This Sunday on This Week
August 07, 2008 12:24 PM
With George Stephanopoulos taking a rare and well-deserved vacation this week, the task of anchoring his show this Sunday -- This Week with George Stephanopoulos -- has somehow fallen into my hands.
We have some great guests. I can't think of two pols with whom I'd rather talk about energy and politics than Louisiana's GOP Gov. Bobby Jindal and New Mexico's Gov. Bill Richardson.
We also have a great roundtable including George F. Will, Cokie Roberts, Torie Clarke, and Matt Bai, who has an interesting cover story about race and politics in this Sunday's New York Times Magazine.
So be gentle with your post-show criticisms and hope you tune in!

Congratulations--I hope everything goes well--sounds like a great show.

Good luck Jake on Sunday, I don't always agree with your posts but I don't think you are in the tank for either canidate (very rare these days) so this should be fun on Sunday. Could you please try and ask question of the two Govs. that other anchors wouldn't dare to ask!!

Great Jake! I'll be tuning in.

This column is the only one that doesn't make me incredibly angry when I read it. Tough when it needs to be, but generally fair. Good luck on Sunday - it will be the first time I've ever tuned into the show.

Congrats, Jake, from all of us at Disnye news to you.

by the way, what has george done to deserve a break?
how hard is it to come up with questions about patriotism, and lapel pins.

Congratulations Jake and good luck!

let's hope you don't suck up to the republicans like george does.

Jake, this time don't start the race discussion by talking about your vigilance and other defensive tactics that showed your guilt when nobody was criticizing you as you did last week.
Most perps do not deny things before they are even accused.

It doesn't matter if we are nice or not in out comments, since anything critical of you will censored or removed altogether...much like this post.
Ahhh, so goes the first amendment.

Gov. Bobby Jihdal will be worth watching and should provide interesting insight into important issues.
Bill Richardson has proven to be no more than a back-stabbing, double-talking politician who cannot be trusted.
With that in maind, Richardson would probably make a good running mate for Obama...

I will be watching, Jake. Don't let me down - be fair and balanced.

Jake
Best of luck hosting the show. If you host half as good as you write you will be a huge success. Already set my DVR

Good Luck Jake!
You do a great job of vetting both candidates. Something the MSM is afraid of.
Posted by: riley | Aug 7, 2008 1:07:31 PM
Great Jake, lets have another show talking about 'RACE'. Please tell me how this helps my gas tank?
Posted by: Peg | Aug 7, 2008 1:00:42 PM
Jake, please ask the tough questions to both Jindal and Richardson.
You're a rising star. Keep up the good work.

Food for Thought
George Stephanopoulos always gives his "take" on issues. Perhaps he should talk about the flip-flop that Obama made since he thinks he is the nominee and he recently said to let Michigan and Florida now have their full votes----should he flip-flop again and say no because Ms. Clinton might be on the ballot now?
Posted by: Mike | Aug 7, 2008 12:59:23 PM
Jake, please ask Richardson if his payoff from Obama was worth it, now that we all have proof of what a complete fraud he is.

Another "fair and balanced" round table from ABC News. Three conservatives and Matt Bai.
What, Charlie "Brit Hume" Gibson couldn't make it?
And then there's JT to talk about Obama "smearing" McCain for daring to say, "They're going to try and make you scared of me". With the news today of the leaked McCain campaign memo of the intent to "paint Obama as a job-killing machine", perhaps that "smear" conceit will be harder to sell.
Oh well, if anyone can pull it off, it's ABC News.

I doubt if Jake would ask Jindal about his attendance at an exorcism, which I think he described in a recently released book. Jindal's experience may make him a good running mate for McCain given how Faustian his campaign is going.

I have the greatest respect for Bill Richardson. It is a free country to vote for whom you wish. Isn't this why the men and women in uniform have given their lifes, so we can have the FREEDOM to vote for the person we think will be best for our country. Not bullied into giving someone your vote because they think you owe it to them, and if you don't they try to make your life miserable.
Martin get a clue..

Aha! Told you so!
Break a leg, Jake. We'll be watching.

I completely lost all respect for Bill Richardson after he sided with Obama. Also his stance on illegal immigration is not what Americans want.
