Louisiana Democrat De-Lists Self as Co-Host of Obama Fundraiser
August 11, 2008 3:56 PM
The Baton Rouge Advocate reports that Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La., the only Senate Democrat in a competitive race this year, was listed as a co-host for a $100-per-person DC fundraiser for Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, until suddenly, she wasn't.
The event, “Girls Night Out: Lipstick, Laughter and Libations," (you can see the cached version which includes Landrieu's name HERE) is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, August 18.
Landrieu campaign spokesman Scott Schneider told the Advocate that she was never supposed to be listed as a co-host.
“I believe it was a clerical mistake where some finance assistant confused who was going to the event with who was hosting the event,” Schneider said.
Louisiana is where former Klansman David Duke won a majority of the white vote in his 1990 race for the Senate and his 1991 gubernatorial campaign.

This is what we call a "non-sequitor". It has nothing to do with the story. It's just a cheap way for an Obama shill to inject race into the campaign, to make excuses for Obama's poor showing in certain areas. They did it to Hillary as well, as we all recall.
Shhh...no one mention that a "majority" of black Democrats (90%, mind you) voted for Obama.

Landrieu's name is the only name I recognize! Wonder if she jumped or was pushed under the bus! She is an advocate of Off-shore drilling, after all. Anyway, she did the right thing, sweetie!

Somehow, I think Obama is trying to distance himself from her.

Response to nonsense about Obama not having Washington experience that leads to wasteful war and a tanked economy.
Why one is as highly intelligent and as highly educated as Harvard Law Obama is, then he is a QUICK STUDY!
Obama does not need to be in Washington for over a generation to figure out how Washington and the nation and world work.
McCaint-Bush, who graduated at the bottom of his class, will not be able to figure out Washington and then nation, even by spending a lifetime in Washington.
McCaint is visionless.
McCaint is always seeking to fight the last war, even start the Cold War all over again.
McCaint, worse than his buddy, Bush!

Obama did say that HRC was an inspiration to his daughters, and I imagine if he had a son he would have included him being inspired by her as well. She is an inspiring person. But all tend to project our own concerns into others words at times. I don't think he is sexist and don't think the Clintons are racist.

Rather than the klan angle, I'd bet on the "supporting offshore drilling" and "not supporting oil windfall profits taxes" angles.

Speaking of "Girls Night Out," Hillary is scheduled to speak at "Lady's night" at the Democratic National Convention. I noticed that Michelle Obama won't be speaking at Lady's Night (she's scheduled for opening night because she's above all that!).
Also, notice how Obama has said repeatedly that Hillary is an inspiration to his daughters! He acknowledges Hillary only as a woman, not as a successful politician/Senator.
Obama is a sexist. Why would any woman vote for Obama?

Seriously though, this offends me at some level. Something a candidate who considers women "sweeties" might not understand. Of course I realize that with Obama it's all in how trippingly the words flow off the tongue, whether it be the catchy alliteration of the triple l's or the soaring innocuousness of "hope and change". So I'll not press the point since I know that to Obama it's all "just words".

Isn't Louisiana also the state with a non-white Governor?
Posted by: MayBee | Aug 11, 2008 4:30:24 PM
I suppose this story had to happen, with the hundreds of GOP pols running away from Bush. I guess those are all 'dog bites man' stories, after all?

Considering her panicked ineptitude during Hurricane Katrina and her shamefully corrupt pork laden boondoggle dressed up as 'relief funds', Obama's not losing much.

sure I was never suppose to be listed wink wink nudge nudge.
