Vet, Vetter, Vetted

June 12, 2008 8:32 AM

If nothing else -- and surely there's much else -- the Jim Johnson episode illustrates just how completely bizarre it is that the vice presidential vetter for then-Gov. George W. Bush -- Dick Cheney -- picked himself in 2000.

No wonder at least one VP hopeful was so non-plused back then. Can you imagine?

The only thing keeping the empty suit upright is a lot of hot air!

Posted by: Soetoro No! | Jun 12, 2008 10:43:49 AM

The term 'empty suit' was used in military circles to describe an officer who was promoted to the position but unprepared to lead in combat. An empty suit freezes in the face of fire, retreats and otherwise doesn't understand the level of commitment, sacrifice and ferocity required to win.

In Obamalosi's case, they are referring to his lack of preparation and experience, but also to the empty rhetoric he uses to cover his lack of depth on issues vital to national security and the economy.

Unfounded emotional assertions will get you nowhere. But, they are useful to others as an indication of your lack of substance about important issues.

In the same time frame, we got a 30 year fixed at 3.78% interest, even better than Johnson got. I don't understand why this is even an issue. Maybe I should be investigated, LOL!

Obama: Full of promise, signifying nothing!

seems to me he IS the one keeping those promises.

You would have to be pretty dumb to vote for someone because he said we need to get rid of lobbyists...and then say he should be held to that standard and the other candidate shouldn't.

McCain's vetter is a lobbyist for Exxon Mobil

his campaign heads are some of the biggest lobbyists in Washington.

Yeah Obama brought this on... I think it's great hold him to the standard...just makes him look better...because you then in turn don't hold McCain to the same standard...

who would be the better President?

Obviously the guy held to the higher standard.

Jim Johnson is a lot less troublesome than McCain's people...A LOT less...and where is the outrage?

this is all stupid and just seals the deal on another reason for Obama to be President.
