Democrats Proudly Plan to Play AGE Card in Toledo Tomorrow

August 28, 2008 4:28 PM

Democrats are eagerly sending around a story from the Dallas Morning News, reporting that "mischievous Democrats" are planning on meeting Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., in Toledo tomorrow, on McCain's 72nd birthday, with a cake with 72 candles on it.

The Ohio Democratic Party says, "The party will feature a birthday cake with 72 candles and a mobile billboard featuring a photo that tells voters everything they need to know about John McCain -- and his eager embrace of George Bush's failed policies, with the message, 'Does This Look Like Change To You.'"

Says the Morning News: "Not a poke at McCain's age, certainly not, a national party official insists. You'd put 20 candles on the cake for a 20-year-old. Shouldn't you put 72 candles on the cake of a 72-year-old?"

This coincides with a Democratic convention week where speakers are trotting out all sorts of senility-conjuring language when describing the GOP nominee: "old," "tired," "asleep at the switch," and "kindly Old Doc McCain."

Obama should never call anyone on age. Not with his memory.

"Hype Bites, I liked your post: "Seems with the progressive left that womanhood and age are OK to mock and disparage, but being black is not."

__________----

Well of course!

Especially if you're black!

This is beyond disgusting. I thought Democrats were the champions of all races, creeds, sexual orientations and ages. Don't they know you're not allowed to discriminate against a job applicant because of age?

Never mind that they're going to turn off much of Hillary's demographic, what they're doing is offensive and truly wrong.

"Should Joe Biden ever make it to a second term, he would be older than John McCain is today if he had to assume the office of President."

See my fellow stupid liberals age is a realistic question for the Democrats!

Forget that John McCain is the age he is TODAY and running for President NOW.

RW logic- an oxymoron if there ever was one.

This coming from a campaign whose candidate thinks there are 57 states? Thinks the Great Lakes are in Oregon? A little over a week ago, Obama said 48 states. The bomb dropped on Hawaii? Don't get me started. What he did in West Virginia, was shameful. I think that stump speech should go down in history for the most gaffs in one speech.

Obama should never call anyone on age. Not with his memory.

This is really, really not smart of the Obama campaign. They're trying to win over Hillary's voters, right? And who won the allegiance of the older voters? Not Mr. Obama.

I, personally, have taken great umbrage to all the references to John McCain's age: he's only got two years on me and, believe me, I don't consider myself old.

If I'm offended, there's every reason to believe that numerous other mature voters are, also.

McCain on his admitted ignorance of computers:

"I am a illiterate that has to rely on my wife for all of the assistance that I can get."

Unfortunately that doesn't sound like someone who is in touch with the currents of today's world.

Amazing that Democrats should be so myopic about their own candidates.

Joe Biden has been in the Senate since John McCain was a POW in Viet Nam.

Doesn't exactly make the VP candidate a spring chicken.

Should Joe Biden ever make it to a second term, he would be older than John McCain is today if he had to assume the office of President.

Democrats...they live in their own, little world.

Too bad it's not ours...

"What does everyone think of news today that Russia claim the Bush started the Georgian war to give Mccain a leg in the race for the white house ?"

Stupid, informed and clearly from the Obamas 57 states intellect. Those two countries, Georgia and Russia, have been at each other since 1989 approz.

Seems with the progressive left that womanhood and age are OK to mock and disparage, but being black is not.

McCain's age is not a disability
that will prevent him from starting
WWIII.

I congratulate Barack Obama Campaign. It is about time after all the John McCain "Rove Playbook Attacks" that mainly were lies or implied some highly questionable suggestive message. Confirmed so by Fact Check.

Now I wait to see if Obama finally starts attacking!! I know he usually prefers not to, but has found himself being in more a defensive role. He would not attack first. Hope he now goes on the attack. Karl Rove is being paid a high consultant fee by Republican Party to get rid of/damage Barack Obama.

Go Obama!!

The Obama campaign has become truly desperate. But I hope they keep up the ageism as it will ultimately work against them.

"Ryan C, It is not free speech when you try to prevent another person from expressing their views. Using "economic terrorism" to stop a radio station from trying to report to the public about Obama's long term relationship to Ayers You shout down the hateful."

Boycotts and stating complaints are economic terrorism? You're joking right?

"What you are really saying is that any speech that you view as "hateful" should be suppressed."

I think any group of people has the right to make their voice heard but no one has the right to the views being expressed unanswered.

"If this is what we can expect from Obama should he become President, than everyone, even liberals, should be pretty fearful about what a President Obama would mean to free speech."

LOL. Obama supporters exercising their free speech rights in response to smears is a fearful example of the future of our country!

"As to taking legal action against the Obama Ayers ad. It is a smoke screen to say it is because the ad was produced illegally. "

IOW, the ad and group are illegal and that's fine because they are Republicans.

McCain Retracts "No New Taxes" Pledge After Two Weeks
McCain Received $110,000 from Bank Whose Failure Cost US Treasury 2Billion Dollars - McCain was caught "intervening with regulators on behalf of Mr. Keating at a time when his Lincoln Savings and Loan Association was on the verge of collapse."

A review of New York Times archives from 1990 and 1991 shows that Senator John McCain was a subject of a major financial and bank scandal, known as the "Savings and Loan Scandal", that dominated news coverage of the US Congress during that period.

"If you Obama supporters would stop trying to use McCain's age against him, maybe us McCain supporters would stop telling the truth Obama's numerous mental gaffes"

Please do. I will take a McCain vs Obama gaffe off any day of the week.

Stating we need to protect Czechoslovakia, a country that has not existed for 15 years? McCain didn't do that once but numerous times.

Confusing the Sunni and Shia.

Iranians training Al Queda vs Shia

Iraq & Afganistan

Somalia for Sudan

Hell McCain has even screwed up the Green Bay Packers & Pittsburgh Steelers.

So please please bring on the gaffe off!

The CHANGEling can't very well engage McCain on "the issues", because his and Biden's positions are nearly the same. So it's the same cheap ridicule the Obamabots used on Clinton (who also was nearly identical on the "issues").

Obama's "old as dirt" was particularly at odds with the phony claim that mob-friendly opportunist Obama, who FIRST came to office through dirty tricks, was some kind of "new" politics.

A telling difference between The CHANGEling and McCain, though, is that the Republican can pull himself together for debates, and the "post-partisan" who's hijacked the Democratic nomination CAN'T -- unless he tries the next debates with one of those Bush back-packs that run his mouth for him, he'll be the same clueless stuttering disaster as usual.

This guy is a rolling disaster. Cutting him any slack because he's finagled a way to do his pageantry on the anniversary of MLK's speech would be a real mistake: Idi Amin, and any number of other loathsome political figures including Obama's cousin Odinga, was "black", too. It is pure racism to assume that a "black"-looking candidate deserves to have the media and the Democratic Party "leadership" run interference for his baloney.
