Wolfson on Fox: Hillary Apparently Not Being Vetted for VP

July 10, 2008 11:43 PM

Howard Wolfson, the former top aide for Sen. Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign, told Fox News Channel's Sean Hannity tonight that his former boss does not appear to be on Sen. Barack Obama's short list for VP.

Watch HERE.

Has she been asked to participate in the vetting process for VP? Hannity asked.

"Not as far as I know," Wolfson said, repeating with other sources close to Clinton tell ABC News.

On the other hand, Wolfson noted, "there is more information  about Hillary Clinton available in the public record than just about any other public figure in America, she's been vetted now for a long time."

Wolfson noted more than 30 years of taxes that Clinton has made public, as well as various financial disclosure forms and the fact that she ran for president for 18 months and was heavily scrutinized.

"There's a lot of information out about her that I know Sen. Obama is privy to," Wolfson said, "and that may be sufficient for him to make whatever decision he wants to make."

Well, in the sense that Barack Obama already knows all he needs to know about Hillary Clinton to make this decision, I think that's right.

If that's what Wolfson means.

But I'm not sure it is.

She is unfit for VP, after invoking the RFK assasination in regards to Obama.

if hillary ISN'T the vp - then i'm voting for mccain.....

I for one do not want Hillary to be Obama's running mate. She is much too smart to be #2 and he is wayyyy too unqualified to be president. I wouldn't want to see her dragged down by his certain failed presidency. She's much better off without him.

If he is the nominee, I will be voting for McCain because Obama just cannot be trusted. With all his flip flops (public campaign finance, FISA, late term abortion, gun control, faith-based initiatives) I have no idea what he stands for (if anything). He definitely is not THE ONE.

well many of the downline dems up for reelection want sen. clinton with them not obama.

I am glad she is not being vetted by the obama' for vp, she does not need to be on the ticket with obama.

I am listening to cynthia mckinney, and she is sounding pretty good.

talking about impeaching bush and chaney.

Obama is making a serious mistake in not considering Hillary for VP. He is hardly a man of substance; a flip-flopping changeling who turns on his most ardent supporters. He needs Hillary's 18 million votes if he is to have a chance of winning. Otherwise myself and many others will vote for McCain in November.

No, Hillary does not need to be on that train when it goes off the tracks. She would indeed be lowering her standards.
First requirement of the VP: Be able to flip-flop,flip-flop,flip-flop.

Obama is a horrible candidate and HRC outshines him in every regard. He can't make her VP because she's way more popular and effective and smarter than he is...she'd outshine him. Obama didn't win the nomination...anyone who knows anything about the Democratic Party process knows this. He was declared the presumptive nominee through delegate reallocation and voter disenfranchisement...but, super delegates don't vote until the convention. It'll be interesting to see what happens then. Obama is so awful, even his delegates will want to vote for someone who can win in November -- HRC.

Many strong Hillary supporters don't want her to take VP. She has a good career in the Senate, is happy as the Senator from NY. She has stated that she does not want to be VP and will only take it if requested as a favor to the party. There is even a petition signed by her supporters asking her not to accept VP.

Well, if there were any doubt about it, Hillary's "Nay" vote on the FISA bill ends the discussion. She certainly wasn't showing solidarity with Obama on that one, and given all the flack he's taking for it, I think her vote says it all.

Hillary did not lose because of a bad campaign. The reallity was that our mainstream corporate media attacked her and vilified her day in and day out 24/7, while puting Obama while praisng Obama 24/7. In essence, the corporate media once interferred with our election process by being overtly bias in the same way that Gore was portrayed as a serial liar by these same people, nd how the swiftboaters were given legitemacy by the MSM

Posted by: CJbushwacker | Jul 13, 2008 8:31:45 AM

why should Obama pick a VP who called him less qualified than the republican candidate? who predicted he couldn't win in november? and who lied repeatedly about having landed under sniper fire in tuzla? she is a serial liar whose presence on the ticket just might be the shot in the arm that McCain needs. i for one am holding off on any donations to Obama, until i'm sure Hillary won't be on the ticket.

Posted by: skeptik | Jul 13, 2008 12:56:35 AM

Onless he has a death wish ..Obama won't pick Hillary as V.P.

Posted by: orange cat | Jul 13, 2008 12:25:00 AM

Obama isn't smart enough to pick the one candidate that might be able to help him win. No one else has the voter draw she has. Obama is too insecure to share the spotlight with the two most famous democrats of our time.

Posted by: JIKR | Jul 12, 2008 9:24:55 PM

common sense I'm with you,

I hope he picks her also,
because he is going to lose, and I don't want sen. clinton tied to obama,
in any way.

Why would Obama choose a veep who doesn't have enough support to raise the money to pay off her campaign debt? Why would Obama choose a veep who is fiscally irresponsible?

I hope he chooses Sebelius!

Obama 08!

hillary a bad candidate? ....funny, she got half the votes of the dem primary voters...

Posted by: tr | Jul 12, 2008 2:22:13 AM

Hillary was and is a terrible candidate. Look how she ran her campaign. These candidates look at the polls. Having Hillary as VP loses votes. The people on this list are too blinded by Clinton hysteria to realize that.

Look at realclearpolitics. Obama is winning the key states and is 6 to 8 points ahead of McCain.

The Clintons are creepy thugs. They claim to have had something to do with the Internet economy of the 90's. In fact they had nothing to do with it. Do they look like technology savy people?

Ditto : Can't say it better than IdahoDem did!

Posted by: Beckie | Jul 11, 2008 7:45:51 PM

It just might be that the Clintons have asked not to be vetted. Bills post prez foreign deals and library donor lists seem like a subject they would like to keep to themselves let alone open up to a political rival.

Posted by: Larry | Jul 11, 2008 5:17:45 PM

Can't say it better than IdahoDem did:

"Obama won't select Hillary. He's too insecure as a man, and as a politician to have someone equal to or more competent than he is in his space. Afterall, it's all about Him! Denver's Mile-High Stadium and the entire city of Berlin are too small for this U.S. President wannabe's ego."
