Oh, That Joe! (Number 3 in a Series)

August 31, 2008 9:53 AM

Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., stopped by a Marengo, Ohio, fruit and produce stand next to an expansive soy bean field to get some corn on Saturday.

Joined by former Sen. John Glenn, D-Ohio, Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, and Gov. Ted Strickland, Biden talked to locals at the stand, really just a small truck, run by Sharon Hildebrand, where corn sells for four bucks for a dozen ears.

"What color M&M's you like?" Biden asked Luke, a local wearing an M&M NASCAR hat.

The boy said he liked red the best.

"I like the red ones best, too," Biden said. "I like the orange ones, too."

Biden then spotted three young girls.

"You have gorgeous eyes," Biden said. "All of you do. Holy mackerel! Look at those eyes, they're like beacons!"

"This is the number one thing," Biden said, "how old are you?"

The responses: 10, 11, 13.

"No boys 'til you're thirty," Biden said, "no boys till you're 30 years old."

He used the "no boys till you're 30" line again on the father of a 15-year old girl.

"That's what I keep trying but it's a losing battle," said the father.

"It's a losing battle with my daughter, too," Biden responded, referring to his 27-year-old daughter Ashley.

"I keep telling her they're highly over-rated," said the dad.

Biden also chatted up a local man who shares Obama's August 4 birthday.

"By the way, you know what I found out today?" Biden told him. "You're not gonna believe this. They went back and showed me my Irish lineage and his and they said we're related," referencing Sen. Barack 0bama, D-Illinois.

"Oh, you're kidding," said the older man.

"The bad news is that means I'm related to Cheney," Biden joked, alluding to the fact that Obama and Vice President Cheney are distantly related.

Before he left, Biden -- brandishing his plastic bag of corn -- told the crowd that, "I'm taking the corn and getting the hell out of here. I'm not giving anybody this corn!"

The fear is palpable. Palin has the Obamabots scared spitless. They have no idea how securely they have fallen into the McCain trap. This will be highly amusing in a very short period of time.

Trish-it's women like you and your neighbor that will continue to keep women back, what is her husband there for, did he not have just as much responsibility in this decision. Women do it all and have been doing it all for decades, I respect my elders however, your neighber was raised in another time when women stayed home and took care of the children, but she should know better than any, they also were the ones that ran the household and made the important decisions, so God Bless her heart but it's a new day. I hope that you don't have a daughter, let's see how you like it when society tells her that she can't be a mother and go out and work and make a difference.

You just have to love Biden, a real breath of fresh air.

Just one quick thing on Palin. And I mean this with all respect. Has she thought about the pressures of raising a child with downs syndrome so publicly? Its all happened to her very quickly, and has she thought about the pressures it will put on her and her family? Sincerly I hope she has considered it and is prepared to take measures to protect her young child.

PUMA for Palin- I know, just thought I would put it out there.

The Republicans are now going to play the gender card just as hard as they play the POW card. What a joke. This party should audition for American Idol.

Noun/Verb/POW
Noun/Verb/She is a women
What a joke, and this will go down as being the worst VP pick particularily after the vetting is completed.

My 85 year old Republican neighbor isn't voting for McCain/Palin. Her reasoning was that Sarah has 5 kids and one a baby with special needs. She said Sarah should stay at home and raise that baby instead of putting the job off on somebody else. I will be driving my neighbor to the polls.

Kim

You're probably wasting your time trying to reason with Obama supporters. Better to try to teach a snail to fly!

jen

What does that make you? Perhaps you like tall skinny men with long fingers and dumbo ears?

Obama bloggers have recognized the difficulty of attacking Palin so they revert to lies and hate. A chip off Obama's blockhead when he reverted to race-baiting. Obama's bloggers are reason enough to vote for anybody but him. Anybody but him! Anybody!

Willem van Oranje, "Yeah. Firing respected officers on behalf of her family (Monegan); and for supporting an opponent in an election campaign (the Wasilla police chief and library director when she was mayor) and installing cronies."

A helpful suggesting, before you continuing cutting and pasting this written soundbite, do a little checking and note that at the center of the story is a state trooper who tazed his own 11 year old and threaten to kill his wife's father. A guy carrying state trooper with previous citations.

Between this and attacking the Palin infant and the teenage daughter you followers have reached a new level of scum. And you are what has taken over the Democratic Party?

Unlike Obama, Palin's office will NOT be above her pay grade.

Posted by: PUMA for Palin | Aug 31, 2008 12:22:19 PM

Has anyone heard Palin stammer and studder?

Posted by: Just Curious | Aug 31, 2008 12:20:53 PM

Jen, "Oh Oh Sarah fans this came out and will be hitting the airways soon. Sarah supposive new baby is really her unmarried daughters and not her own. McCain will be doing a redo soon..."

In case you haven't gotten the instructions from the pods-on-a-vine camp, you are suppose to stay off this story. Picking on an infant and a teenager is not in your best interest, according to the camp leader.

Pretty in keeping with Donna Brazile (Rove wannabe), but this isn't 2000 and it ain't gonna fly this time.

Obama and Biden: Hype and hot air.

McCain and Palin: Proven accomplishments.

Posted by: PUMA for Palin | Aug 31, 2008 12:14:10 PM

"Yea Freida Sarah is change alright...A nice fresh face to take away 30 years of gains for women, and a real possibility of teaching the fables in the bible to our children in schools."

Such scare tactics, such drama, such histrionics. Followers need to stop watching Chrissy and Ogrebermann

As you choose, remember this comparison...

McCain/Palin...free enterprise...

Obama/Biden...socialism...

Anybody But Obama...

Sarah Palin is the best VP pick in the whole history!

McCain/Palin '08!!!

Posted by: Bridget | Aug 31, 2008 11:59:23 AM

Doesn't anyone wonder what Todd Palin, husband of Sarah was doing using the Governors office to pressure Sarah's Brother in Laws superiors to fire the brother in law?

Is he going to use the VP office to get back at some other personal vendetta?

This is the experience we need.

Where the hell is the common sense here?

Posted by: Thinking | Aug 31, 2008 11:58:58 AM

Old Joe Biden...

Perhaps another of Barack Obama's "old uncles" and "spiritual mentors"...

Old Joe Biden represents the reason why John McCain didn't choose "Old Joe Lieberman" or anyone like him...

Governor Palin is a great choice and represents a clear path away from the socialism of Obama/Biden...

Old Joe Biden is just another sore loser from the past...

Anybody But Obama...
