Obama Says Trip Abroad Might Hurt Him Politically
July 26, 2008 8:15 AM
LONDON -- "I am not sure that there is going to be some immediate
political impact," Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, told reporters today
about his eight-day, eight-country world tour.
"I wouldn’t even be surprised if that in some polls that you saw a
little bit of a dip as a consequence we have been out of the country
for a week," he said. "People are worried about gas prices and home
foreclosures."
Obama was also asked about Sen. John McCain's reference to Obama's trip as a "premature victory lap."
"It is hard for me to understand Senator McCain’s argument," Obama
said. "He was telling me I was suppose to take this trip. He suggested
it and thought it was a good idea -- although I have to admit we had it
planned before he made the suggestion."
Obama said that "John McCain has visited every one of these countries
post-primary that I have. He has given speeches in Canada, in Colombia,
Mexico, he made visits. And so it doesn’t strike me that we have done
anything different than the McCain campaign has done which is to
recognize that part of the job of the next president, commander in
chief is to forge effective relationships with our allies."

Obama in his speech to the Germans said he was SORRY ABOUT HIS COUNTRY BECAUSE "I KNOW MY COUNTRY HAS NOT PERFECTED ITESELF"!THIS COMMENT WAS MADE IN THE FORMER SEAT OF NAZI POWER!!!This was a spectacle for a presidential wanna be going to a foreign land to apologize about the United States!! While this country may not be perfect no one should apologize to the Germans, the architects of the HOLOCAUST!!

"It's embarrassing -- it's embarrassing when Europeans come over here, they all speak English. They speak French, they speak German. And then we go over to Europe and all we can say is merci beaucoup." -- Barack Obama in a speech to a Hispanic group last month (the same one where he said all Americans should be required to learn Spanish). Yet he gives a speech to the Germain people, on Germain soil ... in English. Is anyone else bothered by the hypocrisy of this?

It is too bad that Obama didn't seize the opportunity and use this trip to visit as many troops overseas as possible. I found it truly perplexing that he spent more time hob-nobbing with foreign leaders, giving a speech to the German people and posing for the media than he spent actually talking to the troops. I think that the criticism about Obama's trip is focused on the fact that prior to the trip, he said he was going on a "fact-finding Mission" to learn more about the war in Iraq yet he spent only a few mere hours talking with troops and US military leaders in Iraq.

Obama will smash McCain in any debate anytime, anywhere and on any topic.
Obama is smart whereas McCain cannot even put his thoughts together.
Obama is Havard educated and law prof while McCain finished six from bottom in his airpilot class of 900 students. He couldnt even take his target and flee the enemy zone in vietnam.
McCain may be experienced but is bringing failed policies back on the table. Obama is offering new brilliant policies.
If I have to chose between experience and good judgment, I`d chose good judgment over experience any day.
And thats Barack Obama.

No he won't he does great with teleprompters. But without them he stumbles and fumbles for words and a lot of uh, uh's. He is brilliant but his plans and policies are not what I want for america. His plans and policies he wants it turns out are far different from Clintons.

"Obama's speach in Berlin is evidence that he wants to give this country away. One world order? "
That's probably the reason for the quasi-military civilian coalition of the witless he is proposing.

" This trip was a photo ops and political pandering of the worst type in Germany and other countries. He has lost respect because of this trip."
His is just showing his disdain for typical Americans.

With a production company in tow, staged events and leaflet distribu-
tions, the crowds were inevitable. Take away Obama's PR team and his oratorial skills, and what do you have??? Hot air! Words without substance! Just what does he want to change, and what's his plan???? If he can't see that the surge has worked, I seriously question his ability to be a commander-in-chief.

"Part of the job of the next president, commander in chief is to forge effective relationships with our allies," and to visit quietly our wounded soldiers, and never to show rock star type of speech to German young people.

Funny Americans.
You don't want the world to choose your president, yet the policies he makes while in office affects the entire world.
People in Berlin just made a point...to remind you...

You had to wait for the Wright story to be aired??? It was on the internet years before. All you had to do is look. I did my homework when BHO arrived on the scene.
His church's web site was allot more scary back then. It has been tamed down for the masses quite a bit. If Americans put him in office in November, then we are truly a bunch of morons that do not deserve liberty and freedom.

This European gig of Obama`s has become somewhat scary. Sounds like speech after speech was on the subject of the benefits World Socialism.
As for myself, I have become disillusioned on the change Obama speaks of. The further we get into this nomination process, the more like George Bush he becomes.
I once read that every candidate except two were members of CFR - Council on Foreign Relation. Obama and his wife are members. The CFR has an agenda of Globalization, sounds to me like Obama wil just further the agenda of the CFR. If this be true it will be very hard to distinguish from GW or Obama.

All this talk about Obama and his Kennedy type style and politics.... Kennedy said in his most famous speach "ask not what your country can do for you..." His whole campain message is about what this country is going to give to you. Obama's speach in Berlin is evidence that he wants to give this country away. One world order? I think he's been watching to many Star Trek re-runs.

To: Kopeski -
The "doom" we're headed for (and many of us are fighting to stay out of)is the "doom" Europe has been wallowing in for years.

You think? The trip will hurt him politically? Everytime he pulls these theatrics to try and monopolize the press's attention he hurts himself politically. People want more than an actor for President this time around. The only reason the press is so infatuated with him is because he made history being the first black man running for President. If it wasn't for that he'd just be another guy running for President. Enjoy it while you can Obama because when it comes down to the nitty gritty, people will not vote for you in November. Good riddance!

I'm still waiting for Nobama to define his use of the word CHANGE that he seems to be campaigning on! He seems to me to be too charismatic and sways the downtroddin with his promises of a nondefined change in this country. I have always ended any political discussion with the following:" No matter whose hand turns the organgrinders crank, the monkey will do the same dance." However I now only wish that I could believe that. I feel that Nobama will be playing the fiddle while the U.S. burns. It is so easy to point the finger at those in office and blame them for almost anything but everytime the guard changes there is no great change in the upkeep of the country. There is only so much that can be done by parties fighting each other in uncommon goals.

Message to US journalists:
Americans don't care if the Germans and French like our next president. Want to know why? We don't trust foreigners, and we certainly would not let them choose OUR next president. When will France or Germany let us choose their next president? Huh? This whole "Obama European Tour" was just blatant propaganda dreamed up by the Dems and the liberal US media to promote Obama over McCain. I challenge anyone reading this to count the number of positive Obama stories vs positive McCain stories in the biased US media. The media outlets are selling Obama as the "next JFK" - but this is 2008, not 1963! We neither want nor need another JFK! Stop trying to choose our next president for us, OK? We will do that on election day!

Yes, AGT-R, I agree with you. I suspect Obama is embarrased to be an American. Towards the end of his Berlin speech, he said he knows how imperfect America is - how many mistakes we've made, and he notes the many times when our actions around the world have not lived up to our best intentions...then he almost realizes he's overdoing the moment. Then, in a belated and embarrased tone, he says "but" I also love America. But what? He just seems so embarrased for us in Berlin, and that he's trying explain why we're so lame...like he's translating for them our lameness. If it's so lame here, then why is he running for President? It's very convenient for him to pull the everything-in-America-has-been-so-unjust-and-lame-until-I-ran-for-President card, and now he and his wife thinks is okay to be proud of America afterall. It didn't rate before, but now it's okay...at least until we see how the general election turns out, of course.

All you Americans, especially those republicans, you guys ought to be thinking of what your country will be like in the next 8 years compared to other nations. Your economy is dwindling at an alarming rate, the so-called world-Power title is becoming an illusion...just incase your politicians have been giving you fake hopes. Therefore you need a president with a foresight and who is willing to face the future, not the one that boast of achievements and high positions that never went beyond his CV. I will not mention a candidate, cos I won't be voting - my non-American rights exempts me from that. But I do expect that your common sense is not that rotten yet. So open your EYES...sometimes you guys need to go out of your country a bit to look at it from outside, you might have a wider, less-complicated view of what doom you guys are heading to

"I am a citizen of the world" Well then why don't you run for the UN, BHO? We, in the U.S. need a president for THIS country not an appeaser like the French and Germans

Obama learned NOTHING in Iraq, as stated by his nobleness when he said he disagrees with the generals on a withdrawal. In his mind he knows better than the military generals and this trip changed nothing.
ONE day in Iraq does not give him the foreign experience he so desperately wants to apply to his resume. Again, nothing but speeches on empty rhetoric while the rest of us empty our pockets at the pump and fall more behind on mortgages.
It is one thing to have made the trip to Iraq to learn more about the situation on the ground, it is another to continue to keep the same opinions after learning the truth from the generals living the war. I am voting against Obama's arrogance in November.
