The Obama Campaign's First Impulse...
August 29, 2008 2:52 PM
...was to attack Gov. Palin.
"Today, John McCain put the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency," said Obama spox Bill Burton. "Gov. Palin shares John McCain's commitment to overturning Roe v. Wade, the agenda of Big Oil, and continuing George Bush's failed economic policies -- that's not the change we need, it's just more of the same."
Republicans say it's noteworthy that, on the week commemorating the 88th anniversary of women getting the right to vote -- with McCain, making a groundbreaking VP pick -- the Obama campaign's first response was to attack, not congratulate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, or acknowledge the historic nature of her selection.
It was just yesterday that McCain ran a TV ad congratulating Obama on his historic achievement.
Upon further reflection, Sens. Obama and Biden issued a more carefully considered response:
“We send our congratulations to Gov. Sarah Palin and her family on her designation as the Republican nominee for vice president," said the Democratic ticket in a joint statement. "It is yet another encouraging sign that old barriers are falling in our politics. While we obviously have differences over how best to lead this country forward, Gov. Palin is an admirable person and will add a compelling new voice to this campaign."
The first response Republicans had to the Biden pick, of course, was to attack Obama with Biden's words. Then again, there's nothing particularly historic about picking a white male senator as your running mate.

Obama's twisted logic that merely running for office provides him with the qualifications, experience and credentials to perform in that office, is as laughable as his twisted logic that a whirlwind 9 day, six country, overseas photo op qualifies him as an expert on foreign policy. Obama is an empty suit who is obviously trying to create the illusion that he is something that he is not. If its a choice between an experienced mayor and Governor, with an approval rating of 80% for V.P. versus. a community organizer, and junior senator, who spent most of his time in office running for President ... I choose Palin. No Wright, no Farrakahn, no Ayers, no Rezko, no mean Michelle, NOBAMA
P.S. It's also hunorous how the media is now asking McCain if he vetted Palin, when the media totally dropped the ball in vetting Obama ... that's why we found out after the fact about Wright, Rezko, Ayers, and the rest of the nut jobs closely associated with Obama.

Marie,
The American Idol voter would probably vote for the egotist not Mcain. If you and your husband think your taxes are to highand being spent on BS, imagine what would happen if Barack Hussein Snobama gets into office. They only wayyou are going to lower taxes and end wasteful spending ist to throw out
Pelosi, Reid andtherestof the socialists.

It is interesting that Republicans are far more welcoming of a FEMALE choice than the so called liberal Dems.
Posted by: irma | Aug 30, 2008 6:32:46 PM
A VP without any experience?
At least on her trips to the Middle East she visited the troops.
Obama has 0 experience as the front runner, whereas the VP for the Republicans tops Obama's experience ion 2nd position.
Dems cannot use the experience card in the mix, look at their own sorry story in 1st position.
The power torch Obama wanted so badly has just been passed to a woman.
Obama cannot even bring himself to grant any power of recognition to Palin, just as he couldn't Clinton, who was the popular congealing factor he ignored.
The idea that a woman is just too weak is why this sister of the traveling pantsuits is walking out on the Kennedy
(king of Chappaquiddick) power torch pass to inexperience.
Inexperience that is unable to accept a more powerful and knowledgeable woman as a running mate, is not the right power to seat in the Whitehouse.

People who've had any exposure at all to the day-to-day operations of a large, non-rich family really KNOW that ANY woman who presides over one is PERFECTLY capable, if given the chance, of running the world.
Is this country ANY better off, for example, for the ghastly Biden's "experience in foreign affairs"? Au contraire -- not to mention that years of the "experience" he claims -- and ALL of The CHANGEling's -- have been spent running for president/vice president.

For all of those on here blogging about how Palin is no Hillary, and not as qualified as Hillary.
Yes, you are right.
However, Palin is also at least 16 years younger than Hillary is. So for her age, her level of executive experience is probably higher than Hillary's was at that age, and higher than Obama's presently is, at a few years older than her.
The BIG difference is, she is only running for Vice-President. She is running at the BOTTOM of the ticket, not the top of the ticket like Hillary was. And the bottom of the ticket is also where Obama should have been running, given his level of experience.

How old was JFK whem he was elected? & JFK was on the big screen for Obama.
How old was Teddy R. when he became president? So. Palin is to young?!!
or
McCain is to old but:
Biden has spent more TERMS in the Senate than Obama has YEARS in there.
Another knee-jerk judgement by Obama to answer the most difficult problem at that time--lack of experience.
So, he puts an old white man with many, many years of Senate experience a heart beat away from the presidency.
What will be the next knee-jerk reaction to the selection of Gov. Palin, who, of the 4, has the most executive experience--(committee chairman requires a PHD in how to delay progress)--guess a point could be made that active duty military experience requires executive action so McCain comes in second.
BUT--HEY! That is the way the pundits talk!
Listen to what is said, how it is said & Palin comes over (to me) as a real person running for RIGHT vs the others that are willing to try anything to get the POWER. Also, she did not have to ware a pants-suit to try to fit into the good-ole-BOY club.
Obama's celebrities he hangs with are on food-stamps----poor Oprah! Without her he would likely be watching from the sidelines. Since the only clain to fame Obama has is his paternal ancestory--DOES THAT MAKE OPRAH A RACIST
or just a mistake for her?

If any one knows how an 18 month Governor of a state with a population of only 630,000 (which would make it the 17th most populous CITY in the United States),
who thinks creationism should be taught in schools,
who went to the prestigious University of Idaho,
who had met McCain only ONCE before yesterday,
who believes that drilling in the ANWR is the way to solve our oil dependency,
is even remotely qualified to be Vice President (behind a 72 year old man with cancer) please, let me know...

Who are we voting for?? Let's not forget...OHAMA is running for President,
Palin for Vice-President. Now, who do we want with more experience? Hum..........Maybe we should look at this as 'on-the-job training'. After all, what does the VP do? Not much. This sure will get the Clintons out of the picture if the republicans win. Mrs. Palin just might be the next President and not a dadblamed Clinton. We have had enough of that bunch.
As far as Ms. Hutchison, I am a Texan and I think she is stupid. Guess you don't know that she adopted a baby a few years ago.....and what does she do with it when she is in Washington?
This Lady will bring some class to DC, something the other party cannot do.
Even though OHama wears expensive
suits I cannot see him in anything other than a basketball uniform!!!!!

How can Obama completely leave out that Palin is the Governor of one of our 50 states?
Calling Palin the Mayor of a town or 9,000 people is like calling Obama a community organizer.
Palin has more executive experience then both Biden and Obama combined.
This democrat will vote for McCain/Palin in 08!

Can you please explain (a) what Obama did that was "savage", and (b) how Obama does not "care" about "the drilling issue"?
Regarding (a): You do realize that it is a customary (and perfectly acceptable) part of elections to point out the positions your opponent takes with which you disagree?
Regarding (b): You do know that (at least so far) McCain opposes drilling in ANWR? Plenty of other reasonable people do, too. Perhaps you need to explain what exactly "the drilling issue" is, and how Obama "cares nothing" about it, because I am not following.

Apparently the "Republican trap" is to treat Sarah Palin and all women as weaklings who can't defend themelves. This is insulting to women and insulting to Americans.
If the McCain strategy is to treat Sarah Palin as a prop to drag out whenever they want to generate sympathy, that will fail. I'm glad that she's a mother of five children, but Vladimir Putin isn't going to be soft on her because of that.

Obama has played right into the smart GOP trap.
It isn't enough that his campaign is alienating Alaskans, citizens of small towns nationwide, and women who are both mothers and who are successful at a career.
But by being so savage to the GOVERNOR of ALASKA (the state in which the most oil drilling will occur) Obama reveals that even if he is elected President, he cares nothing about the drilling issue or the people of Alask. He fails to comprehend how his campaign's insults will affect the drilling issue in the years to come.

So Palin can't be the VP because she is only the Gov. or Alaska?
Put Bill Clinton was ok to be POTUS and he was only the Gov. or ARKANSAS?
Barack/Biden have been exposed for the worthless political hacks that they are. They are members of the Dem. Congress that has the lowest approval rating of all time.
The Liberals are now upset because McCain picked a true All American Woman to be his running mate. How come Republican ladies are so much better looking than Democrap babes?
McCain will destroy Obama in the POTUS debates, no teleprompters for Barack.
Palin will destroy Biden because he is just a bully, and Palin will not back down and will end of humiliating the hair plugged one.

As a Hillary Supporter, I'm not laughing at the choice that McCain made. I take these things very seriously. How smug of you to think that Hillary supporters will not seriously consider Palin as the right choice for McCain after seeing her credentials. If anything, we're laughing at the "institution" that Obama put as his running mate.

can any intelligent republican really tell me why this is a great choice?!!! i just don’t see how this pick is really viable. she has a B.A. in Journalism and a MINOR in Political Science. She actually has 1 and 1/2 of govenor experience of a small town(ok state)called Alaska…the evangelicals are applauding while the Hillary supporters and the rest to the dems are laughing…is john Mccain serious??!!!

"Alan like many rightwingers before him has issues with the truth
1. Palin has more experience than Obama
1 1/2 years as Gov of small state vs 3 1/2 a US Senator. 6 years a mayor of small town vs 8 years as IL state Senator."
Of course, take away 2 years of Obama's senator time for his presidential campaigning and we're left with 1 1/2 years of Senatorial experience. Of course the big one here is:
Executive experience: Palin 7 1/2 years vs. Obama 0 years.
And let's be honest, what will be more effective: Obama-Biden saying we need to pull out by 2011 and McCain-Palin disagree, or Palin saying she has a son who will serve in Iraq come Sept. and while she is proud of him and wants him to come home, she also wants him to come home with all American soldiers after victory has been achieved.
Plus Palin has been to Iraq and her wiki page has a photo of her at a German military hospital visiting wounded troops. Something Sen. Obama couldn't fit into his busy schedule of campaigning and pandering.
Lastly, even if you want to credit his state senator and his full senate term, Obama has only 3 years more political experience on Palin. Difference? One's the top of the ticket, the other's the bottom.
Posted by: hockeymom | Aug 29, 2008 10:40:09 PM
A BRILLIANT pick by McCain. She has far more experience and is far more qualified than Obama. Obama shows what a classless bitter loser he is. Obama has never accomplished anything.
Posted by: Obama Lover | Aug 29, 2008 9:50:58 PM
When I first heard that McCain would choose Palin I was outraged. But when I learned a bit about her history and what she had accomplished in the past, she became the right person for me to support the Ticket as VP. I was a Hillary supporter, and for me Palin is the right choice to make me vote for McCain. She has more experience than Obama, and she's the VP candidate. OBama has no experience, yet he's the Presidential candidate. DO the Obama supporters know the meaning of hypocrisy when the say that she has little experience and is a heart-beat away from the presidency? Wait a sec., isn't your candidate Obama, less experienced than Palin, and yet he's at the top of the ticket. Here comes the Obama teams rearing it's ugly sexist head again. Hillary supporters will not forget what Obama did to her, and we are going to vote McCain/Palin '08. And I'll still vote Hillary '2012.

Wow Davis, Could you be wrong about anything else? Lets see:
1. She was mayor of Wasilla AK, not Juno(which is spelled wrong by the way, it's Juneau. Juneau is the capitol of AK, in case you haven't figured that part out.)
2.Wasillia probably doesn't see much tourism from the cruise ships either. Since it isn't on the coast. It's a couple miles inland and north of Anchorage.
3. Alaska isn't the least populous state in the country. (Vermont is in case you were wondering)
And since Alaska amount of "backwardness" is totally your opinion we can count that as wrong too.
Thanks for playing. Please come again.

Tina, Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison said some time ago, "...that my sights were a different place and I did not want to be considered.” Apparently she is contemplating a run for governor of Texas in 2010. As for Dr. Condoleezza Rice, she was very adamant that she had no interest in running for public office (I personally wish she had run for president). She can't wait to go back to Stanford University; and plans to write a book.
The Democrats are all hot and bothered over Gov. Palin because the Democrats are poised to possibly have a 12-seat, or more, majority in the Senate in January yet could end up with a Republican woman as President of the Senate.
Posted by: James Danley | Aug 29, 2008 8:44:49 PM
No geevill,
I'm am definitely not an "Obamabot." I've never voted for a democrat in my life and never will.
I'm sorry that you grossly misinterpretted what I was saying, so I will simplify it. I am not happy with Palin as McCain's pick. Just because I don't like Palin, and I prefer Rice and Hutchinson, DOES NOT make me a Democrat. I think for those of us conservatives who actaully care about who's in charge of the country think that Palin is a big '?'.
My point of bringing up Pawlenty, Ridge, and Romney was to illustrate that Palin is still very much an up-and-comer in the party. She has a short track record. While there is nothing superficially wrong with her, I think that in the long-run she'll be a weak VP.
A lot of conservatives are basically saying, "Oh cool. I've never heard of Palin before but I like what I justread about her today." Honestly geevill, could you have told me a thing about her before this morning? As I said before, I think she is a fine leader, for the state of Alaska. However, if McCain were to tap Romney as his VP pick I think that most of us would be much happier and wouldn't bat an eyelash at Palin being over-looked.
Posted by: Tina | Aug 29, 2008 8:38:37 PM
No Tina,
you obammabots would of been saying MCCain picked another rich white male out of touch with "kitchen table" issues.
How come nobody has asked how many houses Sarah Palin owns?
Posted by: geevill | Aug 29, 2008 8:14:23 PM
I like to wonder what peoples' reactions would have been if McCain had opted for Romney, Pawlenty or Ridge. How many people would have said, "Well that was stupid of McCain to pass on Sarah Palin." I suspect that the number would have been relatively small.
While it is no surprise that McCain chose a female as his running mate, since he has expressed the desire to do so on several occassions, I wonder why he chose Palin over Kay Bailey Hutchinson or Condolizza Rice.
Palin is a "neat" pick because she is young and stood up against members of her own party. However, I can't really imagine her leading the U.S. out of Iraq, nor her standing up to China and Russia. I really think the Russians will view her as a joke.
I do not, in any way, think that Palin is a bad leader. I think she has been great for the state of Alaska. She uprooted plenty of corruption from the state. But I wonder how her experience in Alaska is even remotely relevant to leading the other 49 states? Rice and Hutchinson have far more relevant experience.
I'm worried that McCain has sold the American people short on a VP in order to put distance between himself and the Bush administration. But I'm even more concerned that this is a hint of McCain
s desire to begin to pull away from the Republican party in general.
Posted by: Tina | Aug 29, 2008 8:03:51 PM
Hey Davis, you guys are soooo screwed. American won't fight their Moms. Not even for Obama. Bring out your thugs. Mom will bring cookies.

I love this. It's the single smartest most savvy move I've seen in this election. In day, to completely and irrevocably change the emotional dynamic of a nation from one of awe to one of humor and in so doing to unhorse the most smug candidate that ever ran.
This is just sooooo cool.

Obama missed only 11 votes in the 109th session of Congress. He has missed 45% of the current session.
In comparison McCain missed 65 votes in the 109th and has missed 63% so far this session.
We face grave challenges as a nation both at home and abroad and McCain picks someone with zero foreign policy experience and scant public office experience.

Thinkerton,
It doesn't matter if its true or not. Thru rote reptition the right wing hopes their lies grow.
Their meme is that she has more executive experience that Obama or Biden.
Well she has more executive experience than McCain too.
But her experience in reality is being mayor of a small town for a few years (before which she was on the town council) and being in the 2nd year of her 1st term for statewide office.

Alan like many rightwingers before him has issues with the truth
1. Palin has more experience than Obama
11/2 years as Gov of small state vs 3 1/2 a US Senator. 6 years a mayor of small town vs 8 years as IL state Senator.
"2. Why do you assume he only picked her because she is a woman - what facts to you have to base that on? (ie. you can't use inexperience or else you subvert your own candidate)"
Um it was the McCain campaign making great issue of Obama's experience. By selecting an inexperienced running mate they have removed that weapon from their hands. Their only hope is splitting the women vote.
"3. Who is opposed to equal pay for equal work? That battle was fought and won."
John McCain just voiced his opposition to an equal pay bill this last April. He of course did not bother to actually vote on it.
Posted by: Ryan C | Aug 29, 2008 7:43:48 PM
Where is this "Palin has more experience than Obama" meme coming from? It's ridiculous on its face.
Eight years in the state senate, working on real legislation to make people's lives better. Sponsoring a ton of great BIPARTISAN legislation in the U.S. Senate on important issues like nuclear nonproliferation, pandemic flu preparedness, and government transparency and ethics reform. He's on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee (just to name one) where he has no doubt been confronted with a lot of serious issues which are important to every American. I don't think any legislator who has actually worked with him has not been impressed with his ability to understand issues and bring people together to actually get things done.
He has now been LEADING a very effective presidential campaign, which has certainly shown him to be an effective leader. (Compare to Clinton's campaign, which suffered from a serious lack of leadership and organization.)
You can talk about the specifics of what Obama has done, and how he compares to McCain, that's all well and good... but to say he has "no experience" or that Palin is more experienced -- I just don't get it.

McCain, with his VP selection, has not only energized the Republican Party, but he has also pulled a lot of Hillary Supporters into his camp.
I would have loved to have seen Pelosi, Dean, Brazile, Obama and Axlerod faces this morning when they found out the news.
Chris Matthews is worried about the PUMAs. Hmmmm, last week he called us whacked out nutjobs. :D
Hillary is probably somewhere laughing!
First, the Old Master cleaned Obama's clock Live at the Forum, today, he ate Obama's lunch. ROFLMAO!!!
PUMA!

Palin told a Republican Senator to take his $40 Million bridge to nowhere and stuff it. Obama and Ayres squandered $100 million that was supposed to improve education in Chicago.

beck, et al....
1. Palin has more experience than Obama
2. Why do you assume he only picked her because she is a woman - what facts to you have to base that on? (ie. you can't use inexperience or else you subvert your own candidate)
3. Who is opposed to equal pay for equal work? That battle was fought and won.
Frankly, how sexist of you to assume someone who is Republican cannot represent women. That's like saying McCain doesn't represent men because he doesn't believe in socialism.

I see so much ego involved in this discussion... It's a very sad picture you people are painting here!
Is it not for future generations/ your children you set the signals for in this (every) election???
And still too many of you speak out of hurt ego! Do you really think your children care in 20 years if it was a Obama or a Clinton who made the right changes???????

"Why was Kayne of Virginia considered and vetted for the Obama VP pick? Wasn't he too inexperienced? NO?"
Q099,
Obama didn't pick Kaine for that reason... It was a matter of Judgment.
However, McBush DID pick Palin with ZERO EXPERIENCE! A complete failure of judgment!
GAME OVER REPUBLICANS....
Can you say President BARACK OBAMA??
Posted by: Davis | Aug 29, 2008 6:33:21 PM
Why was Kayne of Virginia considered and vetted for the Obama VP pick? Wasn't he too inexperienced? NO?
He was elected Gov. the same time as Palin. They have exactly the same experience as an executive. But Obama's spokesman says she doesn't have the experience.
Obama is a sexist. Hillary learned that lesson the hard way.
Posted by: Q099 | Aug 29, 2008 6:24:42 PM
The Republicans are all over the TV in force talking about Palin's experience!
The PTA and the city counsel of Juno Alaska (pop 9,000 during the summer when all the cruise ships are rolling in that is), that's where Palin got most of her executive experience from...
She also says she was a journalist to, a sportscaster! More executive experience!
And don't forget 20 months as Governor of Alaska, the most backward and least populous state in the Nation!
Great pick McBush! Way better than Romney, Ridge or Lieberman!!!!!!!
She is a real FOX to John, we always knew you had an eye for the ladies!!!!
GAME OVER REPUBLICANS!!

After watching the acceptance speech by Obama last night and Pulin's acceptance speech today, I have one comment I'd like to make to Michelle,
In my whole life, I have never been prouder to be a Republican.
PS: I love the bear rug on the back of the couch in the govenors office. I wonder if she shot it herself.

Let's see, Obama served on the Illinois Senate where his voting record mostly consisted of him saying "Present", instead of taking a yes or no stand.
Obama has never managed anything on the executive level in his life. So what if the town that Palin was Mayor of had only 9,000 citizens. That's 9,000 more people than Obama has ever managed. Let alone an entire state.
Palin is a Governor fighting corruption, especially in her own party. Obama has served in the US Senate and done nothing except run for President. He is constantly caught in lies as he tries to build up his non-existant resume of accomplishments.
I will give Obama credit for one thing. He reads a mean teleprompter. For 27% of the country that is more than enough reason to vote for him.

ahh, but Ryan,
she was PRESENT during her the time of her reigns as coucil woman, mayor, and governor.......
she wasn't "pushing Palin"... or just VOTING present!
Give credit where credit is due!

If Palin is elected we will have
a VP that wears a dress. Now that
sounds just as shallow as some of
the other reasons out there. I am
not in favor of a woman in this
office. Other countries hate women, but we continue to send them to negotiate.
At least she is not a Clinton...I am sick of those folks.

"Same goes for Republicans screaming over and over that Obama has no experience."
- He doesnt. And he's at the top of the ticket.
"Suddenly the same Republicans have no problem with a VP not even finishing their 2nd year of their 1st term in statewide office."
- Experienced Mayor and Governor. At least 2 more years then Obama AND at the VP slot, not the top of the ticket.
"RW hypocrisy knows no bounds"
- Correction, LW idiocy, knows no bounds.

PLIN IS NOW ON C-SPAN RIGHT NOW GIVING AN INTERVIEW!
Wow what a policy WONK! She knows all about the PTA and the current events in Juno! Dog sled races and everything!
She is telling us all about in her words "her backwards state with no infrastructure." Also how the only industry there is the raping and pillaging of Natural Resources, like timber and oil...
Also she is just like McBush, she wants to drill here, drill there, drill everywhere!! Now I see why he chose her!!!
You know when she looks straight into the camera, you can see that she has really beautiful eyes as well, too bad they are kind of crossed like that...
She is certainly a FOX, I will give you that McCain - you do have an eye for the ladies!
GAME OVER REPUBLICANS!!!

There is nothing historical about picking a woman for VP either. Remember, Mondale did it in '84.. and this will work out about the same!!
Posted by: Bryan | Aug 29, 2008 5:48:34 PM
Hey, the simple fact is that this woman has more Executive experience than the three other candidates combined.
Posted by: oldspice | Aug 29, 2008 5:47:58 PM
You get it Regi! Exactly right!
Go McCain/Palin!!!
Posted by: Andy | Aug 29, 2008 5:45:30 PM
I've read all the comments. I left the democrat party in 1998 because of the hypocrisy over Clinton ("if our guy does it, it's okay...") I see I was correct. Nothing has changed. You people are selectively sexist (Palin) and selectively racist (Colin Powell) and use the "if you don't agree with us, you're stupid" argument far too often.
Posted by: jen | Aug 29, 2008 5:43:16 PM
For those of you who feel that Sen. McCain's selection of Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate is a slap in the face of Sen. Clinton, ask yourself which is worse: Sen. McCain actually selecting a woman to be on his ticket; OR Sen. Obama not even vetting Sen. Clinton?

"No wonder the liberals are already on a smear roll. Guess what? You can not have it both ways. After saying for so long that experience didn't matter when it came to your PRESIDENTIAL candidate (who has none), now suddenly it became important with the pick of the republican VP candidate. I hope you keep up that argument, because it's the one you will not win."

One person that must be totally devastated today is Hillary. Her hopes for 2012 just went out the window. This was a brilliant and far reaching chess move on McCain's part.

I was shocked to see Ms. Palin on
stage wearing a DRESS! I bet all the
libs will dis her for wearing such
tacky attire....I mean, Hillary taught
us that a dress is passe. I'm dying
to see Palin in a neon pantsuit, the
only legitimate garb for a political
woman.
Posted by: grizzly bare | Aug 29, 2008 5:37:42 PM
Again another math lesson for right wingers then a bio comparison.
Big stage:
Obama - sworn into US Senate on Jan 1st 2005. (that's 3 and 1/2 years)
Palin - sworn in as Governor on Dec 4th 2006. (that's 1 3/4 years)
The stepping stone:
Obama - 8 years a Illinois state senator
Palin - 6 years as mayor of a small town. 4 years on that town's council.
The education:
Obama - graduated Columbia with a BA in polisci/international relations focus, Harvard law school graduate, Harvard Law Review editor.
Palin - BA in journo from Univ of Idaho.
Other jobs:
Obama - community organizer registering people to vote. Before that he worked at a law firm.
Palin - Sports broadcaster

I JUST WATCHED PALIN'S ACCEPTANCE SPEECH ON C-SPAN...
First what a JOKE, there were "maybe" only a thousand people there if that!!!
I listened to her whole speech and I didn't know that her "executive experience" consisted of being a member off the PTA, being a team mom, a member of the city counsel of Juno (9,000 people) and then Governor of one of the least populist states for less that two years (about 18 months).
Also WOW what a powerful speech and speaker! I thought I was sitting at my daughters elementary school PTA meeting!! I was really impressed!!
Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!!!!!!!!!!
McCain just committed political suicide!
GAME OVER FOR REPUBLICANS.......
SAY HELLO TO PRESIDENT OBAMA!!!!!!!!

What a choice!!! A smart, eloquent, gutsy, beautiful woman. A real person!
No wonder the liberals are already on a smear roll. Guess what? You can not have it both ways. After saying for so long that experience didn't matter when it came to your PRESIDENTIAL candidate (who has none), now suddenly it became important with the pick of the republican VP candidate. I suspected all along that Barack Hussein was unelectable. Now I am fully convinced of it.
Truly this is Change We Can Believe In!!!

Ryan C., you wrote: "Much like a garbage man calls himself a sanitation engineer."
WRONG! The Constitution of the State of Alaska, Article III states, in part: "The governor is commander-in-chief of the armed forces of the State. He may call out these forces to execute the laws, suppress or prevent insurrection or lawless violence, or repel invasion. The governor, as provided by law, shall appoint all general and flag officers of the armed forces of the State, subject to confirmation by a majority of the members of the legislature in joint session. He shall appoint and commission all other officers."
So the Alaska State Constitution specifically identifies their governor as commander-in-chief of their armed forces (National Guard).
