Jimmy Carter Says McCain 'Milking' POW History
August 29, 2008 7:24 AM
Former President Jimmy Carter tells USA Today that Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., has been "milking every possible drop of advantage" from his 5 1/2 years as a prisoner of war in Vietnam. "John McCain was able to weave in his experience in a Vietnam prison camp, no matter what the question was," Carter told the paper. "It's much better than talking about how he's changed his total character between being a senator, a kind of a maverick ... and his acquiescence in the last few months with every kind of lobbyist pressure that the right wing Republicans have presented."

"CARTER HAS DONE MORE FOR THE POOR AND WORKING PEOPLE THAN MCCAIN WILL EVER DO"
In a sense, yes. Carter has made more people poor than anyone in years.
18% inflation rate
21% interest rates
12% unemployment
Quite a record.

Contrary to what some have posted, the choice is between an unscrupulous, inexperienced interloper and accomplished speech maker and an experienced veteran and politician with at least a little integrity.
The choice is clear...
Anybody But Obama...

As during his Presidency, Jimmy Carter is still making bad judgments and worse statements.
How does Jimmy Carter garner the right to judge the experiences of any POW?
From his own, personal experiences?
If you all remember, Jimmy Carter's blunders resulted in private U.S. citizens being made into POW's by Iran.
Then, he blundered in his decisions to try to correct his mistakes.
Making such a ludicrous statement is simply another in a long line of Carter blunders.
Carter is probabaly a good man, just not very smart or discerning in his actions.

So this is what America has come to? The man spent 5 1/2 yrs as a POW facing isolation/torture/et al, definitely a life changing period, and a significant part of why he is the person he is and why he makes the decisions he makes. But to reference it is "milking it". ... I thought no one could get lower than the Swiftboaters, but now I see there's still room at the bootom.
Current military members take note - when people say "support our troops" they mean "until we get tired of hearing about you".

Most 90% of the Democrats voted with Bush 90% of the time.
Give it a break.
I voted for Carter (it was the first time I ever voted). It was BIG mistake.
Obama's promises to let government take care of everything -- sounds just like Carter. First time voters -- don't make a mistake.

Oops, I made a mistake! The UNEMPLOYMENT rate was higher.
Posted by: Dave in lv | Aug 29, 2008 9:17:47 AM
Rodney, What is the unemployment rate, 5-6%? Doesn't that mean 94% of the people are employed? Don't you know 10 million would mean an unemployment rate of over 10%?
Some jobs are lost and some are gained. Though we have had bumps up and down, the net is one of the best employment rates this country has ever seen.
Assuming you ARE a Viet vet, do you remember what the employment rate was then? In case you forgot, it was higher.

We have the technology to reuse spent nuclear fuel rods but we don't due to policies set in place by Carter.
JM is recommending we reuse the spent rods. BHO until last night was against all use of nuclear power plants.

YOU HAVE A CHOICE THIS ELECTON
A BRILLIANT YOUNG MAN----OR A SENILE OLD GESER WITH THAT BOTTOM OF THE CLASS MENTALITY..
THE CHOICE IS YOURS
GOODBY AGAIN

Rodney More people are employed today than at any time in US history. Your ten million jobs lost is just Dem rhetoric. If we actually had lost 10 million jobs wouldn't the unemployment rate be higher than 10%.
Yes housing is a mess, but we still have more people who own homes today than when Clinton left office.
Typical Dem logic is when oil companies make $0.20 per gallon they will drop the price of gas by $0.70 per gallon just because the MESSIAH BHO has arrived!

WHY ARE YOU NOT TALKING ABOUT THE NUCLEAR TEC WE NOW HAVE AND THE FACT THAT AFTER 8 YEARS IT IS STILL BEING HIDDEN---COULS IT HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH EXXON JOHNS PEOPLE.
DID YOU KNOW WE HAD A REACTOR YEARS AGO THAT REUSED SPENT RODS----AND DO YOU KNOW THAT WE HAVE ENOUGH TO POWER OUR COUNTRY FOR A THOUSAND YEARS..

Has anyone taken Jimmy for a physical?
I mean seriously?
First he makes ridiculous statements about Israel and now this. I think an MRI of his skull is in order.

Are you old enough to remember or did you ever read about the Carter administration?
He brought about 20% interest rates and unemployment over 10%!
Carter's only solution for people was to put on a sweater and sit in front of the fireplace when heating costs rose higher than people could afford.
He set in motion our nuclear power plants would NOT recycle our fuel rods as most countries do but to bury them instead and create new ones.
He sat on his hands when US diplomats and our embassy was taken hostage.
Carter was a well meaning person who talked of hope and change but failed completely to live up to his promises.

WHEN YOU LOSE TEN MILLION JOBS ---AND GET A FEW BACK I GUESS THAT IS GREAT----AS FOR HOUSING I THINK YOU NEED AN EDUCATION----THE HOUSING INDUSTRY AND THE MORTGAGE INDUSTRY-----HAVE CRASHED--WOW WHERE ARE YOU COMING FROM.I PREDICTED THAT THE GAS PRICES WILL DROP TO APPROX 2.99 A GALLON BY ELECTON TIME---AFTER BEING RAPED BY THE EXXON JOHN GANG.

Rodney
Did you read the economy rose last quarter by over 3% and we haven't had a single down quarter in years?
Did you know that the number of unemployed people dropped by over one MILLION people over the last year?
Didn't you read the incomes of the average person ROSE over the past year?
Don't you know there are a LOT more homeowners now than when Clinton left office?
Do you have any facts at all or do you just like to be a name calling ninny?

CARTER HAS DONE MORE FOR THE POOR AND WORKING PEOPLE THAN MCCAIN WILL EVER DO ---AND THAT IS A FACT----ONE OF THE MOST PEOPLE ORIENTED PRESIDENTS EVER---AT HIS OLD AGE HE STILL WORKS FOR THE POOR

Jimmy Carter?
The only good thing he did as President was lose the 1980 election. This guy is so feeble he actually thinks most Americans will forget that he was the worst President in Amercian History.

John McCain is reciting personal history. Compared to Obama's
milking of his through his self-congratulatory pop-books, McCain's is real, gritty, and abides with him always in part due to the physical pain he feels from it every day of his life. His experience was life-changing, something more than simply having been a druggie. Jimmy Carter has more than milked his own piety for all it's worth. His rewards are here on earth.
