Obama to McCain: Your "Juvenile" Tactics Are Fattening Our Campaign Coffers

August 01, 2008 5:37 PM

The campaign of Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, has a message for Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz, and his newly aggressive tactics: you're being juvenile, and all you're doing is helping us raise money.

McCain has this week issued a TV ad comparing Obama to an Paris Hilton and Britney Spears, which McCain-backing Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-SC, said was to show that Obama-mania is "hysteria around a personality that's attractive, but when you look under the hood there's not a whole lot there."

Today McCain issued a web video insinuating that Obama -- called "The One" -- is a false messiah, perhaps not unlike Shabbatai Tvi, or that dude that owns The Washington Times.

Of McCain's new messiah web video, released today, Obama campaign spokesman Hari Sevugan says, "it’s downright sad that on a day when we learned that 51,000 Americans lost their jobs, a candidate for the presidency is spending all of his time and the powerful platform he has on these sorts of juvenile antics. Senator McCain can keep telling everyone how ‘proud’ he is of these political stunts which even his Republican friends and advisors have called ‘childish’, but Barack Obama will continue talking about his plan to jumpstart our economy by giving working families $1,000 of immediate relief."

The Obama campaign also claims that yesterday more than 100,000 donors -- more than a third of them first-time contributors -- contributed to Obama's campaign on the internet, prompted -- they believe -- by McCain's newly aggressive and negative approach, "taking this campaign into the gutter," according Obama campaign manager David Plouffe .

"You responded this week" to McCain's attacks, Plouffe says in a new web video emailed to contributors, because "you want a different kind of politics…You're not going to allow these attacks from John McCain to dominate this campaign."

"I think John McCain has harmed himself in the last week, really eroding any capital he had built up in terms of the kind of politician he is," Plouffe says, "but he's really helped our campaign. Because so many of you now have contributed in the last week, our field offices across the country had people pouring into them yesterday. Because while John McCain may want to make this campaign about Paris Hilton and Britney Spears, you want to make it about our future and the change we all need to make."

"As Catholics, this is beyond insulting... to use one of the most revered man in the Bible is beyond the pale."

As a Methodist, JMC, I have to inform you that is Charlton Heston, not Moses. The one thing we know about Brittany and Paris is they are NOT actresses. They play themselves everywhere they go. Obama should consider doing the same but then who knows if he knows who he is at this point.

Obama: The Symbol Or The Lawyer?

How much money is mccain collecting in Social Security? Is his first wife
still living, the one he cheated on and then went on to marry the millionaire?
Why did he flip-flop on the tax breaks for the super rich? Why did he not
denounce the hagee endorsement earlier? What was his role in the keating-5?
Why didn't he want any cameras around during the bush fund-raiser last week??
Really makes you say hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm doesn't it??

So more money will convince Americans
that Obama can be trusted and is qualified to be president.

I don't think so..It does make him look like a desperate politician trying to buy the election.

Obama will raise our taxes to support his enormous spending habits.

Taxpayers will pay for Obama's pet projects and probably foot the bill for some of his crazy pastors.

What's more juvenile than a make-believe presidential seal.

Or a presidential candidate posing for reporters on his airplane--twirling around in his jeans.

Or giving free concerts and beer to attrack huge crowds to feed his ego.

Or a middle-aged presidential candidate kissing up to disgusting rappers just to look cool.

Yes Obama is real mature.

Time to send a donation to McCain.

Clue alert! George H.W. Bush was photographed doing the fist bump in 2006! So I assume he is "juenvile" too? LOL!

Love it! After seeing the "Moses" ad, my entire family donated, most for the first time ever. As Catholics, this is beyond insulting. Every Christian should be outraged. It's ONE thing to use Paris and Brittany, but to use one of the most revered man in the Bible is beyond the pale.

It shows you just how McCain feels about religion, he will use it to smear his opponent. DIGUSTING!

I would like some thorough research into where Obama's contributions are really coming from. I have heard that although he claims most of his donations come from first time, small $ contributors, that he is really getting funded by a number of powerful people with hefty agendas and favors that need filling. I wish a journalist would look further into this. This could be some pretty shady stuff. When Obama declares so often that his money comes from small donations, I start to think 'He doth protest too much'.

If the way Obama handled the protesters is any indication as how Obama would handle an international crisis... WE'RE IN TROUBLE!!!

Yeah, a guy who does fist bumbs with his wife, Jay-Z brush offs and Will Smith bird flipping is calling someone juvenile. And Obama the fool has turned old McCain into juvenile McCain. Not very bright is it.

I just wander how many youngsters would like the comparison of them with politicians who are throwing garbage on each other.

Every day this week because of these attack ads, I have donated to Barack's campaign. The latest ad about Moses really reminds me that not only did God part the Red Sea, but Jesus feed at least 5000 with 5 fish and 2 loaves of bread. Thanks to John McCain and the Republican party the money donated to Barack's campaign MULTIPLES!!

Posted by: Not This Time | Aug 2, 2008 2:14:42 AM

Desperation!!!! Sheer manic desperation on the part of John Mccain's campaign. I have always felt that John McCain is not just a maverick as he boasts (indisciplined man), he is a dirty old man. His tactics are dirty. his words are laden with filth. I just cannot understand why in heaven's name anyone would want to put this angry, demented old man in the White House in the 21st century.

Posted by: exatlantic | Aug 2, 2008 1:52:21 AM

I donated for the first time after I saw Obama fight back with that good ad.We need more of those lined up atleast every other day, never mind the money.

Posted by: Jeter | Aug 2, 2008 1:50:36 AM

I hope Obama won't be playing nice with McSame's attacks? That will be a BIG mistake. He tried it with Hillary and he narrowly won. This is the time to go full throttle against McSame.

Posted by: ddave | Aug 2, 2008 1:16:28 AM

Hey, McCain supporters, did you see where McCain said something with which his campaign did NOT agree? When the interviewer asked one of McCain's lead guys about it, he replied: Senator McCain does not speak for our campaign!! Imagine that!! So what we obviously have at McCain's campaign is his campaign heads creating and writing what McCain MUST SAY, when he goes of script as he often does, he IS NOT SPEAKING FOR THE CAMPAIGN!!! McCain's handlers are the ventriloquists and they pull the strings which make McCain the puppet speak. Who's running for president anyway?? Is it McCain or is it one of his handlers, or all of his handlers?? I am confused, aren't you? McCain does okay when IF he keeps his eyes on the written words, he does not do well with the teleprompters. If he looks away from his notes and the teleprompters, he loses his place and begins making up his own thing which does not match where he left off....the are the times McCain is not speaking for the campaign and when he sounds like an jerk. Aren't you McCain supporters getting tired of looking at that pale corpse-like face with a smirk which pauses and waits for applause which he seldom gets?? McCain has always been a vicious man, he is known for his rages in the senate. He has tried to "play nice" but cannot hide his facade so the real vicious, ugly, dispicable McCain is exposing himself for who he really is! Love it!! Am glad we are seeing the REAL McCain BEFORE the General Election and NOT AFTER!! I cannot imagine this vicious, ugly old buzzard at the helm of our Beloved United States!!

Republicans like McCain have nothing left to do but attack. Obama is talking issues while McCain is talking about Hollywood. I want to fill my gas tank Mr.McCain and I can't do that by waiting on greedy oil companies to drill or you talking about a stupid ad. Obama '08.

we made 145 contributions to Obama's campaign this week. It was insane, it took a lot of time, and now we're broke.

Who is bonehead now, and get deceived.

Posted by: Jokerous | Aug 2, 2008 12:31:02 AM

You bonehead supporters might just save your 100 bucks rent for this month to pay your increasing gas bills. Coffers. With his inflating-your-tire-energy-strategy, you will need to pay 5 times more if he deceives enough people.
