Hillary's Brother Meets With McCain Campaign
August 20, 2008 11:56 AM
What the heck is this about?
The Scranton, Pennsylvania, Times-Tribune reports that on Monday, the top economic adviser for Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., Carly Fiorina, met with Tony Rodham -- the younger brother of Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY -- and some others, including Rodham's wife, at the Dunmore, Penn., home of a political consultant close to the Clinton family, Jamie Brazil.
Brazil is now national director of Citizens for McCain.
This news comes just a few days after former President Bill Clinton praised Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., for his position on global warming.
Boy, I can’t imagine why anyone would think the Clinton family is trying to defeat Obama so Hillary can run in 2012!
Clinton's office did not respond to a request for comment.

While misguided often, but clearly intelligent, I see McCain offering Hillary a spot on the cabinet ...
Might be the best she'll ever do at this point....

If McCain wants to run Rezcko commercials, then maybe it's time for a look back at the Keating Five. Hey!!! News Media!!! Sorry to disturb you, but how about letting voters get acquainted with John McCain, the guy who uses the POW narrative as a crutch!
Since we are currently faced with a mortgage crisis, financial institutions failing, credit crisis, lending crisis, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, etc. Let's take a walk down memory lane to another Bush and another financial scandal.
It's relevant. McCain has a record. McCain flip flops a lot, but we don't hear about that. We just get the POW narrative and what a funny sense of humor he has. We hear about the "Maverick"...who supported President Bush 90% of the time.
Why is the news media supporting McCain? It's pretty obvious! My goodness. The news media aired that Paris Hilton and over and over and over again so they could "discuss it." John McCain couldn't have afforded the paid advertising you guys gave him for free.
As for an elitist? John McCain got his own version of Affirmative Action. A wild spoiled kid who's father and grandfather got him into Annapolis...where he graduated 294 out of a class of 300! He crashed 3 airplanes as a pilot, before he became a POW. When he left the Navy, he said he didn't know how to do anything else, so he went into politics. He married a multi-millionaire heiress. Second wife.
His colleagues in the Senate think he is a dangerous, unstable guy with a bad temper. People in his own party think he is unsuited to the office he aspires to. Why hasn't that been covered...over and over and over again?

Christ, use your heads. If the Clinton's worked for Obama's defeat and McCain won Hillary's political career would be over.
Among other things, remember, President McCain will get probably 2 Supreme Court Appointees.

I never trust clintons. It is just impossible. They never staight, never cerain, but always selfish and self-oriented.
To hell.
What is important now to make people understand all danger of McWar.

It is upseting to see the unfair vicious attacks Obama has suffered in this race due to his race. It may seem funny to some but we all know this type of behavior will always be seared in America's collective conciousness. All have witness a great person ridiculed because he looks different. People will never admit it publically but God is not asleep. Here we have a constitutional lawyer who respect and loves his counrty. He has been called unpatriotic because he doesn't resemble the chisled faces on Mt Rushmore. Here we have a Christian who has been called a Muslim. Here we have a man who truly loves his family and adores his intellegent wife. McCain didn't even keep his vow to God when cheating on his wife who sustained terrible injuries at the same time he was recovering from injuries in Vietnam-- talk about a lack of compassion. There is no comparison between these men's moral fiber.America will elect the president it deserves and will have to deal with it for longer forever.

do they want her to lose her senate seat?
Hillary's brother doesn't have the best record of keeping his nose clean...
and everyone knows that if Obama loses Hillary chances are will most likely lose her senate seat in New York.-----------------------------------------------
Good luck with that. Some newbie democrat will NOT win NY....

Fact Check -
The Christian Science Monitor debunks the oft repeated McCain story that Mother Theresa personally begged Cindy to take the child. It simply didn't happen. Mother Theresa was in Mexico at the time.
It also debunks her claim that she was "in the very room" where her husband was treated after his captivity in Vietnam. She was not. The Vietnamese would not let her enter it.
Most recently, after continually claiming that she's an only child, one half sister emerged yesterday and another one appeared today.
Ya gotta wonder whether this woman is a serial liar or whether her drug addiction was more serious than anyone's thought.

-and everyone knows that if Obama loses Hillary chances are will most likely lose her senate seat in New York.-
How so, by pumping gozzillian $ in ads against her, by dredging Ken Starr CRAP, dusting it off and recycling it (oh, they did that in the primaries), by fraud at the polls, by thuggish intimidation...good luck with trying to tell New Yorkers what to do. NY ain't Chicago.

"With all the backstabbing the Democrats did to Hillary and Bill Clinton it would be right for them to back McCain now."
No, it wouldn't. They are first & foremost Democrats! They have nothing in common with the Republican Party, and other than being angry that Obama got the Nomination (McCain wanted to run against Hillary), I don't even think they have that much in common with McCain either. Besides, it would tarnish their respective reputations for posterity and their egos are too big to allow that to ever happen.
I can't imagine them wanting to be as reviled as Joe LIEberman has made himself by turning his back on the Democratic caucus. No, Bill & Hill won't endorse McCain. It would be political suicide.

"Last June, a record 91 percent of Harvard students graduated summa, magna, or cum laude, far more than at Yale (51 percent), Princeton (44 percent),"
I guess with those odds, it would be surprising if he didn't graduate Magna Cum Laude.

Partisan arguing aside, I truly worry what the Clintons are going to get up to. It can't be good, and they've been way too quiet lately... The calm before the storm? I mean, who *cares* about what's best for the country, whatever that may prove to be? It's all about perpetuating a legacy.

Judgement? Are you saying that McCain has good judgement? REALLY?
yea, he showed GREAT judgement in invading a sovereign nation. He showed GREAT judgement in leaving the Afghan war to NATO! He showed GREAT judgement in voting NOT to go after Bin Laden when they had him cornered. Great judgement with his involvement with the Banking Scandal of the Keating 5. Great judgement in having Phil Gramm as his economic advisor. GREAT judgement with Charlie Black.

How does a pilot in an aircraft on the other side of the deck cause a missile to ignite and strike another aircraft?
The Forestal fire was investigated completely, there are films of the incident. The zuni comes from the other side of the deck.

Noah...no...you're not getting the point. The US went in there because Iraq agreed to certain things. The agreed to have free elections, they agreed to re-establish the infrastructure and they agreed to set up a legislature/governement to rule. They have no infrastructure and they cannot have even one week of mettings before they start arguing again. How long to we wait for them to get their act together. We have made most cities safe and now their own forces need to take over and rule themselves. A withdrawal is the right thing, being sure that are troops are protected.

dl, Obama's losing will have no effect on Hillary's next Senate election, she will win and win BIG. I would think that John Kerry might be running a little scared at this time since he is coming up for re-election in the near future and he didn't follow the majority of his states democratic voters. Wouldn't it be nice to get both Kennedy and Kerry out of office at the same time. They are both turncoats.

"I find it sublime that Sen. McCain's top economic advisor is the architect who, singlehandedly, almost destroyed Hewlett-Packard with a disastrous merger with Compaq several years ago."
Simply untrue. She engineered the Compaq merger which is the source of HP's earnings bonanza given the sales overseas. Hurd got to ride on the backwash after the board beat up on Fiorina. The HP Board knew that the Hewlett and Packard heirs (and their foundations), with an important 18% of the stock were against it.
It took time to merge the cultures but in the end, Fiorina was right. HP needed scale. Otherwise, the global markets couldn't return the numbers they are returning particularly in personal systems.
Let's see how the EDS acquisition works out. Tough choices, indeed.
Posted by: len | Aug 20, 2008 1:31:35 PM
The reason why Obama is not running away with the numbers in the polls is because of the venom coming out of the Obama supporters and the McCain supporters. I can understand that the Repubs will spew hate and nastiness about the Clintons but I can't understand the madness Obama people are saying about the Clintons. A LOT of Hillary supporters won't vote for Obama in November because of the culture of negativism against Hillary and Bill. If Obama loses the election in November it's because he didn't try to bring the Hillary supporters more into the fold. He has allowed this culture of negativism to fester. Personally, I think a lot of you so called Obama supporters are Republicans.
Posted by: Lois, California | Aug 20, 2008 1:31:10 PM
If all you Hillary supporters are so bent on getting her in there, just go to the conventions and talk people into casting her when they dothe role call. If she has the support, she will get the nom...TAKE ACTION OR SHUT UP
Posted by: newthinker | Aug 20, 2008 1:30:21 PM
Llama....that's right the Republicans are to solely blame for all that's wrong with our country. Why do Democrats always have to be so negative and downgrade our country. Go elsewhere....yeah, we have our problems and no one likes war, especially those who have lived it (McCain), but he is the only one most Americans trust in getting us out the right way. The war isn't even the #1 issue anymore. Economy is.

Posted by: bombem | Aug 20, 2008 1:23:48 PM
rag head I wouldn't be too sure about the Clintons voting for McCain since they made the max. donation to the Obama campaign and made zero contribution to the McCain campaign.
So what if Hillary's brother met with a long time friend of both he and his wife, there were other people at the gathering as well. I guess now the Obama people want to govern members of political families and decide who they can have as friends. How bizarre.
The Democrat Party is doomed. I guess most of you bloggers saw the latest poll results today. Obama is on a rapid downhill spiral, I think that you Obama supporters should be a little more concerned with how McCain is cleaning Obama's clock rather than who Hillary Clinton's brothers friends are. I'm sure her brothers are Republicans because she came from a Republican family and was a Goldwater girl before she met Bill and became a Democrat.
The Obama supporters harbour such hatred for the Clintons. That's probably why your candidate is losing.
Posted by: Kitty litter | Aug 20, 2008 1:23:35 PM
new electoral map poll is Obama 264 to McCain 274...they just posted it on FOX...Kerry had 301 to 214 Bush at this very time last election....Obama should be very worried! The Russia/Georgia conflict is a win in McCain's column and drilling...plus Americans just trust the Maverick more. Bill Maher (on Live with Larry King) said it would be funny if McCain got into office and went back to the Maverick the Dems liked more. He really does work both sides of the isle and would love Leiberman as his VP, but Reps won't have it.

Debra...remember this is the system that all the candidates signed on for. They all thought it was great! But when things began to fail for Hillary she blamed it on the very system she supported. She underestimates Obama's strength in the caucuses. That is where he won. I am a Rep who voted for the Clintons and I am sad to say I was VERY disappointed in the way they both conducted themselves in the primary. If you don't like the process change it. To be honest, I thought Obama would NEVER pull it off because he was an unknown, but people are just fed up with Washington and want something different. And you have to admit, Obama has gotten a lot people people registered to vote who never did before, and excited our young people, who need to get involved.

cindyct....I am a Republican who early on championed Hillary. Contributed, and voted for her. I have never contributed to any campaign before. It's easy to support McCain. I wanted a win/win and was always voting AGAINST OBAMA. As much as they (McCain and BO)are tied in the polls you BO supporter can still feel releif that the electoral college map has him ahead, because as we all know...you don't' win with just the popular vote...it's a state win, and certain states are awarded more electoral votes than others. I think this sucks, just like the nominating process Hillary had to suffer through. Why can't every election/primary just count popular votes? McCain could have the popular win in this election but BO could still get the prize with this whacky system.

Sorry, Obama now only leads by 1.2% on an average of the popular polls by realclearpolitics.

Here's what a senior White House official in the Clinton administration said about the brothers Rodham (Hugh and Tony):
"You never wanted to hear their name come up in any context other than playing golf."
In other words, if politics is sometimes a circus, there will be clowns.

TOMAHAWK...Bill is a racist...he used the blacks just to get elected...now he is loosing his mind. Hillary is so bent on winning she would sell her soul to the devil, and she has already. I don't see her running in 2012, because the party will not back her. She ruined herself with "slutty" conduct and relentless whinning.

Jeremy, don't forget Chelsea.

Does anybody really want a spectacle President....everything staged, and distractions everywhere? I don't want a Denzil Washington puppet for Prez, acting and posturing in front of us all the time. Obama is a Rootless Cosmopolitan and would be better seved in some position that keeps him travelling around the globe.
I hope Hlllary doesn't choke on her speech Tuesday night. It's hard to speak passionately when trying to sell something even you aren't buying.
HILLARY SUPPORTER FOR McCAIN!

Maybe we will see a McCain/Hillary ticket.
I'd love to see the faces of the right wing conservatives.
McCain's been called the Casanova of politicians. McCain makes Bill Clinton look like an altar boy when it comes to sexual affairs. I can see them partying it up in the White House.

marylou...Obama is still ahead in 5 out of 6 poles. And two of these show him 5 point or more ahead. Check your facts

Marylou,
It's not Obama. It's not even McCain. It's us.
All the blogs I read, and I'm just sad we have not learned anything through the last 8 years.
If Obama wins, we get hope there might be some changes. If McCain wins, we get what we voted for; the same.

Well Hillarys true colors are showing now!!! She is so bent on being president she would risk the safety of our country by consorting with the enemy to make the point that she should have been " the chosen one." Rather sad, don't you think?

I think mccain better rethink announcing the VP pick on the 29th. This is his birthday, does he really want to bring attention to the fact that he should be retired. Of course he probably forgot that this is his birthday. Obama 2008!!!
