Obama's Attacks Keep Getting Sharper

August 18, 2008 7:13 PM

Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., continued his sharper attacks on Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., today at Rio Grande High School in Albuquerque, NM.

"My opponent John McCain," he said as the crowd began to boo, "John McCain, you know, he has been talking about how he puts country first, but I have to say it is not an example of putting country first when you say that George Bush’s economic policies have shown great progress. He said that just a few months ago -- that, you know, we made great economic progress under George Bush. Then he started running ads saying 'oh, Obama just going to raise your taxes and he will lead to an economic disaster.'"

"Mr. McCain let me explain to you, the economic disaster is happening right now," Obama continued, "maybe you haven't noticed!

"He has got his major economic advisor calling you whiners," Obama said, referring to former Sen. Phil Gramm.  "He said, 'oh, the American people are whining' one of McCain's top advisors said, 'a nation of whiners.' 'They have a mental depression. They are just imagining things are bad."

"This guy obviously does not pump his own gas. He obviously doesn't do his own shopping. He (is) obviously not paying his own bills," Obama said.

Just for reference to the person who was talking about this- Obama's household income jumped from $991,296 in 2006 to $4.2 million in 2007, tax records show. Yet he is still not rich according to John McCain!

Arthur et al. -- I am a diehard Obama supporter, but there is nothing to be gained by attacking McCain's integrity, military record, or patriotism. That would be the surest way for Obama to lose badly. That's why Obama has take the high road.

This election is a complete no-brainer. Obama recognizes the disaster we have on our hands and wants a clean break from Bush's failed policies, "accomplished" at our expense by perverting government, trashing the constitution and everything it stands for, and antagonizing other countries, all because of his greed for power. McCain has said he agrees with most of Bush's policies. If Obama wins, we could end up with the drastic reversal of course that we need. If McCain wins, things will improve slightly (since no one could be as bad as idiot George), but otherwise things will remain as they are. If that's okay with you, vote for McCain. If you want significant change, you'll be foolish not to vote for Obama. No-brainer.

Obama needs a voice coach.

He was trying to make a joke about McCain's cutoff for being rich is $5 million dollars.

Obama actually said "uh uh, ee ee, but but...then he finally started talking.

I don't know if he stutters because he is nervous or because he is being deceptive--but it is happening all the time when he is without a prompter.

I can see why Obama does not want to debate his opponents.

Vote for Obama. I'm for the new guy. John McBush is senile and will get us killed. Other presidents listen, he knows it all already. He's dangerous.
Barack is smart and will do just fine protecting his country. Let McBush go back to the senate and take a nap.

dl, you wrote: "...along with the guy whose plan actually brings relief now with focusing on alternatives." NOW? And that guy is still on the fence regarding nuclear power!

Even Sen. Obama acknowledges that it will take 20 years for alternative fuels to become just 50% of our energy source. And at the end of that twenty years 50% of our energy will still come from fossil fuel; and over 70% of that will still be foreign oil. So in twenty years we will still have the same national security issues regarding the threats of being cut off oil by rogue nations.

I repeat: Sen. McCain is calling for 45 new nuclear plants to be up and running by 2030. He is calling for increased efforts towards wind, hydro and solar energy in addition to drilling here and now.

We need to throw everything we have into this solution. It's simple Economics 101 folks!! Lowering demand lowers prices. Increasing supply lowers prices. Lowering demand AND increasing supply lowers prices faster!

A change in flow of Obama vs McCain Bout?

Obama came out with 2 billion dollars for Nasa. McCain Fires Back At Obama To Win Over NASA Supporters.

Does this mean Obama is setting the pace this round before the convention?

If Obama defends himself against McCain's punch on Nasa will this be seen as a attack or blocking a McCain left jab?

Former U.S. Rep. Jim Leach, a leading Republican with a foreign policy background, is endorsing Democrat Barack Obama for president.

way to go obama--it is about time mccain is held responsible for his past on all fronts------he is what he is and all need to be aware of this mcbush guy. he has told everyone what they want to hear even when it is the opposite of what he said the day before--mccain is the biggest fake in the last 24 years and that includes bush.

Does obama do his own shopping and pump his own gas. I think not. How much did Obama and his hostile wife earn last year. Glass houses Folks!

I don't think defending yourself is a attack. Think of Rove and Scmidt as Taunting bullies with attack ads. Obama blocked their attack ad and then Obama told them he had better things to do with his and the voters time by doing a positive ad.

Easy to see Obama's paid bloggers on here tonight. I'm betting Obama's convention bounce won't be any better than his Berlin bounce was. The Dems sure threw this one away.

GOPers want to blame the democrats for higher gas prises? The energy crisis is the result of Bush's war, economic policies, and a long history of refusing to convert to renewables (a history J. McCain is very much part of). It is not their fault that the trend continued when anything they try to do is filibustered or vetoes. Republicans are admittedly good at politics, but they have no clue when it comes to policy. Look how they have ruined this country starting with taking us off the gold standard, deregulating the economy, creating speculator loopholes, lying to start a war, and borrowing billions from the Chinese to fund their failures. Clearly not this congresses fault, or certainly not wholly, for this happened on Republican watch.

Posted by: mummblemouth | Aug 19, 2008 4:10:39 AM

you gotta love the ignorance of people making fun of the energy actions that actually save money...

along with the guy whose plan actually brings relief now with focusing on alternatives...not continuing a dependence on fossil fuels that will (no matter what continue our high dependence on other countries)

Energy independence means getting as far away from OIL as we can ... you don't do that by having your first tactic toward breaking the addiction as opening new pharmacies that will open in 7 years and bring prices down then...and say it will effect the market...all the while no regulation of speculators of the market.(Partly because the people who deregulated that market are your lead economy advisors)

this is stupid people should read and common sense should tell you the guy with the lobbyist team...is the guy who probably isn't the guy who should be leading.

LOL, Right wing wing-nuts. They want to have their cake and eat it too. How typical! 'What happened to Obama taking the high road?' LOL...where have you been, that is precisely what has and is happening for an attack is warranted as long as it is not a blatant lie, a la McCain. 'He has no ideas so he attacks.' What?! Obama has a plan and it is clearly laid out on his website among other places. Rather, it is McCain without any ideas - at least not any that differ from the failed policies of the last four years. That McCain and company misrepresented is only further proof of their tentative relationship to the truth. 'Obama can't comment on J. McCain's military service.' Why not? I respect him for not doing so, but the wing nuts have clearly forgotten Bush's swiftboating of Kerry. Republican has become synonymous with hypocrite, and hypocrisy is the problem in this country. Vote Obama, Barr, or Nader...for McCain equals failure.

Since gas prices are down slightly I just lowered my tire pressure by 2 psi. The great O, are you happy I am following your energy plan???
