That's Hot

"Andy Warhol said we all get our 15 minutes of fame. I've already had an hour and a half. I mean, I'm so overexposed, I'm making Paris Hilton look like a recluse."

-- Then-Senator-elect Barack Obama, D-Ill., Gridiron Dinner, December 2004

Yes, he was arrogant back then in 2004. Look at him now! I don't think he could be more obnoxious and full of himself if he tried.

mlwheeler and ABC "words have a meaning only in a context", please learn that reality and stop making very naive and superficial comments by comparing what you said that Obama said and what a political campaign is mischaracterizing a great leader like Obama. Please send back McSame the Commander in Chief of Panama to the Panama Canal. God save America from McSame. Goid bless America and God bless Obama. OBAMA08.

You gotta hand it to the man: he IS funny!

Is this supposed to diminish the pettiness of the McCain video comparing Obama to Paris and Brit? There was apparently good effort and time made to dig up the Obama quote from 4 years ago in which he compares himself to Paris. I happened to discover a specific Paris response while googling on this quote:
"I think it's really hot that Barry reveals his sensitivities like that, I mean like really, truly, absolutely hot. You know, we've gotta get away from all that macho political crap for the sake of, you know, the planet."

To "Just thinking":

Senators Obama. Clinton and Edwards were participating in a debate co-sponsored by the Congressional Black Caucus on MLK Day this year (1/21/2008). Earlier the same day they all marched in an MLK Day Parade in Columbia, SC.

The day before Obama gave a speech from the same pulpit MLK preached from in Atlanta at Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Obama is vain and more worried about his image than the country. Prancing all over Europe to impress them.

He did not impress Americans, His Speech in Germany was an insult to Americans. His refusal to visit the wouded in Germany was an Insult.

Maybe his world tour was to promote himself for his next campaign for world leader.

Obama has a history of always running for an office, he is looking forward to what he really wants.

McCain has been sleepwalking and bumbling his way through this campaign
and yet Obama just can't break out that far ahead of him. Obama needs to get his arrogance in check otherwise he's in for a big surprise in November.

"But then what would you expect from someone like McCain who voted against having a national holiday for Martin Luther King.

_____________

On the other hand, McCain... and the Clintons were the ones who showed up to honor him this all these years.

Obama was missing in action (campaigning) during all festivities for Martin Luther King this year.

..too busy trying to shore up HIS dream to celebrated Martin Luthers!

Senator Obama needs to set aside now. He is losing in the polls. I just saw one where he was 12 points behind.
The voters are now seeing his true colors.

Huh? Who was he talking too? Was he joking? What's the whole story?

Posted by: irma | Jul 30, 2008 11:19:28 PM

The spin on both sides on these posts is getting ridiculous. It's just getting to the point of seeing who can make the most over the top statement. the comments used to be fun to read, but both sides are taking themselves way too seriously.

He should have quit while he was ahead.

Posted by: robes | Jul 30, 2008 10:50:52 PM

Obama's offhand joking remark doesn't remotely compare to McCain's malicious press release today.

It's an insult to all Americans to put Senator Obama in the same category as celebrities such as Paris and Britney.

But then what would you expect from someone like McCain who voted against having a national holiday for Martin Luther King.

The ability to laugh at oneself is healthy and vital for a politician. The tendency to use mockery and slander against your opponent instead of facing him head-on and to laugh at your own jokes before anybody else does, is not.

This election season, the choise is simple.

Ah yes,
the ever popular postings from those who are more afraid of change (even though they have never read the policies) and think it should be handed off to someone who has flopped on more items than this blog permits to list, screws up even who is training who in regards to terrorism, (his "specialty, he knows how to win wars") he can't even keep names straight....

I could go on and on, but really- what's the point- McCain is bending over for every single Republican policy that has screwed this country for 8 years.

Tell McCain to take his out of touch, I can afford to act down to earth because my wife takes care of me a s s off to Aruba.

That man has no idea what actual Americans need.

Ohhh, yahhh. Be a movie star, make it good with Paris. Will sell better than Father's Dreams book.

Posted by: joker | Jul 30, 2008 10:29:41 PM

Just give in to it. The Obama is inevitable. Anymore vetting is unnecessary, it will just be additional excess press. The Obama is the most important celebrity in a lifetime. His accomplishments are yet to come. He is purely a symbol of hope. It's time to pay the Obama.

Are the people who send money to the Obama campaign getting their monies worth? How could the dems spend so much and be losing ground in the polls. Obama thinks he the one that the world has been waiting for but yet he's behind in some of the most recent polls. I think that is called "egomania".

Posted by: Greg | Jul 30, 2008 10:12:34 PM

One more observation-
It depends on if you are targeting the perez hilton audience or the political audience.

Politically, he did get more coverage than Paris.

Perez- I'm sure he was lacking.

So apples and oranges- what a comparison.

Posted by: Sally | Jul 30, 2008 10:02:53 PM

Umm.... well, you've showed Obama has a sense of humor. Otherwise, I really don't get this blog one bit. (OH, and aside from the humor, the statement was factual)

SO, your point?
