Democratic Congressman Won't Endorse Obama
June 10, 2008 3:55 PM
Rep. Dan Boren, D-Okla., told the Associated Press today that he has no intention of endorsing Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois.
And Democratic officials do not expect Boren to be the last to refrain from making a show of not backing his party's presumptive presidential nominee -- though Boren says he will vote for Obama for president in November.
Other House Democrats from swing districts -- Democrats who eked out victories in traditionally GOP districts, whom House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., calls her "majority makers" -- may refrain from even attending their party's convention in Denver in August.
Boren noted that Obama had earned the National Journal's controversial rating as "Most Liberal" U.S. Senator in 2007, and saying though he talks a good game on working with Republicans, "unfortunately, his record does not reflect working in a bipartisan fashion."
Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-Illinois, won Boren's congressional district with 66% of the vote during the Oklahoma primary in February. "Our nominee is not my first choice," Boren says.
He adds, "We're much more conservative. I've got to reflect my district. No one means more to me than the people who elected me. I have to listen them."

UPDATE: Obama spox Jen Psaki says, "Unfortunately, Congressman Boren has his facts wrong. Barack Obama has a long history of working across the aisle to get things done and make a difference for working people. He worked with Republicans in the Illinois Senate to provide health care for 150,000 children and parents who didn’t have it, and in the U.S. Senate he’s worked with some of the most conservative members —including Congressman Boren’s Republican colleague from Oklahoma, Tom Coburn — to restore accountability and openness to our government and crack down on the special interests. Senator Obama appreciates the support of Dan Boren’s father, former Governor and Senator David Boren, who is one of Obama’s key national security advisors and a model of tireless bipartisan leadership."

Is anybody else sick of Obama bringing up claims of working across the aisle in Chicago as his main to claim. Good grief, he's been in the Senate almost four years. He's such a phony it's not even funny.
I say let's tell the pollsters and pundits that we're considering Obama because he's a good fistbumper, but that we either sit on our hands when it comes to President, or vote for the other guy, so we can get on with Hillary in four years.

Let the vetting begin.

I don't know about anyone else but I feel used and abused by the democrats.

Obama preach Change. I grew up in the Woodlawn area in Chicago and felt the change of Obama. His change to Woodlawn is move rich people in and poor people out.
We are selling ourselves short by not getting to know the man before we pledge our support. All of my life, I have voted straight Democrat. I can not vote for Obama and the change I have experienced in Chicago.

Lance - I agree. I think it has been a damaging policy to all races. You can't change perceptions that one culture may have of another by legislating;they still harbor the feeling. And it undermines and places a cloud over the countless number of successes that can be attributed to nothing other than due diligence.

If he refuses to endorse him, he probably wont vote for him either (even thought he says he will)

Gblane like I said earlier I am the son of a white woman and a biracial man. I consider myself to be biracial. I believe that the best thing Obama can do is to end affirmative action, we need to be judge based on our merit not our race. I look white, and most people think I am. I think Obama is in a unique position to end the quota system. Make no mistake about it, racism still exist and we need to work on that. I think we have an opportunity here to have a discussion on affirmative action, it is not fair and it needs to be fixed or elimited

LANCE - ACCEPTED. And I apologize for the unnecessary sarcasm. Mia Culpa.

FINALLY !!!
An elected official who actually has the courage to go the way of his constituents, rather than his fellow politicians.....
Are you paying attention Governor Bill Richardson?

>> Lance | Jun 10, 2008 7:51:30 PM::
We can live with that.
Just so long as Obama doesn't win the election!
Country before party!!!

QUESTIONER I agree with one thing that you said. The Clintons are not racists, and to say otherwise is just dishonest. Now to go back to the experience stuff, we only need to go back to FDR to find a president with no prior experience. FDR was also a State senator from NY and he turned out to be a great president. Bill Clinton was a governor with no national experience. We need to chill on that experience stuff.

If mr Dan Boren really represents his constituents than he better vote for Obama. McCain represents the same tired views of Bush and he represents the same corporate America pushing its agendas on the current puppet government. Obama at least isn't tied to the same money that is making the big corporations richer, and us the real Americans afraid to drive their cars because they want to eat.

Didn't you read the Boren's district went for Clinton?
So how does he represent his constituents by voting for the guy they didn't support?
What he does with his own vote is his own business.

To all of the embittered Clinton supporters who plan to vote McCain: Please realize that you are sacrificing your right to complain when the war continues throughout McCain's term in office. Recognize that when McCain puts another conservative justice on the bench, rights will go out the window, as will a woman's right to choose. Most of all, see that your votes that are meant to send a message do NOTHING to advance women's rights.

What's with all these fear mongering Obama zombies?
Word for the day: Nuance.
Then go and re-read McCain's positions.

STUPID B O ATTITUDE FACT #1:
Do you remember how easy it was for him to "diss" his "typical white grandma".... the one who took him in and cared for him for many years... and toss her under the bus?
You're right!
He doesn't "HATE" white people. He is above all that and treats those whites who cannot further his ambitions the same as he would a mushroom...

Namrep...This is the reason the nominee is Obama.

Never heard of this guy, but I did some research about him.
He has always been on republican side, and he still is. He is not a Democrat at all. He is on wrong side. Even some things that republicans don't agree with Bush, this guy Boren did. NOT IMPORTANT AT ALL. HE IS TRYING TO BE JOE LIBERMAN, BUT HE IS JUST A LOOSER WHO DOESN'T KNOW WHAT HE WANTS.
Posted by: BOBSTER | Jun 10, 2008 7:56:16 PM
Yeah, um okay so Obama has reached across the aisle on 2 occasions.
OMG! He's a real uniter.
Maybe people should check out McCain & Hillary's records. They are much more impressive on this issue.
Besides, Presidents don't make legislation. So who cares about legislative experience?

LANCE - you too require a "hooked on phonics" lesson. I never posted ANYWHERE that Obama hated Whites.
Posted by: Gblane | Jun 10, 2008 7:55:45 PM
ATTN: Jen Psaki:
Barack Obama doesn't have a "long history" of anything at all, much less reaching across the aisle! Do your homework!
