Obama Distances Self From Campaign Spox Attack on Palin
August 29, 2008 4:41 PM
Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., was just now asked about the conflicting statements from his campaign on Sen. John McCain's, R-Ariz., pick of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate -- first, an attack by a spokesman, then a congratulatory statement by Obama and running mate Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del.
"I think that, you know, campaigns start getting these hair triggers," Obama said at Pennsylvania Biodiesel Inc. in Monaca, Pa. "The statement that Joe and I put out reflects our sentiments."

The Amish don't get entitlements and don't want them. They successfully lobbied congress years ago to be exempt from SS. THEY ALSO KNOW, WHAT DAMAGE ENTITLEMENTS CAN DO TO THE INDIVIDUAL SOUL AND TO SOCIETY IN GENERAL. REMEMBER JOHNSON'S "GREAT SOCIETY" IN THE SIXTIES? WHAT A DISASTER THAT WAS! AMISH ARE PROBABLY THE LAST OF THE AMERICAN BREED!!

"McCain's ad on the eve of B O's EarMarking speech at the stadium honored Martin Luther King and wished Obama well."
After running negatives ads all week and breaking a decades old gentleman's agreement between the parties that conventions are a time for the opposition to have the limelight.
And, as he said, " but tomorrow's another day""
And he attacked him about 5 seconds after his speech.
Making the insincerity of the ad clear for all to see.

Eric C: "No JHW539, her plan, unvieled in May is an addtional $1200 administered through the fund"
OK, I looked it up. There is no "taxes on oil companies" that pay for it. She is simply giving away $1200 of the permanent fund to every Alaskan (easy to do since there aren't many, they get all those oil revenues, and they soak the lower 48 - getting $1.87 in federal tax support for every $1 they pay in). Palin's plan is estimated to cost the state $769 million. As a typical Republican, she offered no offsetting cost cuts or taxes to cover the check she wrote (lucky she started with a free pot of savings to raid since states can't carry a deficit).

you have to give mccain credit---he is good at using women to get what he wants----ask his wife or both of them--and just when i thought women were smart---what a letdown

"I know when Biden became the VP nominee, I was able to do a search for something about Biden and found dozens of articles. They've since disappeared for the most part.
"So I'm not surprised that Obama's initial classless response to the announcement about Palin have disappeared. This is how the left plays the game. They believe in free speech. For themselves."
-----
Stalinist subversion of the press is not a hallmark of the independent left -- open information IS.
Has the first response on Palin ALSO disappeared? The article I'm concerned about was a major AP article giving Charles Babington's take on Obama's Denver convention speech -- and the MSNBC denunciations of it are certainly still available.

Obama - great actor - but totally out of touch with the real world and NO IDEA what works and what doesn't work. Entitlement programs wind up doing more harm to the individual and a DISASTER TO A DEMOCRATIC SOCIETY IN GENERAL. REMEMBER JOHNSON'S "GREAT SOCIETY?" Obama's plans - SAME FAILED STUFF - DIFFERENT ERA!!

I guess you seee only what you want to see!
McCain's ad on the eve of B O's EarMarking speech at the stadium honored Martin Luther King and wished Obama well.
And, as he said, " but tomorrow's another day".
McCain is a Mensch!
I admire that in a candidate!

"She also enjoys a 65 percent approval ratings in a very democratic state!"
A Democrat hasn't won in the state in decades and her approval was at 80% or so in early July.
The lying has become pathological to the point where you even dimish GOOD things about your candidate.

all in all you have to admit --this time mcdummy has totally lost his mind--what little he has--or is very desperate.he actually thinks that the women supporting hillary would go against her and vote for him---that is really what i would call a stretch of the imagination.

Unlike Obama and Biden, PALIN ACTUALLY HAS EXPERIENCE RUNNING SOMETHING - state gov of Alaska - SUCCESSFULLY. SHE HAS socked it to corrupt Democrats AND REPUBLICANS alike. She also enjoys a 65 percent approval ratings in a very democratic state!! Five kids with son in military - leaving for Iraq next month. Great choice, McCain.

"No JHW539, her plan, unvieled in May is an addtional $1200 administered through the fund"
That is a one time payout though.
The other post was unclear on that.

The best way to fix the media problem is to become President and then just declare everything "executive privilege."
Posted by: blip | Aug 29, 2008 7:24:08 PM
Belle Star - The media are the problem. The biggest part of the problem. I've seen situations exactly as you documented but I don't know a way around it.
By this time I had expected that the internet and bloggers would force the media into at least a shamed position and a tad more truth. Instead, they've gotten more blatant.

Well... at least Palin get free government health care for her family. They are going to need it in this economy.
Too bad the GOP doesn't want it for the rest of us, though.
I cannot wait to cast my ballot for the REAL feminist candidate... John McCain... who uses the bad c-word in an effort to appropriate its meaning from the patriarchy and reclaim it as an act of pride for women everywhere.
