Obama on "The Obama Nation": Book "Sprung Full Bore Out of this Guy's Head"

August 18, 2008 3:43 AM

Note that Sen. Barack Obama's comments in San Francisco tonight included a reference to Jerome Corsi's discredited book "The Obama Nation."

Obama said his opponents have "got a whole machinery that they’re cranking out. They’ve got a book about me, that just kind of sprung full bore out of this guy’s head."

Read more about his remarks HERE.

Obama has deceived all of America.
He should step down.
The book is the truth and the truth hurts.

What a pack of lies, oh wait.. number one on the bestsellers list at Amazon and NYT? Oops. Maybe the posters here really don't want anyone to read the book and make up THEIR OWN MIND. Much better for you to tell them how to vote and what to think. You guys should see how you look to sensible, rational people.

"the book uses as reference for some of it points from Obamas book!!"

No, the book uses misquoted references from Obama's book.

This book is a heap of garbage just like corsi GARBAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not on subject....but I'm watching the news and Obama is scaling down to town hall meetings now instead of rock star forums that haven't worked so well for him (as proven by polls). Taking his cues from McCain, I see.

Correction: Maybe it's a malapropism and Greek. Bore was substituted for born. It's just a lot more complex than a Bushism like, Bush feels his intelligence is misunderestimated.

Obama actually used a malapropism. He meant Corsi's book was "sprung full blown (not bore)" out of his head. A malapropism is when a person uses a similar sounding word with a dissociated meaning , like the pundits are making predilections (predictions) on the VP based on the speaking derangements (arrangements) at the Theocratic (Democratic) Convention. Okay, so I made a mistake and turned a malapropism into something about Greek mythology.

I can understand the Obama supporters being upset by this book and who authored it, but what about some of the questions and points brought up in this book? Are we allowed to ask Obama if he ever sold drugs? Will we get a direct answer.

The actual phrase, translated from Greek is:

"sprung full-blown from the head of Zeus."

Posted by: ajmalkov | Aug 18, 2008 1:28:35 PM

mk is obviously correct.

Some reporter heard wrong and didn't understand the allusion.

"Bore" should be "born", as in, "sprung full-born out of some guy's head". And yes, it is an allusion to greek myth.

"I think there's at least a goddess that sprang out of Zeus's head."

As pointed out, that would be Athena.

Can it be that Obama fears this book and is implying that the facts in it have sprung forth fully armed as wisdom and the ability to destroy his campaign given his own attempts to swallow his past?

Be careful with myths. They are meaningful.

Whatever Obama....but it "sprung" to #1 on the Bestseller list and I hope it stays there until Nov. IT SHOULD BE MANDATORY READING FOR VOTERS WHO ONLY GET TO KNOW YOU THROUGH THE LIBERAL IN THE TANK FOR OBAMA MEDIA!

Sprung full bore out of the guy's head sounds like Greek mythology. I think there's at least a goddess that sprang out of Zeus's head. Those early Greeks just didn't want to give women too much credit. Anyway, I think Obama meant Corsi produced a major fabrication, though his expression comes across as Greek ( not understandable).

"gone through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. So it's not surprising then that they get bitter, and they cling to guns, or religion, or antipathy toward people who aren't like them, or anti-immigrant sentiment, or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."
Obama is lucky the South Asians are backing him with money because a lot of real Americans are not.

A book "Sprung Full Bore Out of this Guy's Head"
????

What does that mean? Obviously Obama was not using the teleprompter at the time. Obama needs a speech writer or he is totally floundering.

I'm surprised Obama hasn't accused the author of being a racist. Everyone else who opposes Obama is a racist, right?

Posted by: Dorothy Day Wilson | Aug 18, 2008 8:46:15 AM

Obama thought that because the media gave him a free ride and Hillary went easy on him that the Republicans would do the same. Barry Soetoro thought that he could re-write history and wipe the slate clean of his past life and associations. That misjudgment alone is enough to give anyone serious concerns about his ability to be president.

It should also raise questions about the character of a chalatan who lies so easily to suit himself, and lashes out at all who would question him. Again, if the book is libelous the Harvard lawyer should pull out his team of lawyers and sue; he was quick enough to use them to disenfranchise the voters of FL and MI. Obama needs to either put up or shut up.

They use these tactics because people are mostly inclined to believe the worst esp about some one who is fairly new on the scene. The facts Obama is disproving portions that are right out lies is a good strategy. I loved the segment on MSNBC about how the book was being bought in bulk mostly likely by the Gop; to make it to the best seller list. That the right wing is distributing them around. That mean individual sales would probably not have been successful enough. I pray everyday Americans won't be tricked by the Gop again for a third time. It would be nice to have a president to look out for the average working class for change and not just big business
