Graham, er Gramm, Out From McCain Campaign
July 18, 2008 8:21 PM
The McCain campaign was very eager to get this announcement out there, from top economic adviser and controversial former Sen. Phil Gramm, R-Texas:
"It is clear to me that Democrats want to attack me rather than debate Sen. McCain on important economic issues facing the country," Gramm said in a statement. "That kind of distraction hurts not only Sen. McCain's ability to present concrete programs to deal with the country's problems, it hurts the country. To end this distraction and get on with the real debate, I hereby step down as co-chair of the McCain campaign and join the growing number of rank-and-file McCain supporters."
How eager were the McCainiacs to get this out there? One of them e-mailed it out with the subject line: "phil graham statement."
Whoops! It's GRAMM not Graham, as an e-mail from the same McCainiac sent out three minutes later corrected, noting that he was "in a hurry to get that out to you guys."
On a Friday night at 7:45 p.m.?

It was about to get too hot in in the kitchen so this is really why Gramm was let go.

Wow! I can only imagine how bitter Obama-haters are now that Maliki has endorsed Senator Obama's plan for a pull out from Iraq. Here's to McCain hurting the GOP down-ticket and the angry spinsters having less of an impact than Barr voters!

The quote you gave was from three years ago.
Situations change....and so, hopefully, will our candidate's viewpoints..
Think of OBama... and his beloved uncle Jeremiah.... and then his dispicable enemy Jeremiah..... and then????
HILLARY OR MCCAIN
BUT ALWAYS:
COUNTRY BEFORE PARTY!!!

Good riddance to Gramm, but who really believes he is gone? Unlike Rev. Wright, who had no policy decisions for Obama, Gramm IS the architect of the currect recession--no wonder he does not want to admit we are in serious straits. He also is the architect of McCain's whole economic non-policy.
Ask yourselves this: have the prices of things you need (food, gas, energy, housing) gone down since those industries have been deregulated? Deregulation only helps the "haves" in our society...not the 90% of us who work hard. Obama in 08!

It all comes down to whether or not you think we should continue the bush policies. If you think the war should continue indefinitely, while we spend $10,000,000,000 a month, and you think that bush has done well with the economy then mc-more-war is your man. If you think that it's time we start to get out of iraq and do some positive things for the average American instead of just the top 1% then vote for Obama.
Obama will be GREAT in 2008!!!

This 2005 interview with Tim Russert on Meet the Press make it very clear.
************************************
RUSSERT: The fact is you are different than George Bush.
SEN. McCAIN: No. No. The fact is that I have agreed with President Bush far more than I have disagreed. And on the transcendent issues, the most important issues of our day, I’ve been totally in agreement and support of President Bush.

I'm still trying to figure out why mccain confused the Packers with the Steelers last week while speaking to a Pittsburgh crowd. He said he used the names of the famous Steelers Defensive line of the 1970's, too bad these guys weren't even playing when mccain was being interrogated. He is either going senile or he was trying to pull one over on the Pittsburgh crowd, either way this is BAD news for mc-more-war. You can check out the article by going into google and typing "mccain steelers" and picking the first link.
Obama 2008!!!

I went on a vacation to the forest. Does that make me capable of being a forest ranger. I guess Obama and his media circus trying to convince the world that McCains surge was his idea in Iraq will WHAT?

That's a shame, because Gramm was telling the truth in a harsh way.
Some people would rather hear feel-good stories of Hope and Change with no real substance.
It wouldn't hurt us to learn to live below our means. We might actually start to save money.

I agree with Kate on this...do your own research...
McCain is not smart enough on economics...and his support structure tends to be these fellow wealthy ancestral millionaires just like GW Bush
they fight for the rich.
Period not the rest of the country.
NO matter what spin the McCainiacs want to try.
and he also is a hold over from cold war diplomacy...as we have seen in this new global economy that kind of tactic comes back to bite us in the a## and mnake things worse.
i.e giving insurgents enemies guns, power and money and false promises to fight with us in afghanistan, iran, and now iraq...
only to have the same people turn around and work against us and form groups that plot and plan against us like al quaeda.
stupid is as stupid does...don't vote for "Lt. Dan" Mccain.

McCain has had trouble with a pastor he went out and sought the backing of, and his top economic advisor who he has been allied to for a long time. Both therefore where in a position to be speaking for his campaign. These are the people McCain picks to back his campaign.

Mc Cain is the ONLY choice for President! For your own sake do your research yourselves rather than reading the drivel that i sput out there for the masses! And I am a Democrat...

The only thing that scares me more than a McCain presidency is a mccain presidency with Phil Gramm as the sec. of the treasury. Lord help us all.
Do your research folks, check out Phil Gramm. Very Scary. McCain calls Gramm his economic "guru".

Gramm does have nice blue eyes.
McCain will be a fine President.

I cannot possibly fathom anyone using an article about Phil Gramm to post about someone else having a problem with proper English usage.
Posted by: Ricky | Jul 19, 2008 1:26:27 AM
FYI, THIS is the actual quote from Barack Obama. Obama should master the English language himself. Obama should learn you do not being a sentence with "you know" "but" or "and" etc. L was correct. Obama quote follows:
"You know, I don’t understand when people are going around worrying about, “We need to have English- only.” They want to pass a law, “We want English-only.”
Now, I agree that immigrants should learn English. I agree with that. But understand this. Instead of worrying about whether immigrants can learn English — they’ll learn English — you need to make sure your child can speak Spanish. You should be thinking about, how can your child become bilingual? We should have every child speaking more than one language.
You know, it’s embarrassing when Europeans come over here, they all speak English, they speak French, they speak German. And then we go over to Europe, and all we can say [is], “Merci beaucoup.” Right?

What would actually be useful is for ABC or any other news group to explain Phil Gramm's background. He was integral in creating the loopholes and deregulation that brought us Enron, the mortgage crisis, a weak dollar, and alas, skyrocketing oil speculation.
Good reporting, ABC.

thank you Ryan, these far right people look all over the truth, even though Gramms' involvement/actions have impacted americans negatively, which may include their co-workers, neighbors, maybe even family, WHY IS THAT?????????

One has only to listen to the chorus of howls that erupt from the Obama campaign and supporters every time someone dares to question the positions of their master to know where the whining is coming from.

No, We only howl when someone lies and makes things up about his positions, which unfortunately is quite often.
