Obama and Running Mate To Hold Joint Event Saturday
August 19, 2008 5:09 PM
Senator Barack Obama, D-Illinois, and his yet-to-be chosen Vice Presidential running mate will hold an event at the symbolic old State Capitol in Springfield, Illinois – the site where Obama kicked off his own presidential run eighteen months ago.
“This will be the kickoff to our trip to the convention,” Obama spokeswoman Jen Psaki says of the midday event.
The event Saturday will be the first of a tour Obama and his VP will take through swing states, leading up to the Democratic National Convention in Denver next week.
On February 10, 2007 Obama officially threw his hat into the ring on the steps of the Old State Capitol. Saturday’s appearance at the same site may be the first public event the Obama ticket makes together.
The Obama campaign plans to inform supporters of their VP pick first via email and text message.

I think it has to be McCain for me this time. The choice of Biden confirmed what I suspected about Obama, that he's an opportunistic lightweight and his "change" campaign is all sugar and empty calories. Our choice is now between John McCain and Barack McPresident. As to social issues, I agree with many liberal points, but the liberal package deal is unacceptable and apparently not negotiable, and I don't like being bullied by drug-addled hippies or Black Panthers, even though I'm gay myself. So, GOP it is. Did you follow all of that?

To all those that think that Obama is a 'fraud' I have one thing to say: thats no way to talk about YOUR next president. Oh and by-the-way, he's really sinking in the polls and in campaign funds.huh??? Get a life people and watch history be made!!!!!

why would anyone who supported hillary, vote for mccain? they are not even close on the issues.

Debra, I heard Rove say that too and about fell of my chair. Even he admits that Hillary is "ready to lead on Day One".
Someone needs to remind the SuperDs that Obama hasn't won anything yet. He was carried over the finished line by the ENDORSEMENTS of SuperDs - which means nothing until they actually cast their votes at the convention.

Obama needs a strong economic populist. Thats what this election is all about. Someone who will hit the GOP hard and relentlessly on the economy.

Can Nobama win this if 20% of Hillary supporters (almost 4 million) don't vote for him? I heard today on news, that 20% of Hill supporters still not on board...they are hoping it will change after convention (won't).
I guess it depends if they sit it out or pull the lever for McCain.
HILLARY SUPPORTER FOR McCAIN!

-If the Democratic delegates can't buck the "leadership"'s fixed "post-partisan" nomination, SOON you will hear the REAL dems debating how to bring about a fusion ticket among Nader, McKinney, and Barr.-
don't think that's the ans., if i remember polisci 101 correctly, fusion not allowed in most states.

Karl Rove just said Obama should pick Hillary as VP because we all know she could be President in a heartbeat, but Obama won't pick her.

I TOO, AM A HILLARY SUPPORTER, AND OBAMA WILL NOT BE PICKING HER AS HIS RUNNING MATE. Therefore, I will be comletely behind Senator McCain (although I so detest Obama as Pres, even Hillary couldn't seal the deal for me now....had she been #1 and he #2, maybe).
HILLARY SUPPORTER FOR McCAIN!
By the way....what's with all the suspense, texting who it is...typical Hollywood production by BO campaign. They could parachute out of a plane holding hands together and I still wouldn't tune in for it. Obama and whoever (except Biden) = a losing ticket.

Other than Hillary who else would really be all that exciting? I am sure he will pick someone capable.

I am a solid Obama guy.
Washington Delegate... (first round)
I am convinced Obama needs Clinton to make the ticket a solid win.
The others are 2nd rank. She is 1st rank in Washington politics.

Biden a two-time loser. boring, pompous and gaffe prone. Perhaps it will be Evan Bayh since Indiana has now swung to MCCain's column in Obama's electoral meltdown. Probably not since the Obama people leaked Bayh has wife ethic problems.

Yawn!

If Obama pick Joe Biden, he will stand a good chance of winning. Biden has the gravitas needed to swing the working class and the females.
His personal story, his foreign policy creds and his charming personality ... sexy and likeable, traits that translate well on TeeVee and airwaves.
Let ti be, let it be...

isn't it funny how easy it is to tear down a candidate? Does anyone here have any answers or solutions? Anyone who votes out of spite for whatever reason is a disgrace and you should grow up.

OBama is a FRAUD!

Of COURSE he's a fraud -- why else would he be in harness with John Kerry?

The event on Saturday will be the "the first of a tour Obama and his VP will take through swing states, leading up to the Democratic National Convention"????
The event is on Saturday. The convention begins on Monday. That's a pretty short tour, isn't it?

Who Cares who obama picks as VP - he is NOT qualified and will NEVER be elected.
OBama is a FRAUD!
