crazy not to take her up on that offer. You could not have a better VP than Hillary Clinton. Hillary Clinton is Sen. Obama's best chance of winning the Whitehouse in November. And it is essential that the democrats take back the Whitehouse.

The American people are in a very desperate condition now. George Bush has wrecked America, and much of the world.

YOU MADE US VERY PROUD HILLARY CLINTON! :-)

WE LOVE YOU...

jacksmith... Working Class :-)

p.s. I really liked Sen. Barack Obama's speech in Minnesota. I think he just maybe ready now for the Bush Republican attack machine, dirty tricks, and vote fraud machine. :-)

In the past, Senator Obama has made speeches in support of pro PLO causes. He still has very close friends and supporters who are for Palestine and against Israel. Do your homework people. You have been mislead--maybe lied to is a better expression.

Posted by: Mary | Jun 4, 2008 2:11:01 PM

It is in Obama's power to unite the party. He needs only pick her as VP and we will be invincible. If he should be arrogant enough to believe that a large percentage of Hillary supporters will indeed vote for McCain he will be handed the loss he richly deserves. You Obama supporters want unity? Put your money where your mouth is.

Senator Clinton and President Bill Clinton are about to show us what great leaders they are really are by fully accepting the results of the Democratic Primary and by supporting the campaigh of Barack Obama.

If they can do that (and I fully expect that they will) it is now our job to cease all of this silly inter-party squabbling about rules (my god folks where were you in 2000 and 2004 when the two biggest voting debacles in the history of the country occurred?)

Time to move on, get the Republicans out of Washington, and see what we can do to repair our broken transportation and energy infrastructure, our reputation abound the world, and rebuild our military strength to protect the poor and disadvantaged peoples around the world.

We have a tremendous opportunity here - and I hope that Brack Obama can do it. After 40 years of voting, I hope that he can make the changes we've always wished for. I know McCain isn't going to take us there.

Posted by: dennis | Jun 4, 2008 1:39:32 PM

catleya, Barack Obama had nothing to do with the rules and by laws committee. If you want to help dont vote at all if your that upset. You would be very silly to vote for Mccain if you care for this country's future. Iraq war was started on a premise that they had WMD's, which we later found out was a lie. Innocent people have been killed n both sides and it's about time we conclude this. Obama will protect our mainland and pay attention to serious Israeli threats such as Iran.

Obama -08-

Debra,

I know, we've been waiting for the tape.
I did not want to watch his speech yesterday night but I was kind of curious what he was going to say.
So I watched him for a few minutes.
I looked at him the way he gave the speech exactly like he was preaching at a church.

This morning I keep thinking why the whole country ( I mean Americans), very easy to be fooled by speeches
They just forget about his relation with terrorists, controversial pastor etc.

In my conclusion, I think even the REP releases the whitey tape, people (I don't want to say I****) would dismiss and forgive her.

WOW!!! Please Democrats lets unit behind Barack Obama now that he is our Nominee. Obama didn't disrespect the democratic voters. He wanted to play by the rules the democratic comitte put in place, and so does Hillary. The asertion that Obama has been throwing Hillary under the bus is just so preposterous. The policies that John Mccain has put forward.. esp the war in Iraq cannot be more different that Barack Obama or Hillary. Let us put this behind us and move forward. Vote Barack Obama in November

Posted by: AndreinFL | Jun 4, 2008 12:55:22 PM

She is not trying to protect him but she cares about the 18 millions of her supporters.
she is afraid Obama would do something stupid and would say " That is not what I meant."
You know by the time , it will be too late.

Just like you apply for a job and you qualify for the job.
Somebody else apply the job and uses some recommendations and come directly talk to the boss.
The boss listens to the recommendations and take your rival instead of you.
It happens a alot and this is what happen to the Dem now.

I'm done with the Dem.
Bye..bye,,Dem..

Posted by: catleya | Jun 4, 2008 12:45:03 PM

I really believe the Democratic party has ruined theirselves!!! Plain and simple. People are defecting left and right since their decision to steal from Hillary and the uncommitted and give them to Obama! We know what is right and we know what is wrong!! It does not matter if it was the other way around..it was the principle of it! Even Obama people should reconize a crime when they see it!!! Shame on you all!!

Posted by: Patty | Jun 4, 2008 12:40:06 PM

Voter,

Please list how Obama, himself, has been disrespectful? I'm not bashing you, just want to know.
