I don't know whether or not the Republican base is growing, but I do know they're looking good for this election cycle when it comes to money on hand and a migration of Dem moderates and Independents.

bhrandon, Obama said the Bush years and Clinton years were exactly the same - in fact he lumped that last 20 years together as one big failure. Now I understand how you can support him - you don't pay attention to what he says.

Well at these you get points for postin gthis with a striaght face.

The Repubs DONT have a base, LOL!!

Or do you only read anti-Obama rhetoric?

The Super did what had to be done to win the White House. Clinton is and was unelectable, no one likes her, in case you haven't noticed. Over half the Dem Party thinks she is dishonest.

Her own Party thinks she's shady....not a great way to win a GE.

Grow up, man!

@jmc: "To say the DNC pushed out Clinton is a simply wrong. And anyone with detachment and a cooler head can easily see why they made the choices they did."

As Pelosi said, ignoring the will of the voters is a mistake. Hillary was beating Obama in popular and electoral votes. The DNC rigged their nomination to force a candidate to the top slot. It didn't go unnoticed. The Michigan count contradicted everything the Democrats had ever done with 'uncommitted'. IOW, they made it too obvious and the party outsiders noticed.

Anyone with an sense of what the country needs knows it was a colossal blunder. Americans don't hate either of the Clintons. It was a sure win.

Now the Republicans are looking at a very tight race where McCain can beat Obama. The Republicans don't have a split base, they have the money they need and so far they have all the solutions while Obama is still trying to find a center, a plausible image and a meaningful platform.

It's a long way to November.

Senator Obama is the most corrupt politician with the most stinky baggage of any candidate in a long time. If anyone dare tell the truth about this man, his people call it an attack and smear campaign or racism.
He was selected to be the nominee through corrupt means and big bucks. He is not presidential material.

and countallthevotes

obama always spoke of the clinton years as something good, because life in america during the clinton years was pretty good

unlike these last 8

but nice try i guess

Obama does not have enough earned delegates to guarantee the nomination. Unlike McCain. Pretty simple.

Note, the Republicans never had to have a "unity" declaration.

******
That's because Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee dropped out of the race when it was clear that they could not secure the Nomination.

The Repubs dont need Unity, they need a base, LOL!

Very late for Obama to say anything good about Bill Clinton's presidency. During the primaries he praised everyone but. The omission was resounding. The fact that "unity" is now the crie de coeur tells the story. This was the Dems to loose. Note, the Republicans never had to have a "unity" declaration.

len,

You seem like an intelligent person. You do realize just how much the Republicans hate the Clintons, right? This goes back to their time at the White House and right-wing conspiracies and impeachment trouble.

The Repubs are not crazy about McCain, he has no base. He is running around trying to find one, but no luck thus far.

But if you put Clinton on the ticket, suddenly the Repub base is HUGE and FIRED UP. And they would have loved to come out to defeat Clinton.

Couple that with Bill's questionable dealings and his Library donor list, which would have proved to be quite revealing and she did not stand much of a chance.

To say the DNC pushed out Clinton is a simply wrong. And anyone with detachment and a cooler head can easily see why they made the choices they did.

oh! pleeaaaaasssssssssseeeeeee....

stop with "unity" nonsense, as if people are that stupid and the moment they see these 2 together they will drop all their sense of logic and fall in line, just because they appear to be united.

Let's face it with all the money Obama has, he will buy this election with his flip-flops and broken promises. He will give everyone something to hang on to so they will vote for him.

And they said Bush was so unprincipled!! they said Bush was self-centered!!!

The Dems are having to adjust to the fact that they let their control over process outrun good political instincts. They nominated the weaker candidate and now they have to shore him up. They have damaged their party and now they have to band-aid that until the time it takes to heal passes.

Pelosi and Clinton getting together is the thing to watch. Obama doesn't really have that much clout in terms of reliable relationships and a big warchest evaporates.

If the press and the Dems continue to hammer on Bill Clinton, there will be a price to pay in extending these processes from months to years. Be careful what you wish for.

The dems are working it out over time. When are u ever ever ever going to focus on McGoo

Posted by: hmmm | Jun 26, 2008 9:32:31 AM

I know it's a compelling little soap opera...but can you please give Hillary a break and just get on with it. She's out of the race. You and the mainstream media played a key role in drumming her out. Can you now please focus on the issues and LEAVE HILLARY ALONE!
