John Kerry on McCain: "Dangerous for the Direction of this Country"
August 04, 2008 8:41 PM
At a small fundraiser for Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, this evening in Boston, Mass., Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., had some harsh words for Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.
"The bottom line is, this administration has moved towards Barack Obama's positions, John McCain is still stuck on the low road express," Kerry said, referring to recent US foreign policy shifts regarding Afghanistan, Iran, and North Korea. "He doesn't get it," Kerry said of McCain. "He's even dangerous, I think, for the direction of this country. That's why we need to stay focused on electing Barackâ¦"
Kerry made some jokes as well.
"I asked Barack what he wanted for his birthday and he said, just three things: 'Indiana, Colorado, and Virginia.'"
Big laughs.
Kerry also said, "John McCain is looking for someone for vice president who has more economic expertise than he does. So congratulations to all of you, you're on the short list."
Obama was given a gift of a Red Sox Hawaiian shirt after being serenaded by the crowd, led by Harry Connick, Jr.

The level of viciousness from the Republicans here, and from those claiming to be Hillary supporters, is astonishing, McCain and Obama have substantively different positions on major issues from Iraq (though McCain is moving toward Obama's timetable) to energy to the economy to Supreme Court appointees. Look at the positions--not the funny ads, not the doubletalk talking points. And then choose smart, compassionate, gracious, idealistic but undogmatic Obama over peevish, out-of-touch, more right-wing than he pretends McCain.
If you agree with McCain on genuine policy questions--and what he has done rather than campaign photo ops--go ahead and vote for him. But examine his long record and the substance of his positions and Obama looks better and better.

Oh yea, believe a has been, someone who couldn't get elected to President when people were disgusted with Bush, even with all of Theresa's money. He is a huge flip flopper and he is dangerous for the country and so is Kennedy and the rest of them who crucified stalwarts of the party like Bill and Hillary Clinton. I am doing everything I can in my power to see that Obama is defeated in November and that everyone who stabbed Hillary in the back has a short-lived political career. Kerry is a big flip flopper and so is Obama, no wonder they are such good friends! What a joke! Kerry, Kennedy and Dodd supporting Obama, Winkin blinkin and nod! lolol

This is the same John Kerry that wanted John McCain to be his running mate??
With a friend like that who needs enemies???
Question - If Hillary campaigned that Obama was not ready (experienced) enough to be President .... what happened in 2 months that has changed?
NOTHING -- he still is not ready and won't ever be ready.

Hey Kerry - I think Obama is following Pres. Bush's lead here!! not the reverse.
Only difference is Obama wants to weaken our nation, McCain wants to strengthen it!!
Hey Kerry go back to France!!
The only one talking about timelines are the coward Libs like Obama!
Pres. Bush is following his original plan as the Iraqis stand up we will stand down, and that is what is happening, so please Obama has nothing to do with it.
Obama and the other libs are the reason this part of the battle in Iraq took so long!!
Flip FlopFlip Flop Flail!!!! Obama!! who thinks we are all bitter with his racist comments!!

But it's the Republicans who're going to "try and scare you"?

Problem is, Americans are so disgusted with the Democrats that any criticism from them lacks punch. Who is in Congress this week attempting to address America's energy problems with gas at $4 a gallon? Is it the Democrats who claim to be so concerned with the struggles of the average American? Nope, they're off on their 5-week vacation. It's Republicans who are standing their ground and calling for Pelosi and the Dems to have the guts to come back, debate, and vote. Wonder what Congress' latest approval rating is? Hint: for sure it's lower than Bush's.

John Kerry is such a tool. Who cares what he thinks. Dump Kerry, Pelosi and Reid ... and while you're at it ... dump Obama and the Huffington Post. They're all useless, and dangerous to America.

I'm so glad that John Kerry is willing to degrade and attempt to destroy his long-time friend and ally. After John McCain helped Kerry by using his expertise to pass legislation with Kerry's name on it and giving Kerry more credit than deserved on POW/MIA committee legislation. John Kerry begged McCain to be his VP in 2004. Now, I guess his loyalty and due is far less important than political expediency. Which is why he no longer speaks to Edwards (how dare Edwards run for President again!!). Which is why he's stooping for Obama hoping for a VP slot (which he'll never get). Which is why he's trying to get his name out there, since he's due for re-election in MA. Now that Richardson isn't being vetted for VP, he's crawling back to Hillary like a sad puppy...I'm sure Kerry will do the same to McCain when Obama loses.

Dear Windsurfer Kerry...
Please in the future do not impugn the dignity of the Boston Red Sox by passing out what sounds like a horrible T-shirt to your newest friend, Mr. Teflon. By the way, do you know how to get on the T to go to Fenway once in a blue moon. (Lordy, Lordy, I wish it was November and this nonsense was gone.)

"Kerry AND Harry Connick Jr. -- is Connick an Obamacan, or just hired help?"
Oh, no, "Belle Starr"--Connick is NOT hired help. Both he and his wife have donated the max to Obama: you can look it up. I'll take Harry's political judgment over yours any day. (And he's not a Republican, as you imply--both of his parents were DEMOCRATIC elected officials.)

As a democrat who voted for Kerry, I am disgusted. Politics aside, he made a very personal attack on someone who was supposed to be his friend. But I guess he is exactly where he belongs - with the campaign of say anything to get a vote, flip-flop on any position for a push at the polls

John McCain played politics with injured troops, what a shame for an American hero???

John Kerry is dangerous to this country and to everyone that knows what a traitor he really was and is. How dare he disparrage ANYONE else as being a danger.

It was bad enough for America to vote for Bush, disaster to do it twice. The world now sees American as the least smart nation around for that when it comes to politics and economy. Can you make it any worse by voting for John McCain who lies (e.g. he tried to tie the 2001 anthrax attack to Iraq to supplement the justification for war), cannot tell different states of the economy, has no plans to sort out American economy, wants to go to war with the rest of the world and very confused about what is reality.
For your sakes America, do not vote for McCain. Show the world how smart you guys are.

The reason for McCain's negative conduct is simple. This is his very last chance at being President and he very much realizes that. So, he is pulling out all of the stops and going for broke. He is truly desperate in this effort.

McCain has destroyed all of his political integrity, even his iconic story of captivity has been altered,
Everything he stood for is gone. how disappointing can this guy get, he has sold his soul to the Bushies. He has become a bad parody of himself, just one long tired diatribe of anger and ridicule. They are laughing at the expense of middle class. I for one don't find his type of humor worthwhile.

McCain has run a terrible campaign and Obama has run a brilliant one.
However McCain is now ahead of Obama.
Doesn't say too much for Obama as a candidate, now does it?
Just imagine if McCain gets some mojo in his campaign.
President McCain - get good and use to it!

LOL.
John Kerry also said that there was a secret Bush draft plan that would go into effect the April after the election, so you'd better vote for Kerry.
Uh, Mr. Kerry. What happened? Where is the secret plan?
LOLOLOL.
Democrats are the most ridiculous people on earth.
