Obama Says GOP "Trying to Make Michelle Into a Scary Person"

June 13, 2008 7:58 AM

At a posh fundraiser for the Democrat's White House Victory Fund last night -- $28,500 a head -- at the fancy Lincoln Park abode of Sara and James Star in Lincoln Park, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, appreciatively noted the homemade nametag of former Leo Burnett advertising executive Rick Fizdale.

"They have these wonderful stickers that said, 'Rick Hussein Fizdale,'" Obama said. "The theory was, we’re all 'Hussein.'"

"But that accurately captures, I think, the strategy" Republicans are trying to use against him, Obama said. "Come on. They’re going to try to make me into a scary guy. They’re even trying to make Michelle into a scary person. Right? And so that drumbeat – we’re not sure if he’s patriotic or not, we’re not sure if he is too black. I don’t know, before I wasn’t black enough. Now he might be too black. We don’t know whether he’s going to socialize – well, who knows what.”

At a second fundraiser last night, Obama acknowledged a moment's hesitation before venturing out Sunday on his bike in not his most flattering photo-op.

“I had an internal debate,” he said. “Because I knew that the A.P. was going to take a picture, and they were trying to portray it like Dukakis wearing that tank helmet. But I wanted to make sure that the children who saw that picture knew that even the Democratic nominee for president wears a helmet when he goes biking. Now, obviously the rest of my apparel was apparently not up to snuff, because I got a hard time from all sorts of blogs who said I looked like Urkel.”

So, Obama wants to do one Town Meeting on July fourth when not many to watch. Wow!! That July fourth statement will surly take on a life of it's own! Obama is handing McCain the election on a silver platter. Who the heck os advising Obama? Need to make some CHANGES BO!!

Obama offers hope.....yeah, good luck with that.

You better hope there is an a America left if this no-experience city-slicker and his cast of leftist radicals gets elected. He is already attacking free speech with his "don't talk about my wife" rhetoric. Don't have her out there pimping your goods, Mr. Obama and she won't get talked about. She is a hater through and through.

I can almost laugh when Obama supporters post negatives about McCain's military service. OBAMA DOSEN'T HAVE ANY MILITARY SERVICE!!

Michelle is scary. As a white man I have experienced plenty of reverse discrimination professionally. and in my opinion Michele is ready do dish it out. No, sorry, I am not a racist. I taught for over ten years at an inner city elementary school, all Black. We had some great years with kids, parents and staff getting along very well. Test scores were consistently going up. Everybody happy. Then the diocese got into political correctness and the place just went to seed (literally), I did a Google street view search and found lots of same. Same to follow with Obama presidency? - or am I being obtuse?

Lee, Sen. Obama and the Democrats have said often that they intend to let the Bush tax cuts expire. The 2001 Bush tax cuts LOWERED the bottom two federal income tax rates: The 15% bracket lowered to 10%; and the 28% bracket lowered to 15%. IF these are allowed to expire then those currently paying the 10% will see that raised back to 15%; and those paying the 15% will see that raised back to 28%. THAT IS A TAX HIKE! Furthermore, Sen. Obama has said often that he will raise the federal income tax on those making more than $250,000.

Corporations and small businesses have the right to make a profit. So when their expenses go up, laying off workers is one of the ways they offset the rise in expenses so they can continue to make a profit. When corporations and small businesses make profits, they hire employees. When corporations and small businesses are squeezed financially they lay people off. That is how the free market and capitalism works.

What is so strange is that in 2004 Kerry asked McCain to be his VP. Now, the Dems. are saying McCain is the devil... what a joke.

Seems to me that with his lack of experience that Obama is the one running for Bushes third term.

Keep spinning and trying to divert, Obamanation. We know what we've seen and heard from Michelle so far. She has mortally offended us already. We believe the tape exists because we fully expect it of her.

Most of us are too busy with real lives to bother debating with blind fanatics on the internet, but there are millions of us and we vote. And calling us racists because we are offended won't change our vote.

The fact that John McCain was a Prisoner-of-War means he has "paid his dues", but this doesn't fit the definition of a "hero". This is not intended as an insult, but a hero is someone who makes extreme sacrifices to save OTHERS. Being mistreated by the North Vietnamese was certainly a very bad thing, but does not, in itself, make McCain a hero.

The "hero" debate is mostly about semantics, I guess.

McCain may be a hero to some
but he is a bad candidate for
POTUS.

He suffers from a worldview
that might have had some
relevance fifty years ago
but his understanding of the
world of today is seriously
flawed.

An earlier post suggested that Cindy McCain should get the same treatment as Michele Obama.

OK... after you point out that Cindy McCain is a robot, what else can you say? She never says anything "bad" because she never says ANYTHING! Maybe this is exemplary behavior for a candidate's wife; at least she isn't openly anti-American.

Jo:

And, by the way, Jo, the "Hero" thing did little for Bob Dole, and he had a much higher claim to the title...

Obama 2008 -- Yes, WE CAN!!!

Beth wrote: "The media loves McCain and has for years..."

This was true when McCain was disputing Bush policies (frequently), which branded him as a "maverick" Republican.

But now that McCain is up against Obamassiah, it's a different story. Granted, the media is (so far) not really BASHING McCain; they are simply trying to ignore him, hoping he will go away.

"The use of a racist slur can't be acceptable for any national leader, regardless of his background,"

Well, McCain can't help it. He's just a "typical white person."

Posted by: Kafir | Jun 13, 2008 3:29:18 PM

Obama could probably beat out any republican this year EXCEPT McCain.
People love and respect McCain. So it's futile. And it will turn people off. McCain is a hero.

Maybe Obama can try again in 2012.

Posted by: Jo | Jun 13, 2008 3:01:51 PM

The hardest thing in the world for the democrats to try to do is to paint McCain as a bad, evil guy. The media loves McCain and has for years, so it's just too late for that.

Ain't going to work. Face it, this just isn't your year to win.

Posted by: Beth | Jun 13, 2008 2:59:33 PM

Obama knows the Michelle-whitey video is out there and he's trying to make excuses already with the "don't bash my wife policy".....

Won't work. President McCain - get use to it!!!
