Generation J

June 09, 2008 1:29 PM

Christian Broadcasting Network's David Brody broke the story of Sen. Barack Obama's new program, the "Joshua Generation Project," to woo younger Catholics and Evangelicals.

"The Joshua Generation project will be the Obama campaign's outreach to young people of faith," an Obama source told Brody. "There's unprecedented energy and excitement for Obama among young evangelicals and Catholics. The Joshua Generation project will tap into that excitement and provide young people of faith opportunities to stand up for their values and move the campaign forward."

But Roll Call reports today that the Home School Legal Defense Association might sue Obama for trademark infringement, since its "Generation Joshua" group has been established since 2003.

“This is an improper invasion of our trademark and we've retained legal counsel to notify the Obama campaign to stop this,” HSLDA’s co-founder, chairman, and general counsel, Michael Farris, told Roll Call. Farris also wrote a 2005 book called, “The Joshua Generation: Restoring the Heritage of Christian Leadership.”

Obama cited Joshua in his speech commemorating the Bloody Sunday March, in Selma, Ala., in March 2007, saying, "I thank the Moses generation; but we've got to remember, now, that Joshua still had a job to do. As great as Moses was, despite all that he did, leading a people out of bondage, he didn't cross over the river to see the Promised Land. God told him your job is done. You'll see it. You'll be at the mountain top and you can see what I've promised. What I've promised to Abraham and Isaac and Jacob. You will see that I've fulfilled that promise but you won't go there. We're going to leave it to the Joshua generation to make sure it happens."

It's kind of surprising that Farris is talking about a lawsuit on this, since a quick Google search indicates that the idea is hardly original. There are more than a few ministries out there that include the words "Joshua" and "Generation."

There's one in India, another in Texas, one in Los Angeles, and one in Maryland.

There's a CD with that title, a dance company, another book by a different author, and Pastor John Hagee uses the term to describe younger worshippers at his Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, and on and on.

Is Farris going to sue all these people and organizations?

McCain has been tested over and over by Castro, Russia, China, Hugo Chavez, N. Korea, etc. Obama has not ever been tested. Even George W. Bush attacked McCain like he attacked John Kerry and Al Gore. Obama is good with words with little or nothing to show me or anyone else.He is a good spesker. Our country needs more than a good speaker. It needs a tested leader with character and experience. McCain is old and in good health. Death does not discriminate. Even new born babies die. More aborted babies have been killed than all the wars the country has been in. With Obama at the CONTROLS AS PRESIDENT they will die quicker; because he believes in abortion and killings. Even Palin has more experience than Obama. Hillery R. Clinton did. To criticize Palin or Hillery is ok. To criticize Obama is Discrimination, hate, bigotry, etc. I get the picture of how some think. But I don't agree with it. They need to get real. They have a brain. They need to use it.

"The man who came from obscurity, defied all odds...walked away from fortune to help those less fortunate. He is Inspirational, articulate, intelligent.

Or the 3rd generation Navy officer with an anger management problem."

didn't St. Peter have anger managment problems?

I am a pro-life Catholic who is not thrilled with McCain but feel that voting for Obama in essence is giving up the fight for the defenseless. Obama has said repeatedly that his first act would be to pass the Freedom of Choice Act which would basically put an end to all our efforts to stop abortion these past 35 years. Money and security are more important than a human life!!!Shame on those who would
give up the fight for this man who promises "change". What change? Haven't we heard this mantra from candidates before him in one form or another.
Several have mentioned that religion shouldn't be part of their politics but evidently Obama and McCain don't agree since they are reaching out to the evangelicals for their votes. Watch how quickly they will abandon them when and if they get elected.
I will hold my nose and vote for MCCain and hope he can continue to keep this country safe (7 years) and maybe work with the Democrats to start drilling in our own country. We are sitting on our own freedom....but let's save that tree.

if you are catholic you cannot vote for obama and remain in good standing with the church. without the right to life the economy, gas prices, the war, sending jobs overseas, etc. doesn't matter. if you don't get out of the womb alive then it is all moot. they can call it whatever they want but that doesn't change the fact that abortion is murder.

Also what is this talk of racist America? It seems the minorities have more rights here than anyone. This country is so racist when half the country is supporting Obama? I am not saying racism doesn't exist but some people make it seem as if it is the main face of America. Everyone is so sensitive these days about race and ethnicity but why is it that Hispanic people have literally taken over the term and designation Latin when it came from Romans in Italy, Julius Ceaser and Pompeii and nobody says anything about that? Latin is the legacy of Italians and no one else.

Every candidate has their good and bad points. The Obama campaign talks about the economy, healthcare, the environment which are noble causes of concern. But how exactly will they accomplish this? The Republicans should espouse themselves a little more to these issues, but what one overlooks is the moral health of this country if Obama wins. He is the most pro abortion candidate we ever had, he is for gay marraiges and other immoral issues. I dont preach intolerance for gays as we should not judge anyone but allowing marraige for them is a travesty of God's laws. I think if Obama becomes president we will spiral further down the moral scale.

I'm not comfortable with any of the candidates. Who are the write-ins?

IF YOU LIKE THIS ECONOMY,

IF YOULIKE THIS NEVER-ENDING WAR,

IF LIKE THE TAX BREAKS FOR THE RICH,

IF YOU CAN'T WAIT TO INVADE IRAN,

IF YOU LIKE HIGH UNEMPLOYMENT,

IF YOU LOOK FORWARD TO THE END OF ROE V. WADE.

IF YOU LIKE THE UNFAIR TRADE POLICIES THAT SEND JOBS AND TECHNOLOGY OVERSEAS,

IF YOU LIKE A GOVERNMENT THAT PRACTICES TORTURE,

IF YOU LIKE THE FACT THAT THE US IS ONE OF THE MOST REVILED NATIONS ON THE PLANET, THEN YOU'LL JUST LOVE McCAIN.

This country is not about a flag pin; it’s not about a flag; it is more about a citizen’s right to burn that flag in protest if they disagree with what this country is doing. Anyone who thinks wearing a flag pin makes them patriotic is sick. It’s like a baby that cries, not because it hurts, but because it wants others to think it hurts. This country is about the right of a person to get up and put forth an opinion that others might totally disagree with, and you have the right to protest it . That is what America is about; that is what we should celebrate. It’s called freedom of expression as provided for in the First Amendment of the United States Constitution: The right to express ourselves any way we wish. Our military risk their lives so that all Americans can enjoy the rights provided for in our Constitution, whether their manner of doing so is popular or not.

FUNNY THING IS: I NEVER SAW HILLARY WEAR A FLAG PIN; AND I NEVER SAW HER CRITICIZED FOR IT.

...I don't even know how to respond to this article, except to say, that anyone who calls themselves CATHOLIC and votes for this advocate of the murder of the INNOCENCE is living a LIE and should study the Catholic teachings in depth; go to confession, and beg Our Lord for absolution, since voting for Obama is voting for the demise of the United States of America, and more importantly, the condemnation of your very soul!

The irony here is over the top - In 1999 Farris named his Purcellville VA vanity college Patrick Henry College. Patrick Henry Community College in Martinsville VA tried to block him - unsuccessfully - in the legislature from "using a name 'identical or confusingly similar' to one already used by the community college system." Farris claimed it was "fundamentally unfair" to ask him to change the name. (So Far, It's a Tie in Battle to Claim Popular Name for Planned Purcellville College, Washington Post, 2/7/99).

Some here claim they're Catholic and yet don't have any qualms about voting for a pro-abortion candidate. They would like to give the false impression that they can separate the Catholic from the voter within themselves. What a big lie! They're only deceiving themselves.

Vote for Obama, yeah right. One big fat CHANCE we can't give in (to) ...and not CHANGE we can believe in.

As far as I can see the 1/3 of the Democratic Party who is in charge of the Presidential Campaingn is awakenening with big strides the famous and effective Silent Majority. In response to the slur room we should have The Prayer Room.May God bless America for ever more.

As a young Catholic, I find it incredibly offensive that Obama wants my vote. Kiss my toosh you baby-murdering socialist! You're in for a big shock when you start talking to us young Catholics who know and love their faith. We are well aware of your support of the culture of death, not to mention that IT IS A MORTAL SIN TO KNOWINGLY VOTE FOR A PRO-ABORTION CANDIDATE!

Obama Explains National Anthem Stance

Is this guy crazy or what!

On Sat, 22 Mar 2008 18:48:04 -0400, "LTG
Bill Ginn" USAF ret forwarded:

Hot on the heels of his explanation for why
he no longer wears a flag pin,
presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama
was forced to explain why he doesn't
follow protocol when the National Anthem is
played.

According to the United States Code, Title
36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171, During
rendition of the national anthem when the
flag is displayed, all present except
those in uniform are expected to stand at
attention facing the flag with the
right hand over the heart.

"As I've said about the flag pin, I don't
want to be perceived as taking sides,"
Obama said. "There are a lot of people in
the world to whom the American flag is
a symbol of oppression. And the anthem
itself conveys a war-like message. You
know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It
should be swapped for something less
parochial and less bellicose. I like the
song 'I'd Like to Teach the World to
sing.' If that were our anthem, then I might
salute it."

WHAAAAAAAT!!!!!!!!!! Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this could possibly be our next president. I, for once, am
speechless. .

Senator Obama is not only for abortion, but also infanticide. I hope we are ALL against that. Any person like the Senator who would not be in favor of giving babies who survive abortion medical assistance is in danger of losing his immortal soul. We should all be praying that God guides both the candidates to choose life and not death for our children. Women deserve better than abortion!

It is interesting that we can recruit Catholic youth for votes but ignore God's right to life of the the unborn.

Posted by: Tim | Jun 10, 2008 8:54:38 AM

Obama is a baby killer. That's all that needs to be said.

Posted by: Linda | Jun 10, 2008 8:54:32 AM

You have to ask yourself, who would Jesus vote for?

The man who came from obscurity, defied all odds...walked away from fortune to help those less fortunate. He is Inspirational, articulate, intelligent.

Or the 3rd generation Navy officer with an anger management problem.

B. Hussein Obama is our messiah, the king of kings and then read the Book of Joshua.
Everything from this guy is suspect. The latest he is okaying fingerprint ID for non-criminals.
This guy could make me paranoid.
The media is for him which makes he against him.
