When Fox Attacks
July 07, 2008 7:58 AM
After New York Times reporter Jacques Steinberg wrote a story about Fox News Channel that officials at the cable news network apparently did not like, Fox & Friends ran doctored, unflattering photos of the two men.
The altered photo of Steinberg in particular has struck some within the Times building as a tad anti-Semitic.
Times columnist David Carr today -- in a larger look at Fox News' dealings with the media -- compares the altered image to "vintage German propaganda, his ears were pulled out, his teeth splayed apart, his forehead lowered and his nose was widened and enlarged in a way that made him look more like Fagin than the guy I work with." And Times television columnist Bill Carter concurs.
Fox News spokesman Brian Lewis disputes the notion that there was any bias at play, calling it "vile and untrue."
Your thoughts?

Brigitte, yes, Fox shouldn't have done it. But New York Times is such a joke I'm sure they couldn't resist.
Again, your selective fury is hilarious. You could care less when the others do it. Oh, wait, you probably didn't HEAR about it when the liberal media did it, did you?
Only Fox News bothers to report that stuff.
So again, you make my point.

jo....so you do have the same observational skills as an amoeba, seeing only left and right while unable to look up and down.....now that's funny!
Posted by: chris | Jul 7, 2008 1:17:48 PM
Chris, for me to be a neo-con, I would have had to be a liberal once and changed my mind.
I never was a liberal. I've always thought for myself.
And if you think PBS, NPR and BBC are centrist then you have had a lobotomy.
Nice try though, but you lose again.
Posted by: Jo | Jul 7, 2008 1:17:08 PM
isn't it hilarious that neo-conservatives are so easily amused by such simple things as big words and thoughts?
Posted by: chris | Jul 7, 2008 1:15:47 PM
Ben you and Brigitte are both embarrassing yourselves with your silly attacks at Fox.
Just be honest and admit you can't stand them because they expose your party for what it is while you're use to 99% great coverage of democrats by the other news outlets.
In other words, the truth hurts. Especially when you're not use to it.

Jo you are embarrassing and losing credibility in the process by contining to defend the indefensible. Camera angles and altering photos are entirely different things. You do know that don't you?
Posted by: brigitte | Jul 7, 2008 1:15:09 PM
Jo - I didn't here about it because I don't read the Globe or LA Times. I read the FOX website, but I do not watch Hannity or OReilly because I find them arrogant and reckless in there molding of minds such as yours.

even-handed, neutral news such as NPR, PBS and BBC are very much centrist and as unbiased as any news out there....of course, the center is still to the left of the often-ignorant right wing mentality, so from an inferior 2-dimensional form of thinking, I guess it might be correct for some with a conservative ideology to consider those news organizations as "liberal"
Posted by: chris | Jul 7, 2008 1:13:22 PM
Ben, yes they were outted. By FOX NEWS. Thank God.
If not for them and talk radio, they would have gotten away with it.
So you prove my point.
Thanks.

Ben, actually I think the photoshopping of LA Times & Boston Globe to make a heroic US soldier look like he's aiming his gun at small children is MUCH worse.
Oh, you didn't hear about that? That's right, because you don't watch Fox.
So again, don't expect fury from us.
Lol. This is fun.
Posted by: Jo | Jul 7, 2008 1:11:51 PM
Jo - Those other outlets were outed, and now it is FOX's turn yet again. This article is focused on FOX's new blunder, and I find it pretty funny.
Posted by: Ben Straub | Jul 7, 2008 1:11:01 PM
At least Hannity, O'Reilly admit their bias. Those are labled as OPINION shows.
The other news outlets pretend to be unbiased journalists who present the news in their biased way.
Again, you guys lose.
Posted by: Jo | Jul 7, 2008 1:10:06 PM
Yes, there have been plenty of uncoverings of fraud on CNN, AP, UPI, etc. etc. with photoshopping, labeling the picture of Bush with ass&*%^ etc. I guess you guys missed the stories about the liberal Boston Globe and LA Times who photoshopped pics of US soldiers to make them look evil.
It's all been revealed on Fox. So again, don't expect any fury from us.
Posted by: Jo | Jul 7, 2008 1:09:05 PM
by the way, fox news does have a few good elements to it, shepard smith, alan colmes, etc., but they are largely overshadowed by the ignorance and false sense of arrogance by those such as hannity and o'reilly (though o'reilly has displayed behavior which suggests he is the less intelligent of the two)
Posted by: chris | Jul 7, 2008 1:08:41 PM
Jo - There is a difference between camera angle and big noses. Fox has some ligitamate news, but doctoring noses?
Posted by: Ben Straub | Jul 7, 2008 1:07:28 PM
Love to hear the whining from Fox haters after what? 40 plus years of having the mainstream liberal media all on their side.
Now the truth is out there and they can't stand it.
LOL. Love it.
Posted by: Jo | Jul 7, 2008 1:06:47 PM
I guess you guys have missed those times when CNN & others took pictures at angles to have weird menacing backgrounds when republicans are on stage.
We've seen plenty of this from the mainstream liberal media.
So don't expect any fury from Fox fans.
Posted by: Jo | Jul 7, 2008 1:05:19 PM
fox generally is defensive about the worst president in U.S. history and his supporters who, collectively, are slowly destroying all that makes America great.....not sure what that makes them, except that it means they are probably as dangerously ignorant as those they generally seek to protect
Posted by: chris | Jul 7, 2008 1:04:59 PM
Brigitte, they all do it, so you can't single out Fox.
People even made fun of CNN who had 24/7 coverage of Anna Nicole Smith's death.
So nice try, but you lose again.
Posted by: Jo | Jul 7, 2008 12:57:58 PM
I thought we were discussing the altering of pictures by a "news network" Fox News. I don't remember CNN altering any pictures. Are you saying CNN did?
Posted by: brigitte | Jul 7, 2008 1:03:52 PM
Fact: ALL of the 24 hour news outlets have a LOT of entertainment stuff.
24 hours is a lot of time to fill.
But if you want to know what is really going on, watch Brit Hume, Neil Cavuto, Megyn Kelly, Bill Hemmer, Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity, etc.
They'll spill the ugly truth on the democrats, and it bugs the crap out of them. Good! :)
Posted by: Jo | Jul 7, 2008 1:03:42 PM
Jo - Did I mention I am a Ron Paul republican. That's right I am a member of the same party that you are. Pretty hilarious really. We are going down because of your ilk and what you guys have done to our party. Therefore we are both going to lose!
