Fox News Asks if Michelle and Barack Did a 'Terrorist Fist Jab'

June 09, 2008 9:58 AM

Truly unbelievable. Sen. Barack Obama and his wife Michelle do a fist-bump -- or as Ta-Nahisi Coates explains, what's actually called "giving a person dap," a greeting that you can see Howie Mandell do with contestants on Deal or No Deal -- and Fox News Channel asks if it was a "terrorist fist jab."

I've said this before and I will say it again. Either Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., or Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, could win in November. They are both decent men, able politicians, smart and complex guys, with flaws and different visions and principles.

But many Republicans (and their media surrogates) act as if they believe the only way they can defeat Obama is to demonize him in the most absurd and hysterical ways.

A "terrorist fist jab"? Come on.

- jpt

UPDATE: A McCainiac friend argues that MSNBC does the same type of thing to the presumptive GOP presidential candidate all the time, with Keith Olbermann naming McCain his "worst person in the world," and such. Maybe we should have some sort of contest for Political Punch readers to spot the over-the-top demonizations of Obama and McCain from anchors/reporters.

UPDATE 2: The anchor who made the comment, E.D. Hill, issued an apologize which you can watch HERE.

that you can see Howie Mandell do with contestants on Deal or No Deal --

Howie is a germ freak, will not SHAKE hands and shuns hugs and such.
Most "folks do not DAP as a greeting.

It is a weird thing!

WOW!

When did he sleep?

In the two years since he took office....he has taken a gazillion trips, voted "present" a gazillion times, and "borrowed" and/ or "leaned heavily on" the works of others a gazillion times......

Oh..... and completed the second of his two semi-auto-biographical novels skewed to peak your interest in the person he wants you to believe is him>

(The first was completed during the first years of his state senatorship during which he did NOTHING... unless you want to count logging in the pork bellies.....).

Youve' "done-in" the very best candidate we had.

The DNC is broken!
I will not be force-fed a nominee.

Either fix it.... or watch and weep as many of us walk away from this travesty and take our vote to the other side.

COUNTRY BEFORE PARTY!!!

MCCAIN, IF NOT HILLARY. AT LEAST, HE HAS THE EXPERIENCE. WE DON'T WANT A JOB TRAINEE AS PRESIDENT WHO WILL DO TEH JOB ON A TRIAL-AND-ERROR BASIS AND THAT WILL RELY HEAVILY ON ADVISERS, CONGRESS AND SENATE. NO WAY, JOSE.... LET MCCAIN DO THE INITIAL CLEANUP THEN HILLARY WILL TOTALLY CLEANUP THE SAME WAY THE CLINTONS DID AFTER THE BUSH,SR. LET'S WAIT AND SEE BETWEEN NOW AND AUGUST. DNC MAY STILL CHANGE THEIR MIND IF SOMETHING INTOLERABLE NEGATIVE WILL COME UP ON OBAMA...

Posted by: neil1785 | Jun 9, 2008 2:06:50 PM

Obama will be a mediocre president and might get elected for 2 terms if he can trick Americans into thinking he is doing a good job. But McCain is sure to bomb big time. After 4 years America will be so sick of him they will beg for a new president. And Hillary will be the only choice people will want to make.

We just need to last 4 more years, and then we can have the President that we deserve. Not one who tried to jump ahead, use technicalities and game the process to steal the primary.

The Media is lying about how bad the economy is now. Its pretty darn good for most Americans. Most of us got better jobs during the Clinton years and the economy has dipped, but we are fighters and have rode it out and most of us can last 4 more years.

We have gone so long without Healthcare that we can wait 4 more years for it. We don't want a weak plan like Obama is offering. 100% universal healthcare .. OR NO HEALTHCARE!

We don't want to get stuck with a broken system. Hillary was right to stand up when she was in the White House and say, Universal Healthcare or no Healthcare! Do it right, don't saddle us with a broken system!

Job loss hasn't been that bad, and we all know the lies around how NAFTA is killing America. On average NAFTA has been good for America. Only some places were hit and that is easy to fix with some tweaks to NAFTA that she will make in 2012.

As for Iraq? It sucks, but the soldiers signed up for this. We have done 7 years, 4 more years is the price that Obama, the media and the Democratic Party have inflicted on America. Every soldier who dies, every billions dollars wasted is on the heads of the Democratic Party!

We need a 3 party system. Let the DNC rule the shattered Democratic Party and Hillary spearheads a new party. After the mess McCain is going to make of the country, the Republican Party will collapse and our new party will come to power.

All we need is someone who will never quit and who fights no matter what the cost or the opposition!

Please donate! The country is going to need Hillarys experience in order to recover after the mess McCain is going to make.

We need Hillary more now than ever!

5. Are you accusing Obama of Marxism? Do you even know what it is?

6. Why wouldn't he?

7. See #6

8. Stupid question.

9. Obama rejects and denounces terrorism.

10. Proof?

11. Wide.

12. Enlighten us.

13. He never made that promise.

14. Her paper isn't racist. That's a slanderous accusation.

NoMcSAME - ahh those are not achievements - especially since they either failed or was part of the reasons Republicans lost in 06!
Signing onto a bill is not an achievment!!
and signing on to a bill that is unconstitutional is even scarey as was the de-esclatiuon bill - since Congress only has the power to fund or not fund a war, they do not have the authority to dictate troop levels!!

The immigration bill was a failure!!

So try again!!

Mellisa says,
f you couldnt backed obama because of some far right pinned baggage then how could you support hillary? she has baggage too.. what legal right does she have that he doesnt? what has she earned that he hasnt ? what experience does she have that he doesnt? people she not say they are hillary supporters when they cant even stand by her or name why they supported her with out being hypocritical with why they cant support her and her backing obama..
----------

Yes, she has baggage, and it is all out there. She is without doubt the most vetted candidate on the planet. Obama has more baggage than you are ready to deal with. I will be more than happy to supply you with links to info when you are ready. It is really ugly. Especially the "checkboard" stuff that is just getting in the courts. (rezco)

Hillary earned it by working in Senate, working across party lines when needed. She earned it by never, never giving up on health care for all. No matter now that she was mocked for it by Obama.
She earned it because she is a policy wonk. Senators on both sides of aisle will say and have said that she is one of the most knowledgeable on health care, economic policy, etc...

I will support her always.

However she is not my conscience or my God. I have the right, as does every American to support the candidate that I feel is best ready to serve in the intrerests of ALL Americans NOT just his supports and money lenders.

Need more???

Posted by: drae | Jun 9, 2008 1:32:08 PM

Melissa,

I was a democrat. I am now Pacifc Green.

I stand for an honest path to peace. An honest pay to economic recovery. I stand for the founding principles of the domocratic party which includes ALL, not just the voting blocks who help you win.

Today I stand for removing Dean, Brazille, and all on the RBC. Including any who may have supported my candidate.
I stand for cleaning up the muck that has become my party. For never again resorting to smearing one of only two dem Presidents in the last 40 years.

That is President, who did not deserve to have his own party trash him for a unqualified candidate with very questionable associates.

Do you need more Melissa?

Yes Spock, inquiring minds want to know.

"By every account they met once". Typical, one left wing radical supporting another left wing radical. He must have believed in Ayers' cause at some point, because he sought him out. Another one of his "mentors" or father figures?

Posted by: Mack | Jun 9, 2008 1:20:06 PM

Ok All you Obama supporters!! put down the Obama-Aid and answer a few questions and if answered truthfully and without saying Bush or McCain or Republican I will support Obama!!

1 - What true Achievement has Obama ever done for the American People?

2 - Did the Achievement involve taxes being raised and/or his buddies getting money?

3 - What experience does he have?

4 - What is his connections to Marxism?

5 - If you say none to #5 then why did he study under a known Marxist?

6 - Does he believe in the teaching of his church?

7 - If no to #6 why did he stay there?

8 - Does terrorist attacks against us during his adult life only matter?

9 - If answer to 8 is no then why when asked about Ayers did he state it happened when he was a child so it does not matter?

10 - If answer to 8 is yes then why does he have as an advisor a PR person for Hama?

11 - What is is his stance on Liberty?

12 - What religion was he before he converted to Christian?

13 - Will he go for public financing which he promised at beginning of primary?

14 - Will he denounce his wife's racist College paper?

Posted by: spock | Jun 9, 2008 1:16:13 PM

No McSame,

he DID work for Ayers. Anenberg foundation, founded by Ayers. Ayers hired Obambi to serve as CEO on the board.

He was employed by Ayers. He was mentored by Ayers. He is friends with Ayers.

deal with it

Posted by: drae | Jun 9, 2008 1:14:48 PM

The only thing that came to my mind when I saw this was that Obama might name his wife for the VP post. He may be so ambitious that he will go for 4 straight terms of Obama.

1000 letters of action campaign...

Here's mine....

Dr, Dean,

The party that I have taken pride in and supported for years has become a mirror image of the hypocrisy, cronyism, and misogyny of the divisive far right.
I am sorry, I truly am, and deeply hurt by the actions of the DNC, RBC, you, Ms. Brazelle, and the entire Obama campaign and superstructure.
I absolutely can not and will not support Mr. Obama. For so very many reasons (Ayers, Chicago corruption, his supporters in my face yelling) the only reason not being that he is black. It is past time that Americans are given the opportunity to vote for a person of color; however you can not create one and you cannot give him legitimacy. he has to earn it.
This election was not legitimate, it was not legal (in my opinion, and it was not democracy!

I'm an Obama supporter. Why would I threaten him?

I'm stating there is a serious threat against Obama's life and the fact that a foxnews contributor openly joke about is uncalled for.
