"This Week" this week
August 10, 2008 8:33 PM
While Mr. Stephanopoulos is taking a rare and well-deserved vacation, I did my best to fill in at the host's chair on This Week.
We interviewed Gov. Bill Richardson, D-NM, as well as Gov. Bobby Jindal, R-La.. We had a lively roundtable with George Will, Cokie Roberts, Torie Clarke, and Matt Bai.
Of course we had in memorium and the Sunday funnies.
And in the Green Room after the show, my baby daughter Alice had some thoughts on the great debates.
Video can be watched at the links above. Hope you enjoyed it; George will be back in his chair next week.

Cokie Roberts is an idiot.

Cokie Roberts was appalling. Who does she think she is to tell Obama when and where to take a vacation. Does anyone think Obama is taking a "real" vacation where he turns off the rest of the world?
It is not Obama or McCain's job to respond to the Russia/Georgia issue. The most ironic thing - George W Bush was in China.
Later she is doing what a large percent to the media does - Obama has not proved his ability to be Pres.
McCain has proved he does not have the ability because he lies non-stop and has not accomplished anything major. He was wrong about starting the Iraq war, but says he would have done the same thing even knowing what he knows now. McCain is scary. He loves war.
Obama has more or the same experience than
Abraham Lincoln
Federal Years = 2 State Experience - 8 Total = 10 Rating = 2
Theodore Roosevelt
Federal Years = 2 State Experience - 4 Total = 8 Rating = 5
Ronald Regan
Federal Years = 0 State Experience - 8 Total = 8 Rating = 8
Dwight D. Eisenhower
Federal Years = 0 State Experience - 0 Total = 0 Rating = 9

Cokie Roberts is the absolute worst. Why do you give her a platform to spout her GOP talking points. "Hawaii is too foreign"?? Give me a break!

So you round table consists of 2 conservatives and 2 straight journalists. Why no actual liberals?

albert,
Russia decided to invade Georgia just when Obama left for a well-deserved vacation. It's called bad timing. But Obama is not president yet. That would be the guy doing photo ops in China and being totally out of sync with what's going on in the world, just like he was when Katrina hit.

Congratulations Jake. I haven't watched the video yet. I'm sure you hit it out of the park. Can't wait to watch.

This Russian attack has made me realize that I can't vote for Obama. I don't want to have someone pretending to be president while we are dealing with a superpower like Russia.
Dem for McCain

I have to say that Bill Richardson is a joke. He is like an Obama drone. He doesn't even seem like he thinks for himself. Everything he says is so scripted.

I was impressed with you. Mind you, my opinion does not matter. I thought you were great even though I was ready not to like you at all. I was really surprised at how you were handling everything. Then you came out with the comment about Richardson BADMOUTHING McCain.
Badmouthing? ... lol
Guess you could not keep your biased opinion even out of there uh.
Shakes head.

Jake, you did a really good job in the big chair. I congratulate you!

The small nations of the world have always looked to the United States for Protection and assistance.
knowing full well that nations like Russia, communist China, Iran, North Korean and a few other nations, are not trustworthy at all.
Yes You try Dipolmacy, and the UN but if you do not stay the cutting edge above them. If America wimps out to them. If they open their can of Whoop-@ss on the world we are all doomed.
Evidence is in the facts. If Mr Obama is naive, foolish and gulible enough to think otherwise. Americas days will be numbered.
Obama is the weakest link.

Gov. Jindal did a good job of talking out of both sides of his mouth. Let's see, he voteed for the Bush energy bill for all the "right reasons" but Senator Obama voted for it for all the "wrong reasons". And Louisiana doesn't have much of an interest in helping the oil industry - one of its largest employeer. Could he be a bigger hypocrite.

Yes, Kerry is a terrible interviewee. He is way too hesitant and allows others to dominate the discussion.
Posted by: irma | Aug 11, 2008 12:30:40 AM
woops--I meant Kerry was terrible on Meet the Press last week. Obama needs some better surrogates for these kinds of shows.
Posted by: Danny | Aug 11, 2008 12:19:26 AM
I agree that Richardson was terrible. Kerry was also awful on MTP the next week. I liked Bobby Jindal, though. You asked both guests some great questions., and your tie was pretty neat!

Jake,
Cute, adorable Alice.

Jake; why isn't ABC showing Hillary's speech to the Obama/Clinton supporters in Nevada on video? Or why are they preventing this question from being posted on the headlines blog, even though I've posted other questions to Hillary's support of Obama?

Jake you did a better job than the Obama loving Mr. Stephanopoulos.
Posted by: randy | Aug 10, 2008 11:16:56 PM
Jake, send the tape to Meet the Press. they would have a hard time finding a better host.

Cute kid and she smiled at Cokie.
