Mr. Taper, with Hurricane Ike approaching Houston, TX, I may be a bit late on the discussion.

I would like to go back to your post of 18 June, 2008 "Obama Up In Swing States; Clinton Would Be a Drag with Indies"

Obama camp may used similar analysis of "losing the independent voters" on the decision of not picking Hillary Clinton as. Unfortunately for Obama, many independent voters specially white women are moving to McCain-Palin ticket.

No surprisingly the latest Quinnipiac Polls in PA, OH, and FL show how Barack Obama is significantly underperforming John Kerry's 2004 numbers by 14 and 16 points (-XX)*among independent voters, while losing many Hillary Clinton supporters.

Pennsylvania: Obama 48% to McCain 45%
PA: Obama 44% (-14)* to McCain 45% among indep.
(PA: Kerry won 58% to 41% among indep.)

PA:Obama 72% to McCain 22% among Clinton supporters

Ohio: Obama 49 to McCain 44%
Ohio: Obama 43%(-16)* to McCain 47% among indep.
(OH: Kerry won 59% to 40 among indep.)

Ohio: Obama 65% to McCain 28% among Clinton supporters

Florida: McCain 50% to Obama 43%
Florida: Obama 43 (-14)* to McCain 50% among inde.
(FL: Kerry won 57% to 41% among indep.)

Florida: Obama 69% to McCain 24% among Clinton supporters

Losing many Hillary Clinton supporters after not picking her for VP, Barack Obama must match John Kerry numbers (-xx)* among independent voters to win in those states.

BKMC: Your ignorance is scary.

TO THOSE MOCKING SENATOR OBAMA'S INTELLENGENCE...DO YOU KNOW WHAT HARVARD'S LAW REVIEW IS?... LOL

McCain & Palin:

Two irrelevant candidates of
no consequence. On the fringe -
not what we need now.

McCain marginalized himself into
a nonentity when the recent
troop withdrawal timetable
was accepted by President Bush.

riley: I don't think it was Biden, Palin took the celebrity status from Obama who never thought this will happen. Now he needs Bill and Hillary Clinton because he can't catch ground. I thought he was suppose to be so intelligent graduating from Harvard. It appears you can go to college and still be dumb.

I WAS HAPPY TO SEE VOTERS ARE NOT FALLING FOR ALL THE REPUBLICAN LIES. SAD AS I AM REPUBLICAN TOO. JUST AM EMBARRASSED TO SAY I AM REPUBLICAN.

VOTERS KEEP TO THE ISSUES. CHECK WHAT REPUBLICANS ARE SAYING. I HAVE FOUND THEM LYING ALOT.

FOUND SARAH PALIN IS NOT WHO SHE SAYS SHE IS EITHER. FOUND SHE LIES TOO. FOUND SHE DIDN'T CLEAN UP POLITICAL CORRUPTION ALASKA. FBI STARTED WAY BEFORE IN 2004. FIRST LEGISLATOR OFFICE RAIDED BY FBI AUG, 2006. SARAH PALIN VOTED IN AS GOVERNOR NOV, 2006. SHE DID NOT START INVESTIGATION. SHE AND HER ALASKA GOVERNMENT DID NOT DO ANY OF FBI INVESTIGATION. SARAH PALIN JUST SOLD TO ALASKA PEOPLE SHE WAS CHANGE. FBI IS WHO CHANGED ALASKA POLITICS. SINCE 2004 ALL OF ALASKA GOVERNMENT WALKING GOOD LINE. SARAH RODE WAVE OF GOOD AS FBI DID ALL THE WORK. SARAH DID NOT TAKE ON GOOD OLE BOYS.

GO GOOGLE ALASKA POLITICAL CORRUPTION - GO TO WIKIPEDIA. READ THE FACTS FOR YOURSELF

FACT - FBI CLAIMS - 11 REPUBLICANS INDICTED - NO DEMOCRATS

THEN I LOOK AT PALIN LEGISLATIVE INVESTIGATION AGAINST HER RIGHT NOW. INFORMATION I HAVE DOES NOT LOOK GOOD. APPEARS A REAL COVER- UP ATTEMPT IS PROCEEDING AHEAD!!

PLEASE EVERYONE DO CHECK SARAH PALIN OUT. SHE IS PRETTY, SHE GIVES GREAT SPEECHES, SHE IS WOMAN - BUT PLEASE REALLY THINK WHAT IS IMPORTANT.IS SHE WHO SHE CLAIMS TO BE. I FIND SHE IS NOT!

OUR COUNTRY IS IN A DISASTER. I CAN'T TAKE ANOTHER FOUR MORE YEARS OF THE SAME. THIS LATEST MOVE BY MCCAIN PALIN TO SWITCH FROM EXPERIENCE TO "CHANGE" IS BOGUS.

Vanessa: I see a landslide too, McCain and Palin. Obama is cringing that's why he needs Bill Clinton. He can't handle it by himself. That's the highly educated college graduate that came out a failure. He needs all the help he can get.

Posted by: Mariann Pepitone | Sep 11, 2008 6:02:52 PM

BKMC: God help us if Obama is elected. What a mess this country will be in with Farrakhan, Wright, Ayers, Father P and Rezko (out of jail) will be coming to dinner at the white house making crooked plans. After all, these are Obama's chosen friends. Plus his entire family from Kenya. Will it still be the white house?

Posted by: Mariann Pepitone | Sep 11, 2008 5:57:33 PM

Parker: When the real polls come out that will be from the voters. I don't believe these polls because all the media inflate Obama's polls and have been doing it for a long time. Wait until Palin comes back to campaign, it won't matter about Bill Clinton or Hillary, McCain will win the election and Palin is a big crowd drawer. She beat Obama with the viewers on convention night and so did McCain. Obama right now is in need of help.

Posted by: Mariann Pepitone | Sep 11, 2008 5:51:24 PM

anon: Because Obama doesn't have the intelligence. He's lucky he graduated college.

seclusion to do an interview later

She has been underwhelming us

us some more?

"A watchdog group has called McCain a hero to taxpayers with an 88% approval rating."

Aaaah yes more fake right wing talking points.

Who is this watchdog group?

Why its the Citizens against Government Waste, who receive alot of their funding from RJ Reynolds (you may have heard of them).

Hmmm they claim they are non partisan but their donations are 100% to Republicans the last 4 cycles with not a penny to Democrats.

The right wing is a joke.

Democrats, please answer:

- Do you really think that the withdrawal of our troops from Irak will make us safer? they will be sent to Afghanistan. Obama wants to increase our soldiers there.

- Do you really think that rising taxes and government spending will help taxpayers and improve the economy? less money for people to live with.

Sounds funny that when socialism has failed in Europe, we want to import it to America. Have a look at Europe and see its disastrous results.

Both houses was taken over by the Republicans in 1994 they brought real reform to country which lead to boom I agree Clinton plaed a roll in it but don't make it sound like it all of his policies that did it
Remember the president present a budget to congress and then they start to debate it Also Clinton was a moderate He believed in free trade he even fought the liberal side of his pary and had one hell of a economic advisor I feel that if the liberal side of the dem had stayed in office and Clinton had to work with them this country would not have prospered the way it did.

Obama either lied during the primary or he lying now because now he want to portray himself as being in the middle Some one going to be upset if is elected either voters on the far left or the one in middle The only way he’ll get reelected in four years is that he govern from the middle If he govern from Nacey P position the dem will lose it all in 4 years which will be good for the republican I don’t care what you make his taxes increase will effect you. You may get more back on your returns

As far as Mccain goes if the people in middle think about he’ll govern from the center because that is who he is Why else do think the republican wasn’t excited before the VP nomination

A watchdog group has called McCain a hero to taxpayers with an 88% approval rating.

Obama has been called hostile to taxpayers with an 19% approval rating.

Wake up taxpayers.
Obama will kill small business and the jobs with them.

Akadad, democrates controlled the congress very recently, so the mess created by WBush was with the support of the republican congress. I hope this helps you understand. God save America from McPalin

The dem always talk about how inclusive they are to people When a successful woman come into the picture and that thinks different and look normal Look at how they ATTACK You all say it the republican who attack I’m sorry but take a look at what your writing Look at what Obama and attack dog Biden said about McCain I think both party is pretty good at it I’m a register Dem but left when Reagan did because the party has been taken over by the Hollywood elite and people like movon.org

By the way who ran the ads attacking McCain about how many houses he has Are some of you jealous that your not successful Maybe if you didn’t set around waiting on Gov hand outs you would be

As for as the economy goes as always it has it cycles Like the last 6 month of Clinton years the country went into recession Do any of you remember that
