A Vice Presidential Game of Clue

July 14, 2008 9:34 AM

Is it Tom Ridge?...In Pennsylvania?...With the sudden (and late) disclosure of his lobbying?

Could it be Sen. Claire McCaskill?....On a Sunday show?....With a comment about how she was told not to discuss whether she's being vetted?

We're all looking for clues, a la Professor Plum and Colonel Mustard.

Check out our Good Morning America report HERE.

dl,
As a strong Hillary supporter, I sadly agree. Even without the other reasons against Obama/Clinton, there are too many crazy people who would see the line of succession and think assassination. Obama should choose a VP who has been acting more like his understudy and personal assistant -- which is what the VP job really is -- than like a rival. Sibelius or McCaskill would be compatible, or Caroline Kennedy.

hmmm

I am not saying it to eliminate her the reaction to Obama's plane and it being a "loaner" from the Clinton campaign caused people ...right or wrong... to make an association that is there...as whacked as it may be...

that doesn't speak well for Clinton being VP.

It's not to "eliminate her" from contention...just stating a fact that is probably why she already is eliminated from contention.

Me saying it doesn't change that. It was already there. You can't have a VP who people's first thought anytime something happens to the candidate that she has something to do with it...

and that was the case when the plane was discovered to be one she was using.

Unfotunately.

no obama/hillary 08.

please god, i hope sen. clinton will stay as far away from the obama' as they want to stay from her.

am not saying that to eliminate her...it is what it is.

________

is this YOUR attempt at satire??????

Do some thinking before pushing for Hillary as VP.

If you like Hillary, consider that a Senator has real power, while the VP is just a servant of the President.

If you don't like her, consider that VP is in line for the Presidency, and there are 18 million unhappy HIllary supporters out there, 9 million of them so unhappy that they refuse to even vote for Obama in November.

Some of them may be attracted by HIllary as VP -- but others are disgusted with the idea of her giving up her own Senate career (and her chance to run in 2012) to iron Obama's shirt for 4 or 8 years, so they will work harder against an Obama/Clinton ticket than an Obama/anyone. (After Obama's term/s end, what would HIllary do? Try to oust whatever Democrat has taken her Senate seat? She wouldn't do that.)

If you think all her supporters will eventually 'get over it' or 'fall in line' -- why bother putting her on the ticket, which will offend many of Obama's supporters.

and "carly F. is all about Carly F.

she is about power. That is not what mcCain needs.

Obama/Hillary 2008

Posted by: rafraf | Jul 14, 2008 3:37:41 PM

len I don't know what Obama working well with blondes means...
but Fiorina was good at chopping heads and standing on the"shoulders of others" as one reporter put it...

she stunk on Meet the Press...McCaskill didnot even need to say much...as it was Brokaw was flabbergasted at how wrong some of her answers were...

c'mon turn up your tv...and read who is getting trashed for their missteps on the show...one guess...your love, Carly...

she's bad at this...she's good at acting angry or good at having an edge to her... that's not strength when she keeps making things up or pulling out arguments that don't even go with McCain's platform.

she's really bad at this...her arguments aren't founded in facts... Obama grounds every argument he has...

she tries to do it with a foundation built half on things that she creates in the middle of an argument.

it's a joke.

and lots o' people don't give her the credit you say she deserves...mainly because they were THERE.

look up the people who were involved with those companies and what they say...not good things about Carly Fiorina.

Posted by: dl | Jul 14, 2008 3:25:57 PM

@dl: I agree Fiorina was hated at HP. She also turned the company around for the shareholders and that was her job. After the Dunn scandal, there was also remorse for the campaign against Fiorina because Carly was ultimately proven right about Compaq.

McCaskill didn't present better numbers than Fiorina. Fiorina did a better job presenting them. What I said was she played the game well for an amateur (non-politician). And frankly, that is what we get from Obama too, so there is a delicious irony in Carly being the one to spar as McCain's surrogate.

Admit it. Obama doesn't work well with blondes.

Posted by: len | Jul 14, 2008 3:16:47 PM

It's pretty obvious McCaskill is near the top of the list to be Obama's VP. Obama always has gushing praise for McCaskill when they are with each other. Those 2 get along great with each other and could govern together very comfortably.

len

you obviously didn't watch her the past week

if the facts don't win her an argument she foolishly just goes off them.

even McCain realizes this.

and yes ...she was hated at HP ...go read the 101 reports that talk about how much she was hated ...not only by the board "but her throw anyone under the bus that got in her way"...left her seemingly a single person on her side when she left.

and she didn't do better than McCaskill...she looked bad this weekend... the vouchers...the wealthy tax cuts...the numbers she pulled out of her butt that aren't real...

turn the volume up on your tv...please.

"Carly F. did a terrible job when she was with HP, that's why she got canned"

No she didn't. She fought the board and they ousted her. Her decisions are the reason HP returned to profitability and stayed there. The board was subsequently involved in a scandal over pretexting.

Posted by: len | Jul 14, 2008 2:30:03 PM

Obama is doing fine. It is July, only political junkies are paying much attention. He is going to win. McCain is going to lose the debates and the election. I have not met a single person enthusiastic about McCain. How in the heck could you be?

Posted by: billy smith | Jul 14, 2008 1:53:58 PM

Carly F. did a terrible job when she was with HP, that's why she got canned. Also, McCaskill really got the better of Carly during their Sunday morning appearance on "Meet the Press". I really don't think that the VP spot is going to make that much difference. I see Obama pulling away as we get closer to the election. mc-more-war just has too many negatives. I coundn't believe he confused the Steelers with the Packers last week. Obama 2008!!!

Posted by: pt | Jul 14, 2008 1:27:15 PM

Respect and support for Senator Obama is eroding every day because MSM is finally showing some of his true colors. Senator McCain will win in November regardless of Obama's VP selection. Senator Obama lacks maturity, intergity, judgment and experience. He can't be trusted on his policies stance; he changes his mind with the weather.

Posted by: Mary | Jul 14, 2008 1:16:07 PM

Claire McCaskill is a joke. I hope Obama picks her.

Posted by: OxyCon | Jul 14, 2008 1:10:47 PM

jgaw

the plane obama used was the one that was being used by clinton.

see jake's story back a week or so ago.

Posted by: dl | Jul 14, 2008 1:00:44 PM

only with Senator Clinton as his VP does obama have even a slight chance at winning in November...

Posted by: chris | Jul 14, 2008 12:48:00 PM

dl,

sen clinton owns a plane?!

Posted by: jgaw | Jul 14, 2008 12:18:34 PM

dl: Seriously? I did not hear that. That is scary weird!
