Obama and Running Mate To Hold Joint Event Saturday

August 19, 2008 5:09 PM

Senator Barack Obama, D-Illinois, and his yet-to-be chosen Vice Presidential running mate will hold an event at the symbolic old State Capitol in Springfield, Illinois – the site where Obama kicked off his own presidential run eighteen months ago.

“This will be the kickoff to our trip to the convention,” Obama spokeswoman Jen Psaki says of the midday event.

The event Saturday will be the first of a tour Obama and his VP will take through swing states, leading up to the Democratic National Convention in Denver next week.

On February 10, 2007 Obama officially threw his hat into the ring on the steps of the Old State Capitol. Saturday’s appearance at the same site may be the first public event the Obama ticket makes together.

The Obama campaign plans to inform supporters of their VP pick first via email and text message.

Obama & Camp can pump it, hype it, bang it, till all the kool-aid is gone, no matter WHO(M) his choice is, he has lost the general election already.

They were always like that Catleya. They seem to have become even more obnoxious this year though. Guess they're running scared.

"Where have all the mature and sensible comments gone?"

Old girls picked them everyone. When will they ever learn?

"Are there any intelligent and mature adults left in America?"

Nope. They're all right. So are their kids.

"Or is that only the worst of the worst leave comments?"

See what No Child Left Behind got you.

"All I see here is silly sarcasm and pure hatred."

No, this is still the Silly Season. The Pure Hatred Season starts after Labor Day. Remember the rule about your whites.

"Is this what people on the Right have become? Or were they always like this?"

No. They adapted right after the Lennon Sisters became great-grandmothers and accordions became trendy.

That headline just tickled me...Joint Event

That would be more fitting to a McCain ...get it... hip replacement.

A joint event? Didn't those go out with bongs and dayglo elvis?

Posted by: len | Aug 19, 2008 6:05:55 PM

Leon, mature and sensible people don't read headlines about Obama. You need to go to the McCain blog sites.

It's becoming clear that Barry Ohbama
is a one-dimensional candidate. The
dems scream "YEAH, but he's OUR one-
dimensional candidate!!!" You put
him out there...it's only fair that
you drag him across the finish line.
He's having trouble standing on his own two feet.

I predict Joe Biden or Tim Kaine!

Posted by: KYJurisDoctor | Aug 19, 2008 5:59:51 PM

Any candidate Obama picks with the exception of Kaine would be more experienced and overshawdow him. I say Obama/Kilpatrick/Edwards 08. One could be an alternate whilst the other was in the dog house.

chris - Huh? A join event with Obama and Clinton would be interesting I suppose.

Posted by: Huh | Aug 19, 2008 5:46:03 PM

forgive Senator Clinton's supporters for our support for her because we are only acting for the best interests of our children

"I think Keith Olbermann would add some life to the ticket and be a real surprise."

And it'd get him off teevee.

I could care less as long as it's not Clinton, I do not want her to go down with this sinking ship. Let him sink on his own, because he will.

olbermann would make a good yes-man for obama

Posted by: chris | Aug 19, 2008 5:38:41 PM

"Join" event, where they try to persuade more yahoos to join their cult-like movement

Posted by: chris | Aug 19, 2008 5:37:09 PM

I think Keith Olbermann would add some life to the ticket and be a real surprise. The netroots would love the pick and he would have no problem being an attack dog against McCain and his yet to be named running mate.

Phony to his bone.

ABC, you guys are awesome most of the time, but you must fix your headlines.

"Join Event" ? What's that?

Posted by: Spimewrangler | Aug 19, 2008 5:33:18 PM

Will Rev. Wright be sequestered in the basement to give the ticket his private blessing prior to their campaign launch?
