Barack 'Isotoner' Obama to Take Off His Third or Fourth Pair of Gloves and Get Tough
September 12, 2008 7:11 AM
Like any number of Democratic candidates before him -- Mike Dukakis, Al Gore, John Kerry -- Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., is once again declaring that he is going to take off the gloves and fight back against attacks from the Republican Party.
This is what you're going to hear from his campaign today, anyway, which is unveiling two new TV ads, including this attack ad against Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.
But just so you know -- this is, by my count, the 4th time Obama's campaign has officially or unofficially made such a declaration that Obama will "take off the gloves" and fight back.
That's a lot of pairs of gloves.
The Isotoner campaign, one might say.
Another part of today's claim is that the Democrat is going to aggressively claim the "change" mantle.
As part of this -- the staggeringly fresh assertion that McCain has voted with President Bush 90 percent of the time, a factoid Obama has only made 7,000 times before.
Today will also be, per the Obama campaign, the first day of the home stretch. This will be, to my count, at least the second time the Obama campaign has decreed such a new beginning, perhaps even the third.
Obama campaign manager David Plouffe lays this all out in a memo called "Heading into the Final Stretch" today, saying that "Obama said earlier this week 'enough is enough.' This election is too important and the challenges too big to spend the next 54 days talking about trivial non-issues. Today is the first day of the rest of the campaign."
Continues Plouffe, "We will respond with speed and ferocity to John McCain’s attacks and we will take the fight to him, but we will do it on the big issues that matter to the American people. We will not allow John McCain and his band of Karl Rove disciples to make this big election about small things."

I do not understand why McCain's age is such an enormous issue. Tomorrow is not promised to anyone. That includes young presidential candidates such as Senator Obama (a smoker). The reality is that McCain does not need to know how to e-mail. He needs to know what is right for the country and this is what I believe should qualify him to be our next president.

Oh, by the way jake. I love the "Barack Isotoner Obama". Brillant.

The two richest senators are Democrats. Guess Whom the richest is. SENATOR KERRY! LOL yes Kerry is richer than McCain way richer.

McCain doesn't use a computer because of his injuries as a POW, making typing and bending of his arms painful. Talk about mud-slinging of the lowest order, making fun of a disability...

Obama attacks John McCain saying he is out of touch, doesn't know how to use the computer or send an email..and his would be genius spokeman Dan pheiffer is quoted as saying.."Our economy wouldn't survive without the Internet, and cyber-security continues to represent one our most serious national security threats," Pfeiffer said. "It's extraordinary that someone who wants to be our president and our commander in chief doesn't know how to send an e-mail." The more I listen to Obama and his "Einsteins" like David Axelrod and Dan pfeiffer the more I am convinced that they know they are losing and losing bad. Their comments are from pure desperation. Had they done a bit of homework instead of shooting from the hip as pfeiffer confirmed with another tell tale desperado quote.."We will respond with speed and ferocity to John McCain's attacks and we will take the fight to him, but we will do it on the big issues that matter to the American people."..they would have known that a man that is very much In Touch (as John McCain surely is) with what is going on in the world, and particularly the economey also does not use a computer or send emails..and he happens to be the richest man on the Planet! Warren Buffett!!

McCain's ads were insulting and humiliating to Paris, and made statements that were not accurate. But republicans called it funny and said Obama supporters lack a sense of humor.
Well, ha ha ha, McCain's in Washington too long and out of touch, funny funny joke joke wink wink.
Republicans cry foul.
Now who lacks a sense of humor?

Sadly I've come to the conclusion that the Obama crew will lose this race because they hav eno spine. they talk a good game of getting tough but never deliver. If the last ads released or the campaign stump speeches are their idea of being tough we can throw in the towel and say millions of donated dollars were just flushed down the drain. I am coming to believe the hype about Obama's arrogance in doing things his way or no way. He's losing this race big time and yet he holds to the same drill on the campaign trail. Can't someone shake these guys up!

Let's see Obama's "new" politics:
Speechmaker Obama talks about an era of bipartisanship, He speaks powerfully about the destructive politics of red and blue states.
Politician Obama has toed his party's line more reliably than almost any other Democrat in US politics. He has a near-perfect record of voting with his side. He has the most solidly left-wing voting history in the Senate. His one act of bipartisanship, a transparency bill co-sponsored with a Republican senator, was backed by everybody on both sides of the aisle. He has never challenged his party's line on any issue of substance.
Speechmaker Obama talks a lot about finding ways to move beyond the bloody battlegrounds of the “culture wars” in America; the urgent need to establish consensus on the emotive issue of abortion.
Politician Obama's support for abortion rights is the most extreme of any Democratic senator. In the Illinois legislature he refused to join Democrats and Republicans in supporting a Bill that would require doctors to provide medical care for babies who survived abortions. No one in the Senate - not the arch feminist Hillary Clinton nor the superliberal Edward Kennedy - opposed this same humane measure.

Exactly, this is so ironic, exception the truth is that Obama is just too trendy for himself, notwithstanding his retro-70s pants and shirts.

It's nice to know that Obama & Co. plan to respond with speed and ferocity...rather than just doing it. Talk is cheap.

John McCain has be attacking Barack Obama since the day Barack Obama won the primary. It has been negative ads and more negative ads put out almost daily by the McCain campaign!!
John McCain and his disgusting campaign which is run by sleazy Carl Rove, and his disgusting evil, corrupt friends, has been putting out republican ads full of lies, lies, and more lies.
THE FACTS ARE:
- It is John McCain himself who told reporters that he, cannot use a computer!!
- It is John McCain himself who said in a debate during the republican primary that he does not know alot about the economy!
- It is John McCain who has for the past 20 years has voted AGAINST alternative. John McCain has voted AGAINST every single effort made over the past 20 years to get America off foreign oil.
- It is John McCain who claims he will clean up Washington , BUT RIGHT NOW John McCain has at least 9 lobbyists running his campaign. Why does John McCain have lobbyists running his campaign.
The fact is John McCain IS OUT OF TOUCH!!!
John McCain's own daughter call him OLD!!

Young man like Barack needs to learn a lesson of respect. Cocky, arrogant, yet empty in action. Elect a leader who is a man or woman of record and action.

"McCain's severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes."(boston globe) and "because of his war injuries, he is limited in his ability to wield a keyboard."--- shows how out of touch he is... if this was actually true, he'd know that voice recognition has come a remarkable distance in useability, touchscreens and many other technologies avaiable - just ask Richard Hawkings (I think he's just a bit more physically challenged). However, as McCain seems to be able to point, move his hands and fingers, wave all day long and use a knife and fork, I think the excuse is just an excuse and justification for being so behind.

Who are these candidates?
What ruse will they wear today?
Why can't we get any credible candidates?
Everything they do is to play on the psyche of potential voters.
They have very little actionable substance.
To date I have never known a president that can actually legislate.
For some naïve reason these candidates tout what legislation they will have power over. The only power he has is the laws the other two branches of government give the presidency to use.
Congress gave authority to Bush to go into Iraq. This was something he could not legally do himself. The intelligence committees failed the American people.
So if you want real change throw the rascals in congress out.
These candidates should be touting how they will honor and uphold the law.
The campaign ads only illustrate how good they will be in finding loopholes.

First lipstick on a pig and now he is making fun of a disabled vet and POW.

I'll point at the cripple and laugh at him. Yea, um um uh, cause he can't use a computer keyboard and has to have his wife type for him. HAHAha...

Lot's of union job's with drilling, refining and transportation. Union jobs that will let a family have a house and some cars and kids and a life.
What does Obama have? Retraining? I don't want to sit behind a desk I want to work. I like to work. Drilling jobs can not be done by some kid in Bangladesh can they. I want a real job and McCain is my only hope to get real jobs back in America.

Liberals on this board are whining about Karl Rove, while their candidates camp, run by Axelrod, and the dirty Soros have literally gotten a free pass throughout most of this race, despite the many questionable antics, and associates of Obama. MSNBC political page features 5 negative headlines about Sarah Palin. CBS CNN no better. NY Times disgusting. They are relentless turning over every rock in search of anything, yet sweeping obamas dirt under the carpet.

Obama the liar! I'm so surprised! 20 years in a bigoted church yet breaks from it six month ago....
Last week he wasn't going to take our guns...he loves them now. Yet he's never voted pro second amendment...ever!!!
"Chairman of the Senate Telecommunications Subcommittee and regarded as the U.S. Senate's savviest technologist, McCain is an inveterate devotee of email. His nightly ritual is to read his email together with his wife, Cindy. The injuries he incurred as a Vietnam POW make it painful for McCain to type. Instead, he dictates responses that his wife types on a laptop. "She's a whiz on the keyboard, and I'm so laborious," McCain admits."

I used to respect Mccain and now not no more! He has his sold his soul for the presidency of United States. If lies about Obama without having conscious, he will lie to American people at some point in time if he becomes President. I would like to remind Americans, the truth is Mccain is the same as Bush, both have lied to American people. Mccain relies on mileading, lies and distortion to convince American people that he is for reform instead providing to solution on enconmy, health care, war in Iraq, education and much more. This last week he has aired negitive attacks on Obama practically everyday, which completely false. You call that change, is more of the same. Mccain had so much experince that he voted for the war and other side Obama was against the. More half the American people feel we have should not gone to war with Iraq it was a mistake. Most of congress said it was mistake too. Mccain is the one to lead Americans to victory in Iraq. Even Gen. Petraus said we might not achive victory. How does Mccain define victory in Iraq?Does anyone know out there? He can't even get shite or sunni right. Mccain once was true and is he is joke!

If Obama had any honor he would pull the ad that belittles McCain over his ability to send email...
This is from a Forbes article from 2000 that anyone can find online:
"In certain ways, McCain was a natural Web candidate. Chairman of the Senate Telecommunications Subcommittee and regarded as the U.S. Senate’s savviest technologist, McCain is an inveterate devotee of email. His nightly ritual is to read his email together with his wife, Cindy. The injuries he incurred as a Vietnam POW make it painful for McCain to type. Instead, he dictates responses that his wife types on a laptop. “She’s a whiz on the keyboard, and I’m so laborious,” McCain admits."
McCain doesn't personal use a computer because he physically can't work for long periods of time with a keyboard. Fortunately, that is not a prerequisite to be President.
The Obama campaign is sick, those of you who add to its vicious echo chamber are sick, and the media is sick for not calling this 1982 ad what it is: a vicious smear of an honorable veteran's disability.
- Another New Democrat for McCain

Barack Obama is a true leader, inspiring the public by pointing them toward a future where America will regain its moral compass, engage its allies, help the helpless and share the wealth. He is a good man. All I see on the other side is fear, the past, and the way they disgraced America by killing 100,000 Iraqis and 4,300 American Soldiers. Nothing will ever erase the fact that the Republicans are guilty of great ineptitude and downright murder. I will NEVER again believe what they say, and they're not going to gloss over their lies and stupidity by putting a dress on it. They need to apologize to America for all the horrors they have brought upon our great nation, and for how they have disgraced it.

When is anyone with a conscience from the McCain campaign going to stand up against this “win at any cost” campaign? Where is the outrage from honest Republican commentators?
I’m afraid that it will all come after the fact, and someone will write a book bemoaning the fact that negative campaigning works. And one of the staffers who is coaching Sarah Palin now will tell us, when it is too late, that she really was unqualified, but they were afraid of losing their jobs.
Where is the integrity from anyone on the McCain campaign?

Obama spoke the truth the old man is out of touch and out of his mind for picking Palin as his VP. I used to support Clinton and would have gladly given McCain my attention but when he picked that sad stand in for Hilary that was when I decided to go with Obama. At least with Obama you don't feel like he'll say anything just to get the women vote!
Posted by: bea smit | Sep 14, 2008 12:18:55 AM
As sure as I am that Palin was not vetted properly for this historic opportunity, I am equally confident that the pit bull reference, like most of that remarkable speech, neither was written by a woman nor approved by a woman of any merit. Remember when Republicans lauded the image of strong Republican women, as once defined by Kirkpatrick, Kassebaum, Whitman and Rice, among others? The party of Eisenhower, Goldwater and Reagan is now the Grand Old Pit Bull Party and has set up Palin as both raging junkyard dog and doe-eyed pup needing adoption and protection. Make up your minds, boys!
Truthfully, the voters really do have a dog in this fight to stop the loyal Bushies from continuing to wreck the country and wage war without provocation. It’s just that it’s not that old hunting dog howling at the Sedona moon. And it ain’t the Maybelline pit bull from Wasilla, either.
Posted by: Jesica | Sep 14, 2008 12:08:43 AM
Palin’s “pit bull with lipstick” line surely will go down in history — if not the Feminism Hall of Shame — as one of the dumbest things a trailblazing smart woman ever said in public on this side of Stepford.
Since her debut in Minnesota, post-convention sales have gone up on T-shirts with slogans such as “My Hockey Mom Can Beat Up Your Soccer Mom.”
Given this sentiment and how the McSame Republicans seem to like watching women go at it, the menfolk in charge of the next convention might want to consider installing a rubber mat and introducing Jell-O wrestling at their next national frat party.
That’s sure to delight the flat-earth delegates who believe foreign policy experience is relative to one’s proximity to Vladimir Putin. But for the moment, let’s just let those sleeping dogs lie, shall we? No sense poking them more than we have to before November.
Posted by: Jesica | Sep 14, 2008 12:05:56 AM
McCain is a tool of Washington lobbyists. "His campaign manager lobbies for corporations outsourcing American jobs," the ad states, flashing an image of McCain with top aide Rick Davis. "The campaign chairman he picked last year . . . a bank lobbyist," it continues, with an image of McCain and former Texas senator Phil Gramm. "If seven of McCain's top advisers are lobbyists, who do you think will run his White House?"

Wow you people need to get a clue. I am so tired of you getting away with saying someone lied about WMD.YEY the UN, CLINTON,FRANCE,RUSSIA,CHINA.ENGLAND, and 45 other world leaders for 10 years before Bush became president. So of course he believed there were there everyone had been saying it for 10 years. You morons that want to change history can’t or do not want to remember what it was like after 9/11. 92% of the American people wanted to attack Iraq hell most wanted to wipe out Iran and Saudi Arabia too. So get off your silly stupid childish high horse. Because if he did not attack Iraq and there were weapons and something would have happened to America you would all be crying he did not do his job. You people that forgot 9/11 make me sick. Because it is people like you that if you get your way will guarantee it will happen again.

In response to: Berry, you think McCain cares about disabled people and veterans?
Every pc of legislation you listed was voted against not be cause of what was in it but what was added to it by the DEMS. CUT funding for American troops serving in Iraq. Add special interest earmarks like 300 million Sen. Obama requested. So you are misrepresenting the picture completely. The veterans Love McCain as do the service personnel of the armed forces. 93 % approval rating. I guess that means Obama has 7 %

For all you brains out there it does not matter who controls the senate and the house. what matters is who has the votes. Both sides are great at stalling and getting nothing done energy for example the dumb dumb democrats want no drilling that want new fuels that are not here yet. they want cars that get 100 miles a gallon not here yet so they stall and the taxpayer pays for it.

Berry, you think McCain cares about disabled people and veterans?
McCAIN REPEATEDLY VOTED AGAINST VETERANS’ HEALTH BENEFITS
******* McCain Opposes the 21st Century GI Bill Because It Is Too Generous. McCain did not vote on the GI Bill that will provide better educational opportunities to veterans of the Afghanistan and Iraq wars, paying full tuition at in-state schools and living expenses for those who have served at least three years since the 9/11 attacks. McCain said he opposes the bill because he thinks the generous benefits would “encourage more people to leave the military.” (S.Amdt. 4803 to H.R. 2642, Vote 137, 5/22/08; Chattanooga Times Free Press, 6/2/08; Boston Globe, 5/23/08; ABCNews.com, 5/26/08)
******* McCain Voted Against Increased Funding for Veterans’ Health Care. Although McCain told voters at a campaign rally that improving veterans’ health care was his top domestic priority, he voted against increasing funding for veterans’ health care in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007. (Greenville News, 12/12/2007; S.Amdt. 2745 to S.C.R. 95, Vote 40, 3/10/04; Senate S.C.R. 18, Vote 55, 3/16/05; S.Amdt. 3007 to S.C.R. 83, Vote 41, 3/14/06; H.R. 1591, Vote 126, 3/29/07)
******* Opposed an Assured Funding Stream for Veterans’ Health Care. McCain opposed providing an assured funding stream for veterans’ health care, taking into account annual changes in veterans’ population and inflation. (S.Amdt. 3141 to S.C.R. 83, Vote 63, 3/16/06)
******* McCain Voted Against Adding More Than $400 Million for Veterans’ Care. McCain was one of 13 Republicans to vote against providing an additional $430 million to the Department of Veterans Affairs for outpatient care and treatment for veterans. (S.Amdt. 3642 to H.R. 4939, Vote 98, 4/26/06)
******* Voted Against Establishing a $1 Billion Trust Fund for Military Health Facilities. McCain voted against establishing a $1 billion trust fund to improve military health facilities by refusing to repeal tax cuts for those making more than $1 million a year. (S.Amdt. 2735 to S.Amdt. 2707 to H.R. 4297, Vote 7, 2/2/06)

I would rather have the president attending to the nation's business than sitting on the computer e-mailing. Why does Obama think that should be an issue? Is it one of the requirements to be a president?
Michelle was not invited to the 9/11 event, they were afraid she would open her mouth, she is better at dancing with liberals.
The Republican party NOT DEMOCRATIC PARTY was founded in 1854 on an anti-slavery platform and have been against slavery ever since.

OOOO I love this. I smell desperation as Obama calls McCain, who's been physically broken and tortured to the point of not being able to type well - an out of touch pol (sub-rosa = a grumpy old man).
Obama will tell you what he'll do but not what he has accomplished.
He says he will bring hope, but won't give specifics.
He says his policies are better - but has never shown he can deliver any meaningful change except a good speech and a flair for slogans.
These weeks will be a good measure of how he can handle pressure... so far his performance has not been good - reactive, tentative, stiff, condescending, vulnerable and defensive.
He says he is a good poker player - but this a bad "tell"!

Was Obama computer illiterate himself or just being an insensative elitist again when he approved this ad? Had he searched Google he would have found a 2000 article in the Boston Globe and a later AP article explaining that McCain could only use a keyboard on a limited basis due to the injuries he sustained during his years as a POW in Viet Nam. Perhaps Obama thought he was in San Francisco again and could get away with making fun of others.

Palin Is Bush with lipstick
Rick Steiner, a University of Alaska professor, sought the e-mail messages of state scientists who had examined the effect of global warming on polar bears. (Ms. Palin said the scientists had found no ill effects, and she has sued the federal government to block the listing of the bears as endangered.) An administration official told Mr. Steiner that it would cost $468,784 to process his request.
When Mr. Steiner finally obtained the e-mail messages — through a federal records request — he discovered that state scientists had in fact agreed that the bears were in danger, records show.
“Their secrecy is off the charts,” Mr. Steiner said.

Gov. Sarah Palin lives by the maxim that all politics is local, not to mention personal.
So when there was a vacancy at the top of the State Division of Agriculture, she appointed a high school classmate, Franci Havemeister, to the $95,000-a-year directorship. A former real estate agent, Ms. Havemeister cited her childhood love of cows as one of her qualifications for running the roughly $2 million agency.
These Cronys know nothing of the positions they hold. and are terribly inept... Remember How Katrina played out???? Cronyism will be the way Of Palin McCain
Ms. Havemeister was one of at least five schoolmates Ms. Palin hired, often at salaries far exceeding their private sector wages.

Well this is it for me for now and so in memory of one of the nations best Presidents (and least qualified) it ever had, let me leave you with a quote from his reelection campaign; "Do not vote Republican, for their constant pandering to special interests, will result in a never ending cycle of economic booms, and busts!" ... RipGOP…OK..I agree that being “Nice” to Republican “operatives” is not good, but I said the “electorate” which is not the Talk show hosts, and party operatives. As for Palin, I already said she is not “intelligent” enough, which is what I attribute most of your good points to. As for the “allegations” when she is “convicted” of something I will say she too is another Republican “Evil Doer”, but until then, I will see her as only stupid, but “innocent until proven guilty”. Oh and for the record, I see Bush and Chaney as both guilty of treason and war crimes!

The biggest science experiment in human histoy, The Hadron Collider experiment was almost blocked by a scared, vocal minority of Right Wing Religious Cooks convinced that turning on the LHC would spell doom for the earth. Yet some simple research and background in fairly basic science should have been enough to allay the fears generated by the LHC project.
Perhaps the Right wingers attack on science is having an affect in that our students lag all other first world nations in science education. And now we have a VP candidate who actually supports the nonsense of Creationism. If you believe in creationism then you would have to reject all of Physics, Biology, Geology, Astronomy, Archeology, Mathematics and on and on.
Palin is a member of the
“Flat Earth Society”

nh, you are too easy on the Republicans... being nice doesnt work with them... And as far as your view of Sarah Palin being a nice woman...
• In a videotaped speech to students at her church this year she claimed that the war in Iraq is God's will.
• In the same speech she also claimed that it is God's will that Alaska build a $30 million gas and oil pipeline.
• As governor, she advocates teaching creationism in public school classrooms.
• A bipartisan committee is investigating Palin who fired public safety commissioner Walt Monegan because he would not dismiss a trooper, Mike Wooten, who went through a messy divorce with her sister before Palin's election as governor. The evidence is poring out suggesting abuse of power.
• Also refuting overwhelming scientific evidence, Plain states that global warming is not due to human activity.
• She opposes abortion even in the case of rape or incest.
• As mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, she secured almost $27 million in earmarks for her hamlet of about 6,400, assisted by a lobbyist closely allied to now-tarnished Sen. Ted Stevens. Now she says that she is opposed to earmark funding.
• Palin, who has zero experience in foreign policy and only last year received her first U.S. passport , told Alaska Business Monthly that 'I've been so focused on state government, I haven't really focused much on the war in Iraq."
• She is under investigation as to whether she abused her power as governor by dismissing the state's public safety commissioner for refusing to fire her former brother-in-law from the state police.
• She opposes Sex Education in schools and has a 17 year old daughter who and is now pregnant and unwed.
Palin has close ties to the extreme fringe Alaska Independence Party, which has at times sought a vote on whether the state should secede.
• As mayor, she pressured her town librarian to ban books.
• Palin is a NRA member and opposes any bans on assault weapons
(Do you need an assault weapon to kill a moose?)
• Palin flip-flopped on her support for the "Bridge to Nowhere."
• Bush speechwriter Matthew Scully wrote Palin’s speech... How is this Change?
Whats the Difference between Bush and Palin?.... Lipstick
Clearly she is prepared to continue the Bush legacy of hypocrisy, ignorance of science, cronyism, and promoting the agenda of the extreme religious right. Palin can count herself among the members of the "Flat Earth Society."

RipGOP…While I would tend to agree with you, I see the Republican electorate as being more “Brain Washed” and “fear driven” than fundamentally ignorant. We need to help the see the “LIGHT of TRUTH” ie “FACTS” and not turn them off by insulting them. The problem is they are following evil men whom mean them harm. The devils greatest power is in his power to deceive people into believing that “HE” is GOD!!!

SARAH PALIN’S OWN WORDS JUST A MONTH AGO:
“As for that VP talk all the time, I’ll tell you, I still can’t answer that question until somebody answers for me what is it exactly that the VP does every day?”
McCain’s Own Words:
“I know a lot less about economics than I do about military and foreign policy issues. I still need to be educated.”

Speaking of ads ever notice all the sleasy snake oil sales ads an conservative talk radio... All the business advertising on those shows are scams praying on the gullible social conservatives. Madison avenue has those folks pegged for what they are backwards bumkins who are dangerously uninformed and only see the world through their Hate fueled filter. Its no wonder that same audience gobbles up the lies put out by the McCain Palin Campaign

RipGOP…While we appear to be on the same side, I.e. Obama’s, just a thought about “earmarks”. If you were a Governor or Senator or House Rep, would it not be your job to get the most from Washington that you could for the sake of your constituents? After all, is that not your “job”. We should not blame our elected officials for “working” the system, we should blame them for not “Changing” it! McCain has had the most YEARS to Change the system, and yet he has not! That makes his stand against earmarks disingenuous! I think Palin is a nice person and perhaps even a good Governor for Alaska, but I see her as ill suited both intellectually and emotionally to play politics on the world stage against the likes of Putin!

McCain -Palin Lie in ads and on the stump BREAKING ONE OF THE TEN COMMANDMENTS
John McCain got it wrong Friday when he asserted that his running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, had not requested any earmarks, the spending directives lawmakers insert in spending bills that McCain has vowed to eliminate.
Palin, in fact, requested $198 million in federal earmarks in February, including such expenses as $487,000 to fight obesity in Alaska and $4 million to develop recreational trails.

Kenny Jones...Its not about PS's and Wheel chairs...Its about who and what the voters will listen too. You may see it as silly and I would agree, but I also see Palin as a bad choice, but you apparently lack the insight to see much beyond PC's and lip stick.
Posted by: nh Pragmatist | Sep 13, 2008 6:31:37 PM
McCain's vision of his presidency evidently includes fighting a war or wars. As a military man he dreams of the glory he will be covered in the history books, while the rest of us are covered in blood.

marilyn...Quite the reach, but while McCain cannot play basketball I'm sure he can type...please think about what you say before you say it as there are many that would not see the nonsense in your words

McCAIN HAS TO SLING MUD IN HIS ADS....
his Policies don't stand up to scrutiny.
He has admitted his ignorance of the economy...
McCain’s Own Words:
“I know a lot less about economics than I do about military and foreign policy issues. I still need to be educated.”
Why not listen to the men who know a great deal more about the economy... The worlds richest men, and biggest benefactors ...
Bill Gates and Warren Buffet who both support ...

WOW Obama attacks McCain for not being able to use a keyboard. I guess McCain should have thought about that before he took the beatings from the Viet-Cong since that is why he can't use a keyboard. If McCain was blind would Obama criticize him for not embracing the automobile?

Al MacLeod ...Well "kid" you see...the problem is movies are make believe, but our lives are for real...GROW UP!!!

We can hardly be surprised by the lies of the McCain campaign. We can hardly be surprised that the American people will not notice or care. Our democracy and freedoms are in serious jeopardy, our economy is in the ditch, our young people are dying in useless wars, and we are being lied into more of the same. The Republicans have ample evidence of the basic stupidity of the American people.

Obama sort of reminds me of the character played by Steve McQueen in the "Cincinatti Kid". In his mind he's facing an old man who he thinks he can beat handily. The "old man" has years of experience behind him as a famous poker playing champion. The "Kid" thinks his best days are behind him and will prove it to everyone by beating him soundly. In the movie you see Robinson (McCain), a distinguished man with few words, just play his game quietly, in a steady and methodical manner. At the end he looks like he is in trouble against the kid and then when just everyone thinks the "Kid" has him..Robinson produces the winning card. The Kid looks stunned, in utter disbelief..whereupon Robinson finally says something in the movie.."Listen kid, you're good see..but as long as I am around..you're still second best"!

So now to be preident you have to know how to use a PC. Kinda of like being a "Community Organizer" over a mayor.
And what happen to the we all need to get along. First it's someone who told a person in a wheelchair to stand up. Now telling someone you doesn't have total use of one hand and limited use of their arms you don't know how to use a PC.

To:A Better America
It 's dimwits like you liberals that decimated our security during the Clinton years in order to balance the budget that left the military and intelligence agencies strapped and then 911.
Oh, by the way, you Liberals have been in charge of the checkbook the last 4 years.Scared to cut pork, and no backbone to stand up and cut defense with Bush in the White House. Now I think this may be a record year for deficits???? -----------------
Hey Steve,
Your responses clearly showed you have NO EDUCATION, BIASED, and like to spew nonsense! Here are the reasons:
1) 9-11 happened NOT because of lack of budget (as you claimed). They FBI *did* have intels prior to the attack. THEY JUST DIDN'T TAKE THE THREAT SERIOUSLY!
2) You said "you Liberals have been in charge of the checkbook the last 4 years" --
In 2004, Republicans had control of BOTH the Senate *AND* House!
Senate:
55 (R)
44 (D)
House:
232 (R)
202 (D)
In addition, Bush controlled the White House, so...... HOW THE HECK DID YOU COME UP WITH "you Liberals have been in charge of the checkbook the last 4 years"?!?!?!
Steve, you need to either:
1) Stay in school / go back to school
or
2) Do some RESEARCH on the internet BEFORE you start making IDIOTIC ACCUSATIONS!!!
It's MINDLESS MINIONS like you who helped BUSH RUINED THIS COUNTRY!!!
Posted by: A better America | Sep 13, 2008 3:03:25 PM
Face it there are a lot of radical left wing nutjobs in the Democratic party. Many of Hillary's supporters rightfully argued that BO would fail in the General Election because there wouldn't be enough liberal extremists to carry him to victory. Never knew watching a sinking ship could be so much fun...

I worry about this country... A democracy is only as good as its people are informed and educated...
IT'S LIKE THE TITANTIC... These are crucial and dire times in our history and yet we may be putting a Rigid Fundamentalist with no international experience a heart beat away from the presidency.

Once again we find ourselves witnessing new lows in the depths of deception of the desperate republicans tactics. Since their policies can't stand up to scrutiny. and compared to Obamas are a disgrace...
McCain will continue with the colossal failures of the past 8-years under bush.
Remember... McCain has voted in line with Bush over 91% of the time. Bush approval rating now ...Low 20s!

The Democrats lost the last two elections because their smugness and high self regard caused them to underestimate their opposition. Looks like they are doing it again by treating McCain as a senile old geezer and Palin as a simplistic hockey mom. Don't they realize they are alienating middle America by their condescending tactics? An Ivy League education does not common sense buy.
