I just read that Cindy McCain carries $250,000 in debt on her credit cards. What is it with republicans and debt? Do they all think that if they put off paying long enough, someone else will pay the bill? Oh, yeah, that is the way they see things, isn't it? Kinda explains the economy, doesn't it?

pt, you wrote: "and turned down large sums of money to go to work for the average American." Sen. Obama and his wife claimed on their 2007 federal tax returns that their adjusted gross income last year was $4,139,965.

dl, when the federal government takes full control of the left's proposed womb-to-tomb universal health care, preventative health care will be a key component. And under the guise of preventative health care, the federal government will deny medical coverage for individuals who smoke; the federal government will deny medical coverage for individuals who eat foods that contain too much fat; and the federal government will deny medical coverage for individuals whose lifestyles are inconsistent with the lifestyle that the federal government will define as "healthy." Since overexposure to the sun causes skin cancer there may one day be a ban on sunbathing and enjoying a day at the beach or community pool. Since over population is unhealthy, the federal government may one day mandate abortions and euthanasia. Who knows? Maybe one day studies will show that certain colors are harmful to the eyes?

With the federal government making the medical decisions for us, and when something does go wrong, you will not be able to sue the federal government for malpractice. So you will get your wish, the doctors will be free from worrying about malpractice and some may use that as an excuse to cut corners.

Then under the guise of preventing global warming the federal government will mandate which products individuals will be allowed to, or must, purchase --from the cars that we drive to even the houses in which we live, and what we use to accessorize our homes. The early stages of this have already begun. The energy bill that the Senate passed contains a provision which eliminates the use of traditional incandescent light bulbs in the next 4-12 years and replaces them with products like the compact fluorescent and halogen light bulbs. Some state legislatures are already considering banning the incandescent light bulbs and mandating the use of compact fluorescent and halogen light bulbs. The problem is these light bulbs contain so much mercury that exposure to a broken compact fluorescent bulb can cause serious health problems. And should one break inside a home or an office it will be extremely costly to decontaminate the room or office.

Now then, it is one thing to intercept and seize communications between the enemy in a foreign country and an individual here in the United States during wartime. It is quite another when the federal government sends out its watch dogs to enforce mandates it has imposed on us in the guise of preventative health care and to prevent global warming.

Will Obama tax us to death to support his earmarks?

$15 million in gov't grants to Trinity church--the one that hates our government

$200,000 to Father Pfleger-Obama's moral compass--that says America is a sin

$1 million to his wife's employer--where she received a huge raise.

Wonder is this is what Michelle means by--we all have to share a piece of the pie.
And is this a way for Obama to stick it to America?
Something must have rubbed off sitting in that church for 20 years.

Support McCain--no earmarks, no reason to stick it to America.

pt,

McCAin said on CNN this morning that the American people don't care about his temper.

He is sadly mistaken. After Clinton demeaned the office and Bush decimated it, we DO care. We need someone who restore the image of POTUS.

Posted by: Get Over It Already | Jun 14, 2008 11:40:33 AM

Russ,
I agree, let's look at mccain's values and what he's done. He finished at the bottom of his class in college. After his wife waited for him to come back from war he cheated on her and then went and married a millionaire. Every senator has a story about his uncontrollable temper tantrums. Obama 2008 will be GREAT!!

Posted by: pt | Jun 14, 2008 11:17:19 AM

Isn't it GREAT to see an average American really make it big. Obama was raised by his single-mother with the help of his grandparents. He worked Hard, got a good education, and turned down large sums of money to go to work for the average American. What a great story. He raised his large sums of money for his campaign, not thru big corporate donors like many others, but thru average Americans giving $10 or $20 at a time. I suspect he is going to go down in history as one of the great presidents of all time. Obama will be Great in 2008!!!

"There is nothing more real than a man's character and values. The track record of what he has actually done is far more important than anything he says, however elegantly he says it." That is what should be considered when evaluating the candidates. If one does that they will realize that Obama has no character and his values are with the terrorist, radical, left.

It all comes down to whether or not you think we should continue the bush policies. If you think the war should continue indefinitely, while we spend $10,000,000,000 a month, and you think that bush has done well with the economy then mc-more-war is your man. If you think that it's time we start to get out of iraq and do some positive things for the average American instead of just the top 5% then vote for Obama.

Sylvia Johnson

another dose of reality.

Obama is there DESPITE not being white (since his African American numbers are not exact but similar to what put Bill Clinton over the edge 16 years ago yet Bill Clinton did not have any whites or women NOT voting for him because of his race and gender) and not having the years of old political machines behind him.

Obama's race and Hillary Clinton's gender were not more helpful than they were hurtful... there is too many cloudy numbers that say a lot more people voted against because of those issues than for)

facts facts facts...focus on facts.

James Danley

You are misinformed or just so internally focused that you are nto seeing reality in front of you...

You wrote this...
"Wake up America! Open your eyes! Don't just vote based on your emotions and desire for "change" just for the sake of change."

No that is McCain who is saying we need "change" just for the sake of saying we need change because he needs the votes. Change IS a different foreign policy than the one we have like Obama's which puts the focus on coming home and redirecting energy to Afghanistan and Pakistan...that are both getting worse. or a change to not saber rattling Iran and pre-pitching war with Iran...which continues to make our allies not trust us..and makes us seem more like the terrorist recruits say "imperialists".

Yes that is change we need.

You said
"If you honestly want the federal government telling you what you can and cannot eat and drink;"

Obama says parents and individuals need to take responsibility for what they eat and drink,,,and what their kids eat and drink...not tell them what they can. McCain's healthcare policy is only about telling people what they can eat and drink (you should read it before you put out dumb statements that are completely the opposite of what is true)

"if you honestly want the federal government telling you what products you can and cannot purchase;"

no but I do want people telling China what their products have to be when they get here...and I want my products and my food safe.

You write
"If you honestly want the federal government telling you what medical procedures you can or cannot have, or even must have;"

You are kidding right...that's the problem...the insurance companies are telling us that now...not the doctors...that is part of what needs to be fixed. and Doctors need to practice fiscally sound medicine and not worry about lawsuits all the time...because that is what is part of our problem and why soooo many people can't affiord to go to the dentists or be covered to go get an eye appointment...and it's getting worse.

You write
"if you honestly want the federal government controlling every aspect of your life and lifestyle,"

Have you been around for the past 8 years...if their is someone who is throwing out the constitution it is this administration which McCain voted with 95% of the time on these issues.

You write

then by all means vote for Sen. Obama and a Democratic Congress.

If someone was okay with your abocve statements ...then they enjoyed the last 8 years. They won't be voting for Obama...if you want the constitution gone and for government control... that would be a vote for McCain.

Get real... I hope you are just daydreaming...or in a dream like state when you typed that comment because it is the POLAR opposite of reality.

Posted by: dl | Jun 14, 2008 10:36:52 AM

Wade, mims nj and others, there is the old adage: "Don't throw out the baby with the bath water." So I hope the electorate will not be so enamored and mesmerized with the charismatic and flowery rhetoric that they fail to understand the details within the "change" that Sen. Obama and the far left propose.

Wake up America! Open your eyes! Don't just vote based on your emotions and desire for "change" just for the sake of change. If you honestly want the federal government telling you what you can and cannot eat and drink; if you honestly want the federal government telling you what products you can and cannot purchase; if you honestly want the federal government telling you what medical procedures you can or cannot have, or even must have; if you honestly want the federal government controlling every aspect of your life and lifestyle, then by all means vote for Sen. Obama and a Democratic Congress.

If McCain's only allowable proposal for debates are these 10 town hall meetings then I think we would all get bored by the end. Maybe thats the game he wants to play. But I don't think 10 meetings of the same style is going to be productive. Sure have a town hall if you want, but why not use other styles as well? And whats the rush, personally I think we could all do with a bit of a break before the conventions.

In the end though I think any debates are in Obama's favour. The only way McCain can win in my view is by appearing above the fray. He won't be able to continue to play the 'He's not ready' card by standing next to Obama on stage.

On the social security thing, I don't know quite what to think. I think in Jake Tapper's report it seemed to me like the main issue was McCain trying to stand as far away from Bush as possible and Obama trying to push McCain as close to Bush as possible. Also it seems right now like Obama is making the runninng, which given he has been in such a contested primary campaign is a bit of a surprise. Why has McCain not had an aggresive week to try to put early damage into the Obama GE campaign.

Understand this: Our beloved Barack will not fall for speaking without a teleprompter and prepared remarks again. They want to trick him into stepping out of his well rehearsed speeches, and trip him like those bad guys from the ABC thing, or that mean lady we're still trying to get rid of.
That's politics as usual, not what the American people want, the American ppeople want change.

Posted by: Wade | Jun 14, 2008 9:45:32 AM

I wonder how many members of the inept Bush administration would be apart of a McCain administration? Washington needs a good house cleaning.

Obama '08

Posted by: mims nj | Jun 14, 2008 8:38:34 AM

I cannot be happy that Obama is having the easiest opponent ever. Obama is such a undeserving candidate, only put there by 352 superdelegates pursueded by a mountain of money and an idea of seeing Obama kick-start the nomination on Martin Luther King's anniversary of "I have a dream". It's not racist to say Obama is where he is because he's African-American. It's true. And I'm not sure it's worth it.

Posted by: Sylvia Johnsen | Jun 14, 2008 7:32:32 AM

Why is Obama such a weenie about townhall appearances? The Fourth of July??!! Sheesh. Could it, uh, be, that, uh, he can't, uh, speak without, uh, his, uh, TelePrompter?

Posted by: mesquito | Jun 14, 2008 7:29:32 AM

LOL now you are Super Sally. Yes there will be more smears but in the end Obama will prevail.

Posted by: ll | Jun 13, 2008 11:48:09 PM

I have never had to create so many code names in one blog in my life.

Thank you ll, glad to see you again...

I see fear in so many aspects that have dominated for years being obliterated by this campaign, i could not be more proud.

I know there are many more smears out there, and we shall deal with them one by one.... But when folks have to steal my name to make a point on a blog that is open to everyone, I'd say that says QUITE a bit :)

Obama 08

( I feel bad for the folks who have to moderate this stuff day in and day out, can you imagine the cr*p theymust have to read and deal with?)
