A Ludacris Obama Supporter
July 30, 2008 3:11 PM
No, that’s not a typo. I am of course referring to rap star Ludacris, with whom Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, has worked on AIDS awareness.
Obama recently told Rolling Stone magazine that Jay-Z and Ludacris are "great talents and great businessmen".
"It would be nice if I could have my daughters listen to their music without me worrying they were getting bad images of themselves," the candidate said.
And speaking of which…hide the blog from Malia and Sasha, Ludacris has a new song out, "Politics: Obama is Here."
"You never should've doubted him
with a slot in the president's iPod Obama shattered 'em
Said I handled his biz and I'm one of his favorite rappers
Well give Luda a special pardon if I'm ever in the slammer
Better yet put him in office, make me your vice president
Hillary hated on you, so that b---- is irrelevant
Jesse talking slick and apologizing for what?...
"You can't stop what's bout to happen, we bout to make history
the first black president is destined and it's meant to be
the threats ain't fazing us, the nooses or the jokes
so get off your ass, black people, it's time to get out and vote!
paint the White House black and I'm sure that's got 'em terrified
McCain don't belong in ANY chair unless he's paralyzed
Yeah I said it cause Bush is mentally handicapped…"
Obama spox Bill Burton says: "As Barack Obama has said many, many times in the past, rap lyrics today too often perpetuate misogyny, materialism, and degrading images that he doesn’t want his daughters or any children exposed to. This song is not only outrageously offensive to Senator Clinton, Reverend Jackson, Senator McCain, and President Bush, it is offensive to all of us who are trying to raise our children with the values we hold dear. While Ludacris is a talented individual he should be ashamed of these lyrics."
Word.

UPDATE: ABC News' Sheila Marikar points out that rapper Jay-Z mentions Obama in a verse from his song "A-Billi":
"I see Benjamins
and a billion other 'big head' people
imma natural born hustla
Marcy project mutha f**ka
Turned proffesional journalist
reportin' live from the gutter
where girls carry box cutters
brothers shoot-up with undercovers
screamin' 'F**k the World!!'
Why?
Cause' don't no body love us y'all
Shawn Carter, Sean Bell
What's the difference? Do tell
50 Shots Or 50 Mill?
Ain't no difference go to hell
So raaahh, lick a shot for Barack Obama
change gon' come or imma
buy the whole hood lamas on me
Roc nation army"
Shown the lyrics and asked for comment, Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton said, "What does this mean?"

I wouldn't believe anything that came out of Obama's mouth. He has already proven he's a good liar.

Obama can criticize rap artist a bit more harshly than he could Wright, because he doesn't know most, if not any of them, on a personal bases that he does with reverend Wright; someone he considered his close friend. I have friends who say ignorant things or things I don't agree with and even offended by, it isn't like the next day they're not my friends anymore. I'm no fair weather friend. And if everyone scolded their friends for every offensive thing they did, you'd have only one friend, yourself. Personally, Wright didn't say anything that offended me nor thousands of other Americans. I just thought he was expressing anger when he spoke against American policies, like conservatives express anger when they criticize America on Fox every night. Some were angry because they were primmed to be angry to begin with; those searching any reason to validate their bias against Obama or even their bias against the Democratic party for what they perceive they represent, were more offended.

as a 24yo man I must say..."I love Bill Burton's response!"
What does this mean?

Reverend Wright-Dot, Mr. Obama-Dot, Pennyslvania clinging to their guns and Bibles-Dot, Being Friends with that terrorist-dot, Not visiting the wounded-Dot, Ludacris-Dot, That real estate association-Dot..... Now connect the Dots... Do you see what many see. It is Character... Obama is a "Character" Not a Man with Character!

If a particular candidate wins the election, it is only because God has allowed it in order serve His Divine purposes. It is not about Obama or McCain. Go and read the books of Daniel and Revelation in the Holy Bible, they are very revelant for these end times.

I guess the McCain camp can enjoy Obama's cronies speak out with what is deeply in their hearts. Good that Obama still thinks Ludacris is talented. Whew. For a moment there I thought he would disavow those in the rap clan. They can still be friends, just don't listen to anything that comes out of their mouth. I feel better now.

Rest assured that Big News is in 24 hour hyperdrive, furiously trying to find a singer/celebrity who supports McCain or has any association whatsoever with the GOP who has written something untoward about Obama.. their MO has always been, when it's a Repucblican supporter who says something outrageous, thrust a mike in front of the leading GOP candidate and ask him to defend them... when it's a Democrat supporter saying something equally outrageous, go and find a similarly crude remark/action on the right and say "See.. see! they're just as rotten as our side!!"

Both he and Obama are racists.

Every time I think I will vote for Obama, I am reminded anew of who Obama's friends are and who he'd have sleeping in the Lincoln bedroom and I have to re-evaluate whether Obama could be trusted. No matter how old and out-of-touch John McCain may be, there is no doubt he loves and reveres America. He is a patriot who has sacrificed for this great Nation and he would never dishonor the office of President or allow such shameless disrespect to be perpetuated on our land and it institutions. I can’t even begin to say the same words about Barrack Obama.

Come on, Drew, get real, your polarized response was meant for me! Just kidding.

Kat,
I read it wrong. That message was meant for badger.

Greenbeastie,
Everything you said about Obama pretty much says he has to apologize for another persons' actions and for the effects they may have caused the targeted person.
When in your lifetime have you apologized for something someone else said. MAKE SENSE!!!! What is this the BABY GENERATION. If anyone should be apologizing, it's the person who said it. I have yet to see McCain apologize for anyone and I don't expect him to either.
Do me a favor...check McCain's background. Especially The Keating Five incident. It's funny McCain has been investigated for political corruption and Obama shows respect to rappers and the latter is an issue. And you wonder why people pull race cards.
Explain to me what could it be when a white man has been charged with CRIMINAL ACTIONS and the courts let him off with a stiff warning saying he has TERRIBLE JUDGMENT and somehow he has better judgment than a black man with no record of being investigated for so much as a traffic violation.
I'm willing to understand, but you have to educate me on why this would happen.
It's obvious no one here has a clue about McCain or his past history beyond being a war veteran. The fact still remains John McCain is a CRIMINAL that got away.

TW Said=Tell me why any time a Obama supporter says something negative it somehow gets twisted as if Obama himself have spoken.
If we are not on Obama's payroll, an advisor or on the campaign commitee...we arespeaking as an american with a opinion. Nothing more and nothing less. Stop blaming the man for every single comment that comes out someone elses mouth.====Than maybe it was his pesky supporters he was reffering to when he said others will be pulling race into the election and reminding everyone he is Black.
Funny only racists rants making the news are the ones from Obama and his supporters/friends.

you have a rapper saying such hateful things toward sitting united states senators, a war hero (mccain), a former first lady, etc. this should be eye opening to a certain community, but no leadership. not even from obama. this is so sad, and is a reflection on the lack of knowledge of history, and the efforts made by the two senators to make this world a better place. what next... why doesn't he call eleanor roosevelt, abigail adams, and martha washington horrible names also. shame.

Drew, I'm actually an Obama supporter. I sometimes fly off into humor as a release from the political tension these days. I observed an irony with the McCain campaign deflecting attention away from Ludacris with the incredibly bad and timed video. I find personally the Ludacris lyrics offensive and misogynist, but I don't associate his lyrics to Obama, which is perhaps the intention of some of the showcasing. I also respect the AIDS work Ludacris has done. Sometimes we just have to stop taking ourselves so seriously.

This is for "kat". One thing Obama did that is honorable is that he helped people on the Southside of Chicago. You know average people. Oh yeah, the very pictures shown of Obama and Ludacris were taken at an Aids fundraiser. What has McCain done for anyone besides himself and the people of Vietnam. Educate me about McCain.
For others, who say statements like you can judge someone by the friends they keep. Then if you realize in 1989, McCain was part of The Keating Five. That would make him a friend of corrupt politians. CHeck your history before you spit out nonsense. Oh and believe me, some of you will say he got off and the rest were Democrats. I don't care they were all crooked and should have went to jail. But the fact remains, McCain is guilty by association according to your own standards. Prove me right the you can't handle the truth with a stupid response supporting McCain after you learn about this devious part of his history.

So blind -- God I wished you had paid this sort of attention to Obama's actions last year. Maybe if the press actually talked to people on the ground (rather than sit in their chairs and pontificate about how great Obama was) they would have seen the man that many of us saw.
Obama's campaign ROUTINELY played J-Z's 99 Problems at victory parties -- including, most notably, in Iowa when he trounced Hillary. Listen to the words, Jake. This is not anything new.
Remember Obama's shoulder brush -- where, in reference to Hillary and the ABC debate, he brushed the "Dirt off his Shoulder" ala Jay-Z? Then he wiped the #### off his shoe in reference to same? Totally innocuous, right?
You remember Wright and Phleger calling Hillary a racist and a "hater" - a white supremacist member of the 4H (for 4Haters) club? Where was Obama then? Could not even bring himself to express regret for the pain those comments caused.
You remember Michelle Obama admonishing voters not to vote for Hillary - because, well, a woman who can't keep her own house in order can't keep the White House in order? Nice.
Even now -- in connection with the Ludacris comments - Obama does not apologize on the rapper's behalf, or express regret for the impact of the words on Hillary (or the pain it causes those who support her). Instead, he relates it to himself (AS ALWAYS) and is sorry his own daughters have to hear it.
You hear Obama make comments about being "likeable enough" and you think it is just a regular jab. Women hear it and feel it reveals a deep misogyny. Funny, he never reduces McCain's positions to "silly season."
Obama knew Ludacris before the campaign - he approached him to help get the young black vote out. You think Obama was unaware of the kind of lyrics that are in his songs?
Obama still will not reach out to women -- he still tells them, Hillary supporters, and even women in the Congressional Black Caucus to "get over it." Way to show you care, Barack.
He routinely makes it clear that we are superfluous and unimportant. He is dismissive, and has kicked sand in our faces time after time. The list is too long -- but it includes Patti Solis Doyle, backtracking on the mental health exception, and refusing to work for our votes because he thinks he can use abortion as a hammer to put us in his column.
And you wonder why Hillary's women won't get on board with this guy?
When will you see him for what he is???
