Obama 'Tired of Listening to Folks Who Talk Tough and Act Dumb' on Foreign Policy
August 31, 2008 9:19 PM
"We are going to change our foreign policy," said Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., to a crowd of 17,500 in Battle Creek, Mich., this evening, "because I am tired of listening to folks who talk tough and act dumb."
Hmmm…Whom could the senator be talking about?
"If John McCain wants to have a debate about foreign policy," Obama continued, "I am happy to have that debate."

Regrets for posting this under the wrong headin earlier. I take issue with Sen.Obamas' accusing only Republicans of saber rattling. He is the one I recall popping off about pursuing Al Qaeda into Pakistan. If there was a plan of action it's in the shredder now .Way to go.In 1976,during a debate between Ford and Carter, one of them spilled the beans regarding Stealth technology.Self-serving,reckless grandstanding... then and now.

Okay Obama, we know you hate wars.
SHUT UP.

jackt51, many thanks for producing the exact quote from Sen. Obama's book, Audacity of Hope. I stand corrected. Clearly, Sen. Obama was really talking about the Arab and Pakistani American immigrants to whom he would "stand with."

Speaking tough and dumb....
I will send a couple of million of my friends down to the disaster zone to help out....
Never haviong command of a National Gaurd , Obama clearly cannot comprehend what they do.
All these e-mail buddy crew members he spoke of assembling can
eat all the government relief supplies and make it harder for the National Guard to protect empty homes.
How about retracting a dumb statement, and instead suggest these same people join the National Guard and serve the USA?

Obama declares that he will tax people more if they make over $250,000 per year. Most of the people who fit that category live in cities like New York, San Francisco, LA and others where the cost of living is extremely high. These people already pay 60% of their income in taxes, which leaves them at $100,000. Can you imagine a family of four, with two kids in or going to college (without financial aid), with a mortgage on your house, trying to pay bills, and afford gasoline and food. A lot of those people are barely making ends meet and you want them to pay more? The times are changing where economists and politicians can not look at a specific number. They need to look at a range and determine the needs of households. A family living in a small town in Nebraska can comfortably live off of $50,000 per year. In NYC that is poverty, instead those people need closer to $150,000 if not more.

Did someone actually suggest debates so that Obama could show how much more he knows about foreign polcy than McCain? Does that person know that Obama has busted a gut trying to avoid the Townalls with McCain, where he could go up against McCain with no teleprompters? This guy is all talk, no accomplishments and without a teleprompter he sounds dumber than an unprepared George Bush.
Anyone that doesn't understand the need to talk tough and be tough in this world is still living in the world of the Care Bears. Just go ask Sarah Palin how nice the oil companies and power-wielding "good old boys" were in Alaska, when she set out to reform "politics as usual".
Obama is hopelessly outclassed in this election. He knows it and that's he needed to choose a grown-up as runnning mate. But he really shot himself in the foot on this one. McCain picked a superstar who has a track record of accomplishment in government reform and achieving energy independence; she has private sector as well as public sector experience, executive experience as well as legislative experience, and has even used the veto which nobody else on either ticket has ever done.
Obama's only hope against Sarah Palin is to choose Hillary Clinton for a running mate. Once again, Obama's judgment has proved to be short sighted and a serious weakness.

I can't wait until Obama gets elected and then when all you sorry saps start complaining about all the tax increases going to a handout to the increasing poor people that are going to loose there jobs under Obama due to the loss of more businesses fleeing this country, I can really stick it back in your face!
Posted by: M P | Sep 1, 2008 1:18:26 PM
I cant wait until Obama debates McCain and shows the American people how much more presidential he is than McCain. How much smarter he is than McCain. And in the end, how phony McCain is.
Posted by: Dan | Sep 1, 2008 12:52:15 PM
McCain has been lying to the american people for months. Since he has become the nominee his main argument against Barack Obama has been his lack of experience. Well McCain had said that Obama was will to say or do anything to win the presidency. By picking Sarah Palin, as his vp, a person who has far, far less NATIONAL POLITICAL EXPERIENCE than Obama, it shows that McCain must have been talking about himself when he was talking about Obama. It also shows that McCain does not believe in any of his arguments, but rather will say or do anything to win

Johm McCain spent about as much time picking the person he believes is best qualified to be a hearbeat away from fighting the terorists as George Bush did in deciding to take our country to war in Iraq to avenge Sadam's attempt to kill his father in Kuwait.

Will...
Good comparison. There is something within Obama--about his constant need to have thousands fall at his feet.
There is also something within the fanatics that are willing to worship him.
Maybe it's something in me--but I thought his self-serving Berlin speech, and spending 6 million for that Denver Temple was rediculous.
Posted by: riley | Sep 1, 2008 10:57:47 AM
Will, based on Sen. Obama's OWN WORDS he intends to raise taxes on those making at least $250,000 and give tax cuts to those making less than $150,000. He then intends to implement his new entitlements to the middle class (i.e., universal health care, free pre-school and free college, etc.). I am taking him at his word that this is what he will do.
Of course we all know just how good his word really is. Sen. Obama told Bill O'Reilly he would go on the factor, but has yet to do so. AND Sen. Obama said he was going to accept public financing for the general election but now he has dismissed that.
Now then you asked if I really believe that the middle class will be given new entitlements. Yes I do, but they won't be free. At some point, whether AFTER the middle class gets the Obama tax cuts (remember he intends to let the 2001 & 2003 Bush tax cuts for the middle class expire--so we still don't know if the Obama tax cuts will be a net tax cut or a net tax increase on the middle class) or before, Sen. Obama and the Democrats will eventually realize that they don't have the money to actually implement the new entitlements. So instead of foregoing the new entitlements they will still implement them, but then turn around and raise taxes on the middle class to pay for the new entitlements.

Increasing the size of the FED by thirty percent WILL PRETTY MUCH WIPE US OUT! Against increasing out domestic oil supply. And... ABSULUTELY NO EXECUTIVE EXPERIENCE AND NO FOREIGN POLICY EXPERIENCE UNLESS YOU COUNT HIS HOLLYWOOD TRIP TO MIDDLE-EAST AND EUROPE AFTER WHICH HIS POLL NUMBERS ACTUALLY DROPPED!!

If Obama has spent 6 millions on thursday, it is due to damn idiots who doesn't get the idea unless it is aired on TV or Radio. Obama's message is clear and short. Enough is enough. We need this country back. Once he is in power, he will change how this machinery works. With the dying GOP in power or more influence, nothing can happen. Demos nedd majority on both houses and presideny. America will be new and shining.

Obama spent 6 million dollars last Thursday night.
Six million dollars--for what? To build a temple and feed his enormous ego.
Obama will tax us and small business just to fund his pet projects and support his lavish spending habits.

Palin and Obama are both a heartbeat away from the presidency.
In head-to-head comparisons of the past 20 years of Palin/Obama--Obama loses big time.
Obama does not want to compare how taxpayer money was spent, how they voted on guns and abortion, the boards they served on (William Ayers), his military experience--she headed the Guard, their mentors, friends, churches.
He does not want to go there.
McCain's pick was brilliant!

Meanwhile Ha’aretz reports that Joe Biden told Israeli leaders that they would have to accept a nuclear Iran if Barack Obama wins the Presidency. Israelis expressed “amazement” at Biden’s attitude:
"Democratic vice-presidential candidate Joe Biden was quoted Monday as telling senior Israeli officials behind closed doors that the Jewish state will have to reconcile itself to a nuclear Iran.
In the unsourced report, Army Radio also quoted Biden as saying that he opposed “opening a additional military and diplomatic front.”

During his speech at the convention, Obama said that he only wants to make wars that have a "sacred commitment".
Really? He is going to fight holy wars? Jihads maybe? What does that mean, "sacred commitment"? Obama is just trying to spin war into sounding pretty. Doesn't that sound dangerous to anyone out there?
War is hell- and should not be painted in any other color. No mind control, no Obama. Please!
Posted by: teri | Sep 1, 2008 10:21:41 AM
Obama and Biden are fininshed. Good ole Joe has shown himself unable to keep his mouth shut. I am referencing comments made to Israel that, and I quote "Israel will have to reconcile itself with the nuclearization of Iran," Army Radio quoted Biden as telling the unnamed officials.
"It's doubtful if the economic sanctions will be effective, and I am against opening an additional military and diplomatic front."
This was from a Ha'aretz article dated 1/9/08. Please by all means dig and find it yourselves.
This leaves any doubts of "Obama the appeaser" in the trash.

Obama voted 98% of the time with Pelosi and Dean. With their 9% approval rating is that something to be proud of?
Obama is afraid to debate. Everyone knows it except those who refuse to see.
Obama and Biden on the campaign trail are like a comedy team. LaVerne and Shilrley, Martin and Lewis.
I'm not sure who is more immature or who has the bigger ego.

rodney, you hit the nail on the head when you say that McCain voted 95% of the time with Bush. That will be the message from Obama/ Biden as the campaign revs up: Bush + McCain = McSame.

James Danley Writes: Sen. Obama will destroy the American Dream. Under a President Obama, those who have accomplished the American Dream will see much of their wealth stolen in order to give new entitlements to the middle class. Sen. Obama will turn our thriving capitalistic society into nothing more than a typical European welfare state.
Do you really think the middle class will be given new entitlements? The middle class will suffer more than anyone. The rich will stay rich, more will be taken away from the middle class and those who won't work for a living will get even a bigger free pass!

Shyam, before you accuse Democrats of "forgiving" the enemy, remember what Ronald Reagan's response was to the attack on the US Marines in Beirut on October 20 1983 which killed 241 American servicemen?
And more recently, Osama bin Laden was allowed to get away unpunished with the 2001 WTC attack because George Bush decided to turn his attention away from those who committed the act to invade Iraq instead.

What will a McCain/Palin administration do to lower health insurance premiums?
Republicans always mention that an Obama/Biden administration will convert our health system into a socialist system. That is not true. That is said to scare voters (voters who do not inform themselves on the issue). What have to Republicans done to lower health insurance costs? Nothing. At least Senator Obama and Senator Biden are willing to embark on a different direction so that American families do not lose their homes when they have a medical emergency. As you know, lots of American citizens or permanent residents have to sell their homes to pay for the medical expenses. Or if Americans have to have a surgery and do not have health insurance, after the surgery, they are bombarded with huge medical bills. Can that happen in a developed nation such as ours? What do you guys out there in particular Republicans propose to reduce health care costs? How can we get rid of these huge medical bills?

Mary Anne, lets do this: I'll list an accomplishment of Obama's or Biden's, and you in return list one of McCain's or Palin's in response.
Here's one of the "gas bag" Biden's:
THE VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN ACT
Ending Violence Against Women: Senator Biden wrote the ground-breaking Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) in the 1990s that set the national agenda on criminalizing violence against women and holding batterers truly accountable. It encouraged states to set up coordinated community responses to domestic violence and rape; was the catalyst for passage of hundreds of state laws prohibiting family violence; and provided resources to set up shelters so battered women abused by husbands and boyfriends had a place to go. The law also established the national hotline that over 1.5 million abused women have called for help. By empowering women to make changes in their lives, and by training police and prosecutors to arrest and convict abusive husbands instead of telling them to take a walk around the block, domestic violence is down 50 percent and rape is down 60 percent nationwide.
Your move.

mccain says if you make less that 5 million a year you are middle class.
NOW THAT IS DUMB
Posted by: rodney | Sep 1, 2008 9:47:10 AM
Obama does not need a foreign policy.
He will do like Carter and Clinton. When America gets attacked, he will follow Gandhi and forgive the enemy. The way President carter did with the Iranians. When Iranians captured US diplomats in Tehran and paraded them like dogs, President Carter forgave them and we did not have a war. The way President Clinton did in Somalia. When US marine was killed and his body was dragged in the streets of Somalia, President Clinton forgave them and told US Navy to come back home and relax.
Obama will do the same and guess what folks, we will not have a war because we will forgive everyone who harms America. We will follow Gandhi and Martin Luther King. Very soon, we will not need an army. We could dismantle US army and use that money for tax break. Whole world will love us because we are going to be the Superpower with no Army.
If Russia starts Cold War, Obama will say he is not interested in a war. Russia can take over the world, he does not care. All he cares is tax credits for his people.

david, the first attack by terrorists on the WTC took place in 1993 when Clinton had been in office for about one month and the second took place in 2001 when Bush had been in office for 9 months.
Did Bush 1 drop the ball on Binladen? You certainly can't put the blame on Clinton as he was in office for only four weeks.
In 2001, having been nine months in office, Bush II had adequate warning that something was brewing, but did he do enough to attempt to thwart the attacks?
I'm not saying he could have prevented the attack, but did he try hard enough to do so?

Patty, you wrote: "Listen to me voters out there. You have to read to make good decisions." I agree! Why not read Sen. Obama's book, Audacity of Hope. Especially the part where he says: "I will stand with the Muslims should the politcal winds shift in an ugly direction."
You also wrote: "You have to assess what the consequences will be if she has to replace Mr. McCain." But Sen. Obama--who has less executive experience than Gov. Palin--won't be waiting for anyone. If elected, he will be in charge from the very first minute. A man who is great on rhetoric, but lacks actual accomplishments. He greatest accomplishment is his ability to hoodwink slightly more than half of the Democratic Party into actually nominating him to be their candidate for president.
Sen. Obama will destroy the American Dream. I guess he should shut his mouth and than he won't have to listen to himself! Go McCain!!! Only a 3-6 point bounce post convention. Wow! I was hoping for such great news and it is like a dream come true for me. I want to see him get trounced by John McCain in November. Maybe than our TRUE Democratic party will return once they learned that lesson. People say we are Republicans posing as Democrats. I say that Obama and his cronies are pretending to be Democrats when they act more like Republicans all the time. The right wing of the Dems crucified the Clintons a few years back and than the left wing with Obama leading the charge attacked them both this year, and attacked anyone who supported Hillary Clinton, and the Dem party allowed this to take place. He sexually bashed Hillary and is reconstructing our beloved party. Nobama 08!!! He insulted Bill Clinton and all of his contributions to our country. Please don't simply write in Hillary's name on election day or stay home from voting on that day. The only thing the political animal understands is when they can't get elected. We need to cast our votes for John McCain so that the Dems get the message loud and clear that we will not put up with this type of behavior and treatment anymore. PLEASE GO OUT AND VOTE FOR MCCAIN ON ELECTION DAY!!Obama is a thug who associates with known thugs. He is not what he portrays himself to be so don't be fooled by his public speaking image into thinking he will be a good president. He will be mediocre at best and I personally don't think he deserves to be rewarded for this kind of behavior by being elected President. Please vote for John MCCain and work on anyone you come into contact with about it. A man jokingly said to me at Wal-mart yesterday, "So, I take it you are voting for Obama?" lolol I have bumper stickers on my car that state, O'bummer08, nobama, no experience no presidency, mccain 08 because an elephant is better than a jack _ _ _, Hillary 08, etc. After speaking with him for about 5 minutes he said in parting, "I was going to vote for Obama but now I am going to have to do some serious thinking about it after speaking to you." Let's get them thinking everybody! Let's pull one vote at time in for John McCain. Obama doesn't want anyone to think he just wants everyone fooled by his public speaking ablities. Please look deeper that that and consider John McCain. Go McCain.
Posted by: Mary Anne | Sep 1, 2008 9:27:08 AM
A CNN poll of registered voters taken 8/29-31 shows that 14% will be more likely to vote for McCain because of the Palin pick, 5% less likely and 81% no difference. So averaging out the more likely will and will nots, you end up with 9% more likely wills.
Watch for the 9% to get smaller as more info about Palin comes out.
Probably not the numbers McCain was hoping for.

It would be interesting to look back at the past 30 years or so, count the number of times we were attacked somewhere around the world by people with the same mentallity as a Bin Laden and then look at the last 5 or 6 and run a tally, see which works best; appeasing terrorist for a few decades or talking tough and using that toughness to crack some heads. Perhaps Obama should go back and read some history books instead of writting of his great exploits.

Hey Palin supporters, check this out:
The Alaskan Independence Party's goal is the vote we were entitled to in 1958, one choice from among the following four alternatives:
1. Remain a Territory.
2. Become a separate and Independent Nation.
Sarah Palin was a member of the AIP before she became Governor.
Google "Sarah Palin AIP"
3. Accept Commonwealth status.
4. Become a State.
The call for this vote is in furtherance of the dream of the Alaskan Independence Party's founding father, Joe Vogler, which was for Alaskans to achieve independence under a minimal government, fully responsive to the people, promoting a peaceful and lawful means of resolving differences.

It amazes me to read these negative momment about Obama.Bush and McCain both can't express themselves nor read well yet some say they are tired of listening to Obama. McCain can't lead Obama into battle. Obama can set his own agenda of time table to speak out and travel. This world is full of foolish people with selfish thoughts and negative ideas. Our leaders are feeding our communities with negative ideas and out next generations of young people needs better. Its nothing like an old fool.

Why do people keep harping on Obama not meeting Mccain at town hall meetings? Mccain didnt want to debate Obama, he wanted to sway media momentum without spending money to do so.
Mccain is an absolutely horrible speaker, half of the time he isnt even looking at the crowd or the camera as he has to constantly check his notes because he cant remembe the script that others wrote for him, that he hopefully understands but often does not appear to.
The only thing that will keep him from looking extremely bad in a debate will be the charity of Obama who will likely not hammer Mccain nearly as hard as he should.

Obamas first experience with foreign policy was when he told Canadian officals he was lying to the American People About Natfta, behind Americans backs.
That was pretty much Dumb in all Aspects.
His Second was standing in Front of a Huge Crowd in Germany Professing to be a Citizen of the World.
Hmmm Not country First and foremost.
The man who made fun of John McCain who wanted to go through The UN with Russia.
This From a man who went to Israel and promised them Stuff, then went to Palestine and had to eat or alter his words about Jerusalem.
Obama is "talk Dumb and act dumb."

Ms. Palin is not prepared to be President of the United States period.
What the Republican campaign and Mr. McCain have done is just marketing: present a nice woman with McCain who is 72 years old and the uneducated population will vote for that ticket. Listen to me voters out there. You have to read to make good decisions. You have to read to vote on November 4, 2008. Do not just take into account if the person (in this case Ms. Palin) is nice looking. You have to assess what the consequences will be if she has to replace Mr. McCain. What the Republicans have done is just marketing (picking Ms. Palin).

Obama hit it on the head.
The GOP wants to resurrect the Cold War for no other reason than to feed their political machine. Any thinking person would see their craven charade of patriotism. War gives them cover to plunder our treasures for their arms dealers and oilmen. And that is a demonstrable fact.

It is funny because the press talks like all college kids like Obama but only the dorks at my school like him. The rest of us laugh at him. He seems like an old lawyer who is trying to be cool.

Responding to Zack: Zack, remember that Bill Gates was once considered a 'dork'. Be careful what you say about Senator Obama. Words said in jest and/or anger almost always come back to haunt you.
