More About that Jesse Jackson Hot Mic Moment
July 16, 2008 9:14 PM
As first reported by TV Newser today, there was more to that hot mic moment of Rev. Jesse Jackson's than just wanting to castrate Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill.
"Barack ... he’s talking down to black people ... telling n***ers how to behave," Jackson said, using a racial epithet so unacceptable to Jackson he called for a boycott of the DVD box set of the seventh season of Seinfeld to protest comedian Michael Richards' use of it during an infamous 2006 comedy routine, and for a ban of the use of the word in popular culture.
Jackson, who is in Madrid, released the following statement today in response:
"I am deeply saddened and distressed by the pain and sorrow that I have caused as a result of my hurtful words. I apologize again to Senator Barrack (sic) Obama, Michelle Obama, their children as well as to the American public. There really is no justification for my comments and I hope that the Obama family and the American public will forgive me. I also pray that we, as a nation, can move on to address the real issues that affect the American people."
The Obama campaign had no comment.

Al Sharpton has been silent througtout all of this. The next time some white guy/gal says something questionable, let's remember his silence and confront him with that when he condems that white gal/guy.

His apology was very eloquently written - compared to the number of apologies coming out recently his appeared to be the most heartfelt. "Appeared..."

Okay, everybody please stop bashing Senator Obama; he was the receipient of Jesse Jackson's abusive language, as were African American citizens in our country. Some of you are making it sound like Senator Obama is responsible for Jackson's behavior. Please, if you want to bash someone, bash the man (Jackson)who uttered those hateful words!! Leave Obama and everybody else out of it! I am sick and tired of all those Obama haters (yes, racists and bigots) who pounce on the good senator of Illinois like a bunch of hyenas. This behavior is very disturbing! Please, can't you find something good and worthwhile to do? The world is watching and and listening; they read these blogs too...what a lovely impression we are sending beyond our shores.

Those of you still pushing Hillary Clinton for president are just plain pathetic. You're embarassing yourselves.

Wow, that devout Christian and Civil Rights leader is something else, isn't he? Why in the world would Jesse Jackson make such polarizing comments? Does he see his era of "the big guy" on its last legs?? Is a envious of Senator Obama? Does he feel he is so much bigger than the entire black community he has insulted and degraded by using the N word? Whatever his reasoning, there is NO place for that particular word in our society. You know, the really sad thing is had the microphone not been open, we would have never heard all of this from JJ's mouth!! And he'd go merrily on his spewing the same garbage again and again. And noone would know of his double, hypocritcal lives. Nice example for the young folks, Jesse Jackson Sr. I really do not see how African Americans can call this guy their leader. So, who would levy the charges against Jackson, would it be FOX NEWS? As he expressed his true self in what he thought was "the privacy" of their studios?? By the way, I would love to see the reaction of the person with whom JJ was sharing his evil thoughts about Senator Obama, and his total disrespect for All African Americans. Jackson apologized. Gee; had a different race, say, Asian, Jews, Latinos, native Americans, and whites said this, Jesse would be sueing that person!! Well, at least we now know Jackson's "secret" life when he thinks noone is listening!

This is so pathetic. How many times has Jackson done and said these things and not gotten caught? We're in a new win situation. Obama is an absolute loser and will do and say anything. He's redefined flip-flop. If he loses in November, the racists such as Jackson and Sharpton will have another reason to exist. Perhaps there is a compelling reason for BO to lose. If BO wins, then the needs for the henchment services provided by Jackson and Sharpton will be greatly diminished. The DNC has really screwed up this time. Things are only going to get worst as the truth will come out (it always does).

And this is the best the Democratic Party can do.
Wonderful.
And I mean that with sincere glee. I have faith in Americans to see him for what he is--a slick politician who will do and say anything for power, and is utterly unqualified for the world's most important job. I look forward to sanity returning in November.

The person who said Jackson is out of a job if Obama gets into the white house--the exorting Rainbow Push which is really the color green-- goes out of business...is correct. This old news extortionist is jealous of Obama, who has learned from the older man's mistakes...and he learned well.
They both are sick-making, but for different reasons.

The Obama Campaign falsely accused the Clintons of being racist in order to get the black vote away from Hillary ... now, their "chickens are coming home to roost" .. and it is one of their own roosters doing the crowing!! Forget Obama ... he left-wing-liberals "selected" hime ... Jesse knows it, Al knows it ... and most moderate-conservative Democrats know it ... so it's the flip of a coin in November ... unless a miracle happens and Hillary is on the ticket!

It sounds like there is a severe generational gap between the elders of the civil rights movement and the younger more arrogant types that have not paid any dues. Hmmm, I'm wondering how it will be settled. I always thought Jesse Jackson was a stand-up guy with a conscience, now I wonder. I'm still not seeing a basis to trust Obama, though. I don't support McCain either so there is nowhere to turn.

on a dailey basis it shocks me the things my black friends say about thier own race yet being white I will be held accountable well the more you scream racism the less respect you will get from me!

Jesse Jackson is a two-faced idiot. Why isn't he losing his job like he demands when white people make the same types of remarks?????? He is a moron.
Posted by: MyFellowAmericans | Jul 17, 2008 1:08:05 AM
Jackson should have presented the fact that he used the n-word when he apologized for what else he said. Here's a man who would hoot and howl if a White celeb or athlete used the n-word, yet he uses it in the most distasteful contextual plural form, thereby disgracing the whole black race that he referred to. Jackson, consider your cloth taken, you're fired, we do not want to hear from you again - GO AWAY!
Posted by: PSewall | Jul 17, 2008 1:07:47 AM
then the black community should do something about it instead of letting them go on camera as posers for the black community jeanette did you ever think of that
Posted by: stu | Jul 17, 2008 12:57:28 AM
I don't believe Jackson or Barrack believe everything they say. Everything is scripted and practiced. In there own words...they sound like idiots.

Did Obama attend a sermon of Rev. Jackson? I bet this sermon would be more "lively" than Rev. Wright. Maybe we could have a competition for the two "men-of-the-cloth".
