Clintons Return from Vacation, Barely Mention Obama in Public Statements

June 23, 2008 12:26 PM

We took a look this morning on Good Morning America at those remaining tensions between Sens. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, and Barack Obama, D-Illinois.

In a speech before the U.S. Conference of Mayors, former President Bill Clinton only mentioned Obama once, and that was just to say he was pleased to hear Obama was going to support the COPS program, which Clinton signed into law.

At a commencement address, Sen. Hillary Clinton didn't mention Obama by name once, though she did comment on the trailblazing aspects to her and his campaigns.

**

For what it's worth, last week in Detroit, after some of his supporters booed Clinton, Obama lectured them, even calling to one in a cheaper seat -- "You up there!  Sen. Clinton is one of the finest public servants we have in American life today! She has fought tirelessly to provide children a decent start in life. She has fought tirelessly to make sure that every American has the health care that they deserve. She has been on the right side of just about every battle that we have fought – she has, in her own words, shattered a glass ceiling into 18 million pieces.

"She has lifted up the sights of young women all across America including my two daughters," Obama continued. "She is worthy of our respect, she is worthy of our honor. She is going to be at the forefront of bringing about change in America. And I am so proud to have run against Hillary Clinton in this primary season. And she’s tough! That’s why this race took so long. She’s a fighter and we need fighter in the Democratic party. Because we’ve got a lot to fight for. There’s a lot worth fighting for. I’m a better candidate because Sen. Clinton ran and we were able to organize in every state, all across this union and boost turnout and get young people involved all across America because of this long primary.  So this has been a good thing."

Of course, it's easier to be gracious when you win.

The Obama supporters are begging voters not to vote for Senator McCain because it would be four more years of Bush's policies. At least we haven't been attacked again since 9/11. Can we be sure we won't be attacked again if Obama is elected president?

As always, the Clintons feel that they are owed. Her campaign debt is an obvious example.

Full disclosure: I gave to all the Democratic candidates except Clinton, Kucinich and Gravel.

Can someone tell me why I should help the Clintons - with their $100+ million - dig themselves out of campaign debt??? Why should I, a clerical worker, help out a couple who's debt is one-fifth of what they own? The Clintons could lose $20 million and never miss it.

Obama should be censured by the U.S Senate for defacing the Great Seal of America. Especially for changing the entire message it conveys. Read the articles from NewsMax magazine.

1. Totally delusional... those expecting the Clintons to be groveling-losers. You are still all over the web with digs at Hillary, Bill, AND their supporters... yet you expect everyone you belittle to vote for Obama????

2. Bill Clinton is angry at (and hurt by) Obama and the media for portraying him as a racist. Maybe Obama should SINCERELY apologize. That would be a start, but I do not expect that to happen.

Obama is too embarrassing to vote for.
I can't believe that he is not embarrassed of his lies and deceptions to the American people.

The latest Muslim and Black attack remarks he has made take the cake.
His father is a Muslim so why doesn't he say that?

The black attack was to get blacks angry.

I can't believe he thinks he should be President.
Who can relate to his church and his radical views?

Maybe Hillary can hold her nose and campaign for him.

But....I can NEVER hold my nose and vote for him!!!!!

Don't apologize.

Hillary should stay far far away from Obama. She needs to go back to the Senate and run again in 2012 because neither of the fools running will be in for more than one term.

I'm sure her supporters will cry us a river. HRC will look to her career first and embrace the current political realities and flip.

Why should Hillary heap praise towards Obama on a video for funds? Maybe it was a matter of respect that she left him out.

Posted by: kat | Jun 23, 2008 6:22:00 PM

Why should Hillary and Bill Clinton be more gracious than they have?

The Obama campaign painted them as "racist", Michele Obama said she'd like to "gouge Bill Clinton's eyes out", Michele Obama said "she'd have to think about supporting Hillary Clinton" if she were the nominee, and on and on.

Bill Clinton owes Obama nothing. As far as Hillary Clinton, I'd like to call on every one of her supporters to give $5.00 to her and we can wipe out her debt and tell Obama to take his money and shove it up his ***

Why should she mention him all the times in public?
He has so many SD endorse him and praise him all times.

Sonia Trevino,

Exactly.

OK so Obama is trying to buy senior votes, buy women votes, buy deadbeat dad votes, buy college student votes, . Let's see who's missing. Oh yea, those who are now paying the majority of taxes in this country. Get ready to get taxed to death.

Posted by: danni | Jun 23, 2008 3:56:40 PM

give me a break jake. the clintons have been gracious enough already. hillary gave her endorsement speech and urged her supporters to support obama. at least they have been a whole lot more gracious than TED KENNEDY who refused to shake carter's hand at the convention after losing.
