Comedian Jokes About 'Hos' at Obama Fundraiser; Obama Condemns

July 12, 2008 11:20 AM

Now this'll surely help Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., with all those still-angry supporters of Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., not to mention the feminists confused by his recent remarks on abortion.

ABC News' Sunlen Miller reports that at a Chicago fundraiser last night, comedian Bernie Mac said his "little nephew came to me and he said, 'Uncle, what's the difference between a hypothetical question and a realistic question?' "I said, ‘I don't know,’ but I said, 'I'll tell you what you do. Go upstairs and ask your mother if she'd make love to the mailman for $50,000.’"

Mac's wife, in the joke, said she sleep "with anyone" for $50,000, and Mac's daughter said the same.

Explained Mac: "Hypothetically speaking, we should have $100,000. But realistically speaking we live with two hos."

Obama addressed the issue in his remarks, saying, "We can't afford to be divided by race. We can't afford to be divided by religion, or by region or class. Or by gender. That means, by the way, Bernie, you got to clean up your act. This is a family affair. ... I'm just messing with you."

Obama spox Jen Psaki issued a statement saying, "Sen. Obama told Bernie Mac that he doesn't condone these statements and believes what was said was inappropriate."

You might recall the 2004 brouhaha after, at a Democratic fundraiser, comedian Whoopi Goldberg made a joke using the word "Bush" as not only the name of the president, but a slang term for the female reproductive organs.

Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., at the same fundraiser had said the performers represented "the heart and soul of America," giving Mr. Bush some trail ammo, lame double entendres notwithstanding. Slim-Fast dropped Goldberg as a spokeswoman though she's bounced back nicely as a cast member on "The View."

What did Obama say about White DON IMUS?
What did he say about White John McCain when he told the joke about Hillary Clinton and Janet Reno back in 1998. Enquiring minds want to know.

For all you liberals who think this issue is not important, you are missing the point. This "news" organization has two different articles up on this same minor joke told by a comdedian. But when you try and post about a joke that came straight from the mouth of John McCain, these smart folks delete it. If you read this, come back in a minute. It will probalby be gone. The joke is on us.

Once again Obama doesn't have the backbone to do the right thing. Afterall, if he risks being labeled "uncool" it is all over with his young voters.

Seems like Obama is more worried about
Hollywood and popularity than anything else--even to the point of using his own kids to win votes.

You cannot claim you are offended by Obama's judgement when MCain reacted indifferently to much fouler langauge about Hillary and uttered a far fouler joke himself. That is hypocrisy, pure and simple.

i am sorry gang but this all sounds like recess in the third grade school---we have far more important issues

ballsloose As an African American female I can tell you why its okay for bernie mac to say that and not don Imus plain and simple double standard and it sickens my stomach. There has been a lot of double standards going on here. whats the difference between a shock joc and comedian(not much). Its also the reason its okay for obama to call his grandma a typical white person, but bill/Hillary get nailed to the cross for saying jesse jackson also won south carolina and that there were more people involved in the civil rights than martin luther king jr.. like LBJ. Double standard pure and simple and people are so star struck they can see the forest for the trees.

And to think, I enthusiastically supported Obama in the Democratic primary!! After clinching the nomination and after Clinton's withdrawal, Obama has done a complete about face from the candidate that was campaigning for the Democratic nomination. Myself, I've resigned myself to the fact that the Democratic Party no longer cares for the little guy. I'm voting for Ralph Nader. At least I don't have to hold my nose to vote for him. Perhaps all of those conservatives that Obama is now courting will suddenly become Democrats. There seems to be no place for us progressives in that party anymore.

tess
i am with you on this one---but what can you expect from little minds---they probably act the same way with neighbors cannot stay away from the nonsense

To think we actually HAD an electable candidate running for president. Someone who was already in the middle, who had a true understanding of issues and committed to principles that actually work. Now the DNC has insured we will have four more years of a Republican. We're gonna have to look at the big picture. Obama's a screwball. McCain ain't THAT bad. After the conventions, Obama's toast.

Did Michelle laugh, or did she say that it hurts her children to hear such words? I wonder if she will speak out ...

Posted by: Yavo Lem | Jul 13, 2008 9:09:00 AM

What did Obama say about WHITE Don Imus when he said almost the same thing.

And why did the slim supporting Obama have their pitch forks out ready to lynch Don Imus praising all the hateful things Obama said about Don Imus.

They also demanded he be fired from his job.

Posted by: ballsloose | Jul 13, 2008 8:53:42 AM

Omigod, I can't believe how fired up the MSM and the readers get about the little stuff. This is little stuff. I want to know why Obama voted to eviscerate the 4th Amendment. I want to know why McCain couldn't even bother to vote. And I want to know why no one is addressing the failure of the free market theory. . . I could care less what Bernie Mac says. I could care less what Jesse Jackson says. Whatever happened to the 4th estate? Did that get buried under Shock and Awe?

Patriot, my last post was a test.

If you question Obama's judgement in reacting to the word's of another, how do you defend the vulgarity from McCain himself.

Posted by: ricky | Jul 13, 2008 8:38:03 AM

Obama is old news. He is so stale.

Posted by: regi | Jul 13, 2008 8:37:32 AM

BO doesn't think he should have to earn womens' votes because he sees himself as the anointed one. Same thing with the gay community, he believes he's entitled despite having made no real effort to advance the community's issues. And if he is elected, don't even try to criticize him for his boneheadedness - you will automatically be tagged a racist.

Maybe the best thing for Obama and his followers to do is leave United States along with his un-American wife of his and go to the moon

Posted by: Alvin | Jul 13, 2008 8:32:40 AM

ricky,

it was not the joke-once again it is obama' judgement.

the joke was in bad taste-but if you know bernie mac,you know upfront what type of jokes he is likely to do.

So it really is about obama and his judgement.

first-obama should not have had bernie out there-at least not without a-well, what jokes are you going to do?

second-obama coming out there with his lame-slap on the wrist to bernie-and then saying i'm just messing with you man-is horrible.

but it seems to me (and what a shame)
bernie mac-being the proud man that he is-and successful in his own right (paying his dues to be where he is)
has to choke it down-and accept what obama said to him. all for the sake of wanting a black man for president.
no matter that THIS OBAMA is not the black man worthy of being the first black president.

I know what I think and how I feel about obama.

I always enjoyed bernie mac' tv show.
He seem like a nice guy,
I wonder how he is feeling after being touched by Mr. "hope & change" making history obama?

Lighten up people, it was only a JOKE.

WestCoastMessenger, you can trust that President Obama will not veto the tax increases that the Democrats will pass. They want to raise the federal income tax on gasoline $1-$3. They want to implement a windfall profit tax on the oil companies. Will windfall profit taxes on all of Corporate America be far behind?? Sen. Obama says he will raise the federal income tax on only the wealthiest 5%, but raising the capital gains tax will be a tax hike for over 50% of the workers. Then when you consider all of the new entitlement programs that Sen. Obama wants to implement and all the additional programs that the Democrats in Congress will add on, it won't take them long to discover that they will have to raise everyone's taxes in order to pay for these programs. So we are back to the beginning. President Obama will not veto any tax increase that the Democrats feel like passing.

Hey Leche,

You don't get it. Jokes about hos have no place in a presidential campaign. Never have, never will. Instead, Obama acted to appease Bernie Mac for Mac's inappropriateness. Appeasement in an act of a weakling. Obama is a weak man, and not of Presidential caliber. End of story.

Obama -- I'm just messin' with ya', man!
