Biden Camp Calls Israeli Army Radio Report a 'Lie'
September 01, 2008 2:59 PM
The respected Israeli newspaper Ha'artez today repeated an Israeli Army Radio report that Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del, the Democratic vice presidential nominee, told "senior Israeli officials behind closed doors that the Jewish state will have to reconcile itself to a nuclear Iran."
"Israel will have to reconcile itself with the nuclearization of Iran," Army Radio said that Biden told the unnamed officials. "It's doubtful if the economic sanctions will be effective, and I am against opening an additional military and diplomatic front."
Biden spox David Wade said the unsourced report is simply false.
"This is a lie peddled by partisan opponents of Senators Obama and Biden," said Wade, "and we will not tolerate anyone questioning Senator Biden’s 35-year record of standing up for the security of Israel. Joe Biden’s first trip as a Senator was to Israel, he has worked with every Israeli leader from Golda Meir to Prime Minister Olmert, and he takes a back seat to no one when it comes to protecting the relationship between Israel and the US."
Biden, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, is a long-standing supporter of Israel and considered a key pro-Israel voice in the Senate by pro-Israel organizations.
"Senator Biden has consistently stated – publicly and privately -- that a nuclear Iran would pose a grave threat to Israel and the United States and that we must prevent a nuclear Iran," Wade said.
Israeli Army Radio also said that Biden told Israeli officials that he opposed "opening a additional military and diplomatic front." Army Radio said Israeli officials expressed "amazement" over the remarks.
The Obama-Biden campaign pointed out that just a few weeks ago, at a July 9 Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing, Biden said that "Iran's acquisition of a nuclear weapon would dramatically destabilize an already unstable region and probably fuel a nuclear arms race in the region. It is profoundly in our interest to prevent that from happening.”
On the American cable TV channel Shalom TV last year, Biden said, "I am a Zionist. You don't have to be a Jew to be a Zionist." He addded that "Israel is the single greatest strength that America has in the Middle East."

Joe Biden has always been a strong supporter of Israel. The right wingers love to spread false smears.

Mr. Incredible - The question for the nineteen hijackers is why did you do it? Bin Laden said it was because of invasive pro-Israel foreign policy in the arab world. Listen to your enemies and you may learn something.

==I choose Obama because of foreign policy.==
Then, don't claim to be Republican.
What are his foreign policy creds?
== It is now the dems chance to screw things up further.==
You don't care much about this country. You wanna let somebody in there who will screw it up more. Great.
== The republicans have been a distaster.==
== I am going third party because I am sick of both.==
Then, you favor Obamarama over McCain cuz only one of them is gonna get in.
== How do you know I don't like you.==
Never said anything about that. It doesn't matter.
== I just don't like what you are writing.==
So what?
== We are going broke...==
We're not going broke. It won't happen.
==...and I advocate policy that counters this fact.==
So do I: Print more money.
== To me only Ron Paul talked of fiscal sanity.==
But he's not getting in.
== Bombing people...==
You shoulda talked to the nineteen hijackers before they took down WTC.

Mr. Incredible - Quit giving them reasons to hit us. We have been screwing in their sandlot for 50 years, and they have become resentful. Can you believe it? It is time for a serious change in foreign policy where our equitable treatment among parties is paramount. We have slighted certain parties at the advantage of others for too long, and the resulting resentment is coming back to bite us.

You sound like a Democrat.
Only one of two candidates is gonna win. By siding with Ron Paul, who doesn't have a snowball's chance, you are giving just that more impetus to Obamarama. That means that you don't mind his getting in more than you don't mind McCain's getting in. this means that, essentially, you're voting for Obamarama by not voting for McCain.
== When I said we have invaded more countries, that is certainly true during our existence.==
Actually, no it isn't.
Most of the countries you mentioned the first time have rarely come out of their borders.==
That's the PR, anyway.
== It is really pointless to talk to someone that is a republican spinmeister.==
I'm not a "republican [sic] spinmeister."
== All logic is smeared with someone like you.==
Translation: "You don't think like me. Therefore, you're illogical."

China is a poerful entity. So is Russia and North Korea and Syria and Iran. Let's be polite and let them go first.

Mr. Incredible - I have seen polls taken in Europe where blame is put on both sides.

The Democrats need to distance themselves from the crazies at moveon . Is money worth the control they have?

==North Korea will do so in about 4 months...==
From what I've seen, they are rethinking this.
==... Iran has no high purity Uranium or plutonium (or thorium).==
That's the Pr, anyway.
== Russia and China are not part of the equation.==
Then, I say that neither is Israel.
==Thus only country that needed to be nuded of its weapons stockpils of nuclear category is Pakistan, India and Israel. All three countries must be asked or forced to give up their weapons or compelte blockade of their international trade, sans humanitarian needs.==
First, North Korea and China and Russia and Syria and Iran give up theirs. Let them be generous for once.

==Nothing like the comments attributed to an unnamed army source from Israel.==
Libs are always telling us that we have the Right to know. They say that news-gathering organizations must rely on unnamed sources.

==Those countries would want us to give up the nukes first.==
Well, I want THEM to give up THEIRS first. So, now what?
== Humility in foreign policy by all parties is the way to go.==
I want them to have humility first.
== As long as the US tries to tell others how to conduct their business, resistance will occur.==
They are trying to tell us how to conduct our business. So, I got resistance.
== People like self-determination.==
So, we have determined tghat, if they're gonna have them, we'll have them, too, and, if they take the first step, we'll follow.
== Just listen to Ron Paul, and you might understand.==
I already understand. That's why I don't listen to Ron Paul
Posted by: Mr. Incredible | Sep 1, 2008 4:25:17 PM
To the Libs, this isn't about problem solving, rather problem making.

Mr. Incredible - Those countries would want us to give up the nukes first. Humility in foreign policy by all parties is the way to go. As long as the US tries to tell others how to conduct their business, resistance will occur. This is true for international relationships as well as personal. People like self-determination. Just listen to Ron Paul, and you might understand.

Well, this should quiet the DailyKooks who have been posting for days that Palin's down syndrome son is actually her daughter's child and they are pulling an insurance scam.
Sarah's son is 4 months old and her daughter is 5 months pregnant. Presumably even Daily Kooks can figure out the impossibility of their thesis.

==I simply want Israel's nukes out with civility. There is no fuss about it. Let us all get the most lethal weapons out of the world.==
Ok, and I say that Russia and Iran and North Korea and China should go first.

kat - Actually many in Europe do put much of the blame for the climate in the middle east on the Israelis. Land grabs for settlement building and land demarcation in the territories is often the reasons for European discontent towards Israel.
Posted by: Ben Straub | Sep 1, 2008 4:15:00 PM
I simply want Israel's nukes out with civility. There is no fuss about it. Let us all get the most lethal weapons out of the world. However, Israel-US link will gradualy erode as Israel tries to seek favor from China at cost of US. Time will tell...time is hte ultimate qualifier..not you or myself.
Posted by: Sardar | Sep 1, 2008 4:14:04 PM
Sardar - Europeans don't see Israel as terroristic. What are you trying to stir up?
Posted by: kat | Sep 1, 2008 4:13:11 PM
len - Maybe we see eye to eye more than we realize. We are quite frankly ready, and this is a intelligence matter. I do however see McCain's policies as militant. The guy sang a song about bombing a country that hasn't attacked us in which thousands of civilians would be killed in the process. Anybody that sings such a song should not be taken seriously. Anybody that supports such a candidate is in my opinion part of the problem and a knucklehead.
