In Spain, Edwards Says El No Es Interesado in Vice Presidency
June 06, 2008 9:36 AM
Comes our morning delivery of Spain's El Mundo and El Pais their stories of former Sen. John Edwards, D-NC, in Madrid speaking to reporters after a meeting with Socialist Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero. (Hopefully it wasn't all work and no play for Johnny Reid Edwards, as the North Carolinian did manage to make his way to Barcelona to speak to a U.S. business group.)
My Spanish is rusty, I must confess, so maybe bilingual readers can help with some translations of the stories HERE and HERE.
Yes, we have translators and Spanish-speakers at ABC News, but I tried using one of those web translators and it was confusing. "Edwards, former senator by Carolina north and former candidate by the Democratic Party, is one of the main supports that has had the virtual candidate of this political party to the White House, Barack Obama."
Okay, well, then let's rely on the Associated Press translation which reports Edwards said, "I already had the privilege of running for vice president in 2004, and I won't do it again."
Hailing Obama as a "visionary," Edwards was also quoted as saying, "We don't live in a dream world and we have a lot of work to do. But Obama's potential is unlimited."
As for the "Whither Hillary" conundrum so baffling the babblocracy these days, Edwards said, "Hillary Clinton is a great force in the Democratic Party and in the United States, whether she aspires to the vice-presidency or to another position. She is an extraordinary woman, and the role she will play depends only on her and Sen. Obama."
Or, as the web translator put it: "Tough it has been interested for the situation of Hillary Clinton, before what Edwards has commented that its rout itself due to a large extent to that has starred in a campaign in which has acted more with the reason that with the heart."
I couldn't have said it better myself.

John Edwards would have made a great president for the PEOPLE, not the corporations and those who profit from their exorbitant prices due to ignoring laws because B*sh let's them get away with it.
I cannot see how ANY American can vote to continue the B*sh policies, which is what they would be doing for Iraq (1.5 BILLION A WEEK COST FOR NO REASON), spying on citizens (McCain said he agrees with B*sh policies on this, yesterday), and allowing Oil industry to go unchecked, and stopping investors from raising Oil falsely.

Both Hillary and Barack are great representatives for the minority in American history.
But, Mrs. Clinton has had her share of success and should preoccupy herself to making a difference outside of the neighborhood of the White House.
African wisdom says that "two lions don't sleep in one cage".
Hillary and her husband are too ambitious that evil will possess them. Either one of them will wake up in the night and do something that either one of them will claim they were sleep walking when they stabbed their neighbor.
Hey! Nobody will hold them responsible for doing something while they sleep walked.
You wouldn't accuse a man or woman of murder if they did it in their sleep.
Hillary would not even have a chance of thinking that she can run in 2016 when she would be considered "too old".
Given any tiny window of opportunity-- some demon will make something happen to Barack Obama.
If he won't KILL himself like foster then it will be something else.
The Lincoln stuff that he is trying to base his decision, when it comes to "What does Hillary really want?" The answer could be, "Barack's Head on a Plate". And she'll tell you that it's a Bibilical fact.
I am so sorry for Barack Obama to be in those shoes.
But, he is an African boy and I'm sure God will surround him with his ancestral spirits/angels to guard him.
I have never felt fear for anybody the way I feel for Barack Obama.
Look at what happened to Bhutto.
If Barack feels that he can't win without Hillary, then he should be a Man and pass the nomination to Hillary.
Otherwise, If half of the people who voted for Hillary vote for him, I don't see why he can't win.

With the obama campaign and followers demeaning Clinton and her family for the past 6 months, she should not support obama. He and the DNC only want to use her because they feel her influence with her supporters will fall to obama to win the election. He cannot win without her supporters and the majority will not vote for him anyway.
Good luck to Hillary Clinton. She gave a good fight and I look forward to her working for the good of the people once again.
I will vote for John McCain and I am working hard to influence anyone that I know to do the same. So far so good.
obama will destroy this country as we know it now - Michelle obama will help him. Look for wright and phleger to join them in the White House if obama is elected. IF is really a big word. McCain will make it RIGHT - but never Wright.
Vote for McCain.

bhrandon,
take the example you gave, of healthcare
any IDEAS obama and his crew could possible have come up with in regard to universal healthcare-they had to use anything sen. clinton has proposed or done in the past on healthcare as a guide.
so i say as far as being close on the issues
sen. clinton is the orginator
obama only copies.
and noway will obama be able to get any sort of healthcare (it will not be universal) done without something from sen. clinton.
this issue would not be an ISSUE if it had not been for sen. clinton.
and she will continue to push for in some way for universal healthcare until all americans have healthcare coverage.
say what you will,
sen. clinton' legacy is intact

bhandon?
when asked "if sen. clinton is the nominee, would you campaign for her?"
Michelle obama said "I would have to think long and hard about that"
Michelle obama said she would just like to scratch bill clinton' eyes out.
why should sen. clinton campaign for them?
I don't think any obama supporter wants sen. clinton to campaign for him.
and you are wrong-sen. clinton legacy and her good works record are all ready recorded,
the good sen. clinton has done over her 35+ years of public service are well documented.
and I am sure she will continue to do good.
If she decided to endorse obama and go back to her day job in the senate.
the good work she has done will not be tarnished.
maybe in your eyes. Why I don't know.
but she will be alright.

Senator Obama may have the money but he does not have intergity, intelligence, judgment or experience. He is nothing but a corrupt politican in an empty suit.
Senator McCain will win in November. We do not want a hate-mongering racist in the White House.

newera,
i know about politics and i know about sen. clinton's debt. i know how obama garnered the support of richardson and many of the other presidential candidates by paying off their debt. i am told that is an acceptable practice in politics.
it must be YOU not knowing about politics enough to understand, in spite of what all of the new to the process, all fired up obama supporters think. sen. clinton and her husband still hold a lot of clout in the dem. party. that maybe on the wane. but it still hold true enough right now that if she wanted to say NO. she could and that would be the end of it.
michelle obama has really made it easy for sen. clinton to say no, because of what michelle said earlier.

JGAW...I guess you don't know much about poitics. Hillary is in BIG financial problems. She has a campaign whichc she cannot shut down due to the debt she is in. The DNC and Obama have agreed to hold benefits and get money for her so she can close things down. She will be in no position to say , "I won't!". Obama has already agreed, many months ago, to camaign for her if she was the nominee, with no strings attached.

I don't think he should try for VP again either.
The mere fact that he has to say it so there won't be speculation about him as a VP contender says more about the press than it does John Edwards.

I don't think obama will ask sen. clinton to be vp. michelle obama does not like sen. clinton. nor should she accept if he does ask her to be vp. because when he loses she will be blamed. and she does not deserve that.
sen. clinton should go back to her day job. and when she gets tired of her day job. she should join the CGI and continue to do the good work she has done through the CGI.
i wish the people who keep repeating she will work her heart out campaigning for him-would stop saying that.
She does not need to campaign for him.
and i don't understand why people keep pushing for her to campaign for him.
let her go back to her job in the sen.
