Hillary in Elevator Mishap*
August 28, 2008 12:44 AM
DENVER, Colo. -- Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., was already not having the Democratic National Convention that she'd been hoping for, her and her husband's well-received speeches notwithstanding.
Then it got worse.
After Wednesday night's festivities ended, there was a minor elevator mishap at the Pepsi Center that involved Clinton, sources tell ABC News.
Apparently, the elevator got stuck between floors, stranding Clinton and others for several minutes. For about five minutes inside the elevator, it was "hectic" and not a little claustrophobic -- the elevator was overpacked, which is why it stopped, a source says. The doors needed to be pushed open, and some of those in the elevator -- a couple of Secret Service agents -- needed to be lifted and squeezed out in order for it to start moving again.
Clinton was seen leaving the scene looking a tad shellshocked, but an aide said, "She's fine."

* This post has been updated. Originally, per a witness report, it reported that Clinton, herself, had to be squeezed out of the elevator between floors, but a Clinton spokesperson says that isn't true.

When you are outside the US, you can never believe how much many Americans are still three centuries behind and do not understand that the world is evolving and things are changing. Open your eyes, people, time has changed. You want to be too conservative and you believe that you are always the best. You do not see the important things, and you are stuck on the details while leaving aside what really is good for your life. It is shameful when people say, "I am not going to vote for Obama because I do not like the man" Hoo, hoo, give me a break! Is it a love of a man that we are talking about here or how the country can go better and catch up with countries like China, Japan, etc, which are running away from the US now? What can your love for Obama do to the poor woman who does not have a health insurance? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. If you want to remain at the same place and not budge because of small things, or if you do not want to open your eyes and recognize that we are in the 21st century and not at the time of slavery, it is your own problem because I am not going to wait for you to you wake up from your lethargy or your semi sleep. May those who see the world as it is today VOTE OBAMA.

Those "women for mccain" who wanted to see Hillary at the top would rather give away women's rights, keep women's pay lower and have a cheater and a homewrecker in the white house than to get over themselves.
I say go, cut off your nose to spite your face. Just don't ever come crying about McCains lack of interest in what is important for women: he evidently has no respect for them.

Even though BHO never had a chance to vote whether to send troups to Iraq initially - he says that he voted against sending troups..yada yada yada. Either BHO is smarter than our entire Senate, or he is just full of himself. For all our sake, I hope BHO is just full of himself!

Since the beginning of his campaign, Obama sounds like a tearsheet from a Marxist playbook, from class warfare to nationalizing the oil companies, and punishing Americans who shows any sign of wealth and really tax them hard to teach them a lesson . . . yeah, this is his version of the "Amercian" way. So tonight will I be suprised if he walks out from his temple pillars wearing a brown shirt with a bright armband and marching with a kick-step in "jack-boots". . . ? No, I would expect it! The question I have, if Obama becomes President will the White House be too white for him and Michelle, or will that "change" also? The bottom line is one of the real changes you will see after Obama taxes you for being successful, will be the change left in you pocket and he'll probably go after that too! WAKE UP AMERICA! The news media hasn't!

If Hillary was "shell-shocked" because she was stuck in an elevator for a few minutes... how could she ever be ready to have been President? Maybe that is what we should do.... stick Obama and McCain in elevators and whoever cries first is the loser... my money is on Obama. He is a bit of a wuss.

If we do "wake up" one day to being owned it will be by China, who has bought a disgusting amount of our debt in bonds to finance the Iraq war to the tune of 10 billion a month for 5 years now.
Just when a Democratic President had balanced our budget into a surplus and started reducing our national debt again, Bush and the neocons used China as America's credit card for the last 7 years. You can't wage wars and give tax rebates without finding a way to pay for it. I guess cutting government spending and raising taxes didn't poll well, so instead they mortgaged out country's future to a dangerous, massive, communist country.
So much for the party of fiscal responsibility.

Gas prices fell because it was beginning to look like the artificial jail the oil guys have been in for forty years was being unlocked. It meant the process of giving all out money to outsiders was close or in the process of coming to an end.
When the hippies, liberals, and enviormentals wake up with the rest of the world owning the USA, they can blame themselves...and the new owners will harvest the USA energy that THEY NOW OWN

Whoa, whoa, whoa..
Is anyone in their right mind trying to link "falling gas prices" to Bush, or anyone for that matter?
Bush "removed the drilling ban" on offshore oil, yes, but it doesn't actually allow for it to happen yet. There is also a ban on offshore drilling set by Congress years ago a well. They both have to be removed for it to happen, and I doubt that will happen anytime soon. Even so, it would take YEARS (we're talking 5+) to actually drill that oil, refine it into gasoline, and have it hit the domestic marketplace to help prices AT ALL.
Gas prices have MOMENTARILY receded because the dollar has strengthened, and futures in things like oil commodities and precious metals like gold have gone down in the last 2 months. It is temporary and do not think we have escaped high gas prices- they will be back and with a vengeance.
Only investing a ton of money and resources into new, alternative energy will ever save us. "Drill Here, Drill now" is just a slogan- America has almost no oil reserves in the ground left untapped compared to the way global demand will keep rising with countries like China and India growing and buying cars. That's why Obama is right about alternaitve energy and McCain is wrong about drilling.
Not to mention McCain has voted over 25 times against renewable energy legislation and is heavily financed by big oil.

The Clintons, especially Hillary are the ones that have me leaning toward Obama. I really don't like the man, but this country can not afford four more years of what Bush has given us the last 8.
Think about what Hillary said :
Were you in this for me or for the woman with cancer who had no health insurance or the marine or the lady working of minimum wage.
As was stated many times at the convention we are all in this TOGETHER.It' not just about you, it's about everyone in this country.
If you like the way things are going, vote for McCain, I personally don't.

McCain too old, too rich & too niave.
Obama is young, ambitious & actually cares about the American people.
He's not full of promises..but actually going to get things done.
That's the difference.

David: I think we should be able to discuss our views and still be Civil with each other, Last I checked in the end Democrat or Republican we are still on the same team.

batesba74: Well -- gotta agree with you on that one. I am obviously an Obama supporter but there no place for McCain/Vietnam jokes. Always in bad taste.

Oops. NOTHING -- is what I meant. Anyway -- name one thing McCain had done that makes yours or my life better? Just one. Can't? I can't either. In 26 years of service McCain's one claim to fame is the McCain-Feingold bill -- which essentially both parties walk around right now as we speak. They do it by having big money contributors put together what are called "joint committees" that pool together oodles of cash to get around the $2,300 limit. That is McCain's legacy. He hangs his hat on an invisible coat-track called McCain-Feingold. And if that's the best thing he's done in 26 years -- than he's hardly a good candidate for president.

I think Obama will make a great commander in Chief, he has his expereince from all his staff put together in a nut shell.
Posted by: GG | Aug 28, 2008 2:25:45 PM
Joan -- if Obama has done nothing for this country in his term in senate ... that means he and McCain have one thing in common. Because McCain has done one thing to make Americans lives better in TWENTY-SIX YEARS of service.

Thanks for the adjective David. You missed my point entirely. I am referring to the histeria of the media and masses in embracing a speaker that public speaking is his only asset. You can make fun of McCain all you want but just what has Obama done for this country??? NOTHING, NADA, ZILCH.

Wasn't BHO against the surge? Wasn't the surge successful in reducing violence? What did BHO predict would happen if the surge took place?
JM actually LISTENS to Petraus and local commanders and takes their advice. BHO knows more about military strategy than any commander and will tell them what to do.
BHO has been in charge of congressional oversight of Nato which runs Afghanistan for the last 2 years. He didn't do anything, not even a hearing or a meeting and now claims it's all screwed up.
When it comes to Georgia BHO stated we should go to the UN Security Council to get the Russians to leave. He didn't know Russia sits on that council. He didn't know that Russia has the ability to veto any resolution. That's basic UN 101.
It took 72 hours for BHO to come around to JM's postion and copy it. That's not leadership.
