The McCain Campaign's Anti-Obama Video
July 17, 2008 4:48 PM
Obama v Obama on all sorts of issues pertaining to Iraq.
In his own words, with McCain's interpretation: "Barack Obama's Position: Whatever the Politics Demand."
What's with that weird music in the background?

Listed below are links to weblogs that reference The McCain Campaign's Anti-Obama Video:
"...or the way Bush just copied Obama and decided to talk to Iran?
Obamama, I suggest you quit now on that one. You're demonstrating a distressing lack of knowledge of the Iran issue.
A) Bush is not talking to Iran, Condoleeza Rice is.
B) What Condoleeza Rice is telling them is that if they want to talk or negotiate, they have to demonstrably prove they have suspended uranium enrichment.
C) Then, and only then, will there be any "talks".
D) Obama said he would talk to them "without preconditions". See B above for what it means to have preconditions.
Thank you, thank you, I'll be here all week.

Fantastic ad that perfectly paints Obama as a master of double-talk. He thinks Americans are too dumb to either remember or figure out what he is saying.
McCain needs clips of his flips on FISA, guns, abortion, Israel being undivided, and Iran is no threat/ a grave threat.
This ad shows what many of us already knew--Obama changes to appease his audience and is not qualified to lead this country.

The video was weak. I wasn't impressed. But kudos for trying!
The McCain vs. McCain videos are much more entertaining.
And the surge is only one factor in the reduction of violence in Iraq. The Mahdi Army cease fire, the Sunni Awakening and all those walls we built in Baghdad to keep the warring factions from killing eachother have been huge contributors to the reduction in violence. The Sunni Awakening is what has put Al Qaeda on the run in Iraq, not the surge. The media needs to do a better job of pointing these things out.

Y'all have got it wrong! Obama's not a flop-flipper like Kerry, he's a guy who sees what's going on and realigns his thoughts according to how world events change.

Just for General Obama's information, the "Troops" he refers to that we have protecting Embassies around the world are small Marine Security Guard Detachments. Each are armed with small arms and have no jurisdiction or mission outside the gates of the Embassy.
I'm sure that the Embassy in Iraq will have a larger Detachment and probably will maintain some supply of "extra" weapons, but they will have no supporting arms, no air support, no "Troops" to call on for help aside from the local Iraqi security forces. Unless of course that we maintain a real "Troop" presence elsewhere in country.
When I served as a Marine Security Guard, the Detachment in Paris numbered around 30. Now, 30 motivated Marines can do plenty of damage, but come on Barry, give us a break!

Are you serious, snarxon?? Rove?? Have you been paying attention to the past...hmmmm, nine years of politics?? It doesn't look like.

McCain is not for torture -- he is vehemently against it, having gone through it -- So get your facts straight, please. There is enough misinformation out there.

McRove? That sure changed my vote!
Seriously, Obama's next move will be to appoint Cheney as VP.

Damn - THAT is a good ad. That ad is so good, I'm going to send a check to McCain, and I swore I never would. If he can throw a few more punches like that I'll feel better about him.
Posted by: vite | Jul 18, 2008 1:32:09 AM
With this approach, McCain's people could easily co-opt Obama's main selling pitch, "Change."
Posted by: Loyola | Jul 18, 2008 12:13:21 AM
Maybe people will know that Senator Obama is a flake, fluke and a fake. He lacks intelligence, intergity, judgment and experience. He will never be elected.
Posted by: Mary | Jul 17, 2008 11:25:08 PM
Good first crack by the McCain people.
Now cut it down to the most damning 30 second clips, and start buying time during every consecutive commercial break of major network TV shows, which means you can get 8 of them into an hour.
Posted by: unitra | Jul 17, 2008 11:14:40 PM
Actually, McCain could have hit Obama much harder on his many reversals of position and policy proposals since 2004.
Perhaps the Obama position revolves around politics.
More likely it revolves around money.

jack,
did you know obama paid staff are around 2000 people more than Bush's white house???
Posted by: Frieda | Jul 17, 2008 8:22:14 PM
Eight minutes seems a bit much for what could have been taken care of in a few quick jabs. And does it sully his rep as a "clean" campaigner?
Posted by: matt | Jul 17, 2008 8:21:36 PM
What's up with that music....it sort of gives me the creeps, just like Obama. What an unabashed chameleon. Despicable.
Posted by: 58 states | Jul 17, 2008 8:03:34 PM
Obama not only was totally wrong on the Surge and inconsistent on views of Iraq, I REALLY BELIEVE THAT OBAMA DOES NOT KNOW WHAT HE BELIEVES OR EVEN WHO HE IS.
Posted by: Manitu | Jul 17, 2008 7:58:57 PM
Wonderful, wonderful Ad - out of his own mouth - ooops! What a serial liar Obama is! Flip-flopper is too nice a word for him. Go get him, John -expose him for what he is. Wake up, America!
Posted by: Beckie | Jul 17, 2008 7:54:00 PM
Obama is woefully ill-prepared to be President. Plus, he's spun around in his positions so much that no one can be certain what he stands for or what he'll do.
Posted by: HoosierSue | Jul 17, 2008 7:37:54 PM
Wow, I did not realize how wishy washy Obama is on the subject. Makes you say hmmm.
Posted by: WIvoter | Jul 17, 2008 7:35:12 PM
The video shows Obama is a liar. The sad thing is that he changes his stance to fit the day. I do not want to see a president who has such weak convictions.
Posted by: Ted | Jul 17, 2008 7:33:44 PM
New strategy for obama. Since polls show voters much prefer McCain over Obama by a WIDE margin in foreign and national defense, THE IDEA IS TO MAKE PEOPLE THINK THAT BUSH AND MCCAIN ARE FOLLOWING OBAMA'S IDEAS. OLD - MARXIST TRICK - MASTERS OF DECEIT!!
Posted by: Manitu | Jul 17, 2008 7:30:33 PM
And he had the nerve to attack Sen. Clinton with 'do anything, say anything to get elected'...
She stands by her positions (see FISA) this clown has no priciples, a 'new kind of politician' pfft!
Posted by: Savant | Jul 17, 2008 7:29:44 PM
Temagami.
According to recent polls, only 19% of likely voters consider Iraq itself to be an issue this fall. With the rise of the Iran situation, the issue of Iraq takes on a whole new dimension -which leaves Obama clueless.
Posted by: Manitu | Jul 17, 2008 7:22:08 PM
Sure, it is an effective ad. How many undecided voters will watch it? Not many. In the end, voters will decide on who they trust moving forward... or they'll vote on other issues like the economy. Bottom line: there isn't a single quote in there that is the silver bullet against Obama like Kerry's "I voted for it before I voted against it" line.

How will Obama in increasing the capital gains tax affect seniors on more or less a fixed income who depend on dividends to make ends meet? Anybody out there??
Posted by: Jimbo | Jul 17, 2008 7:12:27 PM
the music is what it is.
and obama is a humbug indeed
Posted by: the patriot | Jul 17, 2008 7:12:16 PM
Not good for Obama, but it shows how weak McCain is on the issue. He's too busy bashing Obama to stand by his embattled position that we must stay in Iraq indefinitely.
Posted by: matt | Jul 17, 2008 7:12:01 PM
During the planning for the Surge, Obama was one of those who predicted that not only would the Surge not work, the Surge would cause legions of terrorists to spring up in Iraq and create even more chaos. RESULTS - SURGE IS A MAJOR SUCCESS AND.... MORE CHAOS DID NOT HAPPEN - JUST THE OPPOSITE!! Good example of how unprepared Obama is in the field of foreign policy and national defense. AND... one of the many reasons why recent polls show lopsided confidence for McCain over Obama in the fields of foreign policy and national defense.
Posted by: Temagami | Jul 17, 2008 7:03:44 PM
how can you watch this tape and still believe Obama has a true character...anything to get him to the power!
it's funny and he wanted to brand himself a "different" kind of politicians!
Posted by: Frieda | Jul 17, 2008 6:55:57 PM
LOL, I really cannot believe that anyone with an ounce of common sense would really be considering "McBush".
Posted by: Justin Right | Jul 17, 2008 6:55:13 PM
Interesting to see all of these people talk about copying the same day that MCbush copies Obamas position on national security. Why does such an experienced military vet/senator COPY the new guy. I thought McBush was the go to guy on national security. guess not

SO, CAN THERE BE ANY DOUBT NOW? NEWS NETWORKS IN THE TANK FOR OBAMA? Obama has chosen three network news anchors to accompany the Obama campaign on the the upcoming mid-east trip. Hmmmmm.. I wonder if FOX will be represented? I am very thankful that I only use my TV for sports and videos.

Indeed, we believe that eternal vigilance is fundamental to democracy and that, as we discovered beyond doubt on May 31, 2008, our core democractic principles need to be defended even from those political leaders who claim to be their greatest defenders, though they are not.
During the 2008 nomination process, millions of Americans opposed the media’s biased coverage of the Democratic Party’s candidates. We spoke clearly with our votes and with our support for Senator Hillary Clinton, and we demanded that the leaders of the Democratic Party publicly and loudly denounce all biased coverage against one of our party’s presidential candidates.
For months, our own party’s leaders refused to hear us, and some of them even used their appearances in the media to add to the unequal treatment that Senator Clinton had to work so hard to overcome.
In order to achieve our goal, we are calling on the American people to reject the candidate that THEY selected to be the Democratic Party’s nominee. And, along with ensuring the electoral humiliation of Senator Barack Obama in November, we are calling on the American people to reject each and every one of the failed Democratic Party leaders who selected Obama for the party’s presidential nomination, even though he — THEIR selectee — does not represent many constituencies of the Democratic Party.
Posted by: DemocratNoMore2 | Jul 17, 2008 6:47:09 PM
the patriot, remind me now, who won that Democratic nomination? Oh yeah, the guy who just copies everything. Winning is such sweet revenge.
Posted by: obamamama | Jul 17, 2008 6:36:31 PM
the patriot, like the way McCain just copied Obama's stance on increasing troops in Afghanistan or the way Bush just copied Obama and decided to talk to Iran?
Posted by: obamamama | Jul 17, 2008 6:34:19 PM
This is mild. Wait until you see the Obama vs Obama clips that will appear in October, when regular voters are actually paying attention. Obama will be all, "Don't pay any attention to that man behind the curtain. I am the Great Obama!"
Posted by: Buford Gooch | Jul 17, 2008 6:30:52 PM
I thought Obama was different? What a unaccomplished fraud!
Posted by: John in Cape May | Jul 17, 2008 6:24:07 PM
obamamama,
yes i know you can, because obama never had an original ad during the primaries.
all his and his crew know to do is copy.
just as they did sen. clinton.
I am sure within 24 hours we will see an obama ad just as mccain' is.
nothing original
obama only copies.

thinking people will not be distracted by the music. who cares?
Posted by: the patriot | Jul 17, 2008 6:12:09 PM
just watched the video,
all I can say is.
from obama' own mouth, I would like to see how he will say any of it is not true.
on this one...
I think we got him, if he don't jump

Obama in his own words: convicted of changing his mind often.
This sort of thing is fun and perhaps disturbing to the Obama worshippers, but otherwise the number of times one changes one's mind doesn't determine character. The evidence suggesting a change does: not what you win but what you are willing to lose by a change of position. In plain terms, saying "Yeah, I was wrong about that."
Where Obama loses with this is not saying "new evidence, new position". He keeps trying to defend his character instead and that leads him right to where McCain wants him. He has the arrogance; he lacks the humility required for true self-confidence.
And it shows.

What is John McCain's position?
Just a week ago, he said things were going great in Afghanistan and there was no need for more soldiers in Afghanistan.
I guess McCain never listened to the Afghanistan military leaders on his trips there. How could McCain with 26 years of experience, forget Al Qaeda is our #1 enemy. McCain's votes allowed Al Qaeda to become stronger now than they were before Iraq.

Just one word: disgusting!!
McFossil is really a disgrace for this country.
Posted by: Mark Webb | Jul 17, 2008 5:22:46 PM
