House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, called this Wall Street bailout bill a "crap sandwich." And then later, on C-SPAN, a "mud sandwich."

And he was a supporter of the bill!

Rep. Paul Braun, R-Georgia, voted against it.

Before his vote, he called the bill "a huge cow patty with a piece of marshmallow stuck in the middle, and I'm not going to eat that cow patty."

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows Barack Obama attracting 50% of the vote while John McCain earns 45%. That’s the fourth straight day Obama has been at 50% and the fourth straight day McCain has been at either 44% or 45%.

If Obama gains the presidency I sure hope he can put a muzzle on Pelosi! She sure isn't following his doctrine of "civilized behavior" and everyone working together towards a common good.

I'm against any package that does not include progressive income and wealth taxes to be "insurance" for high income investors who games of economic Russian Roullet put us in this mess.

If they want a bailout they need to finance it with taxes.

I also don't the US purchasing loans or whatever that are not backed by tangible assets.

Buying derivative hedges or whatever is unacceptable. They are junk. I read that a cohort of Milken helped create some of these things -- figures.

Pelosi assertation that the Democrats delivered on this vote is a patent lie. As in FALSE!

95 Democrats voted against this bailout! That is 40% percent disagreed with Pelosi. That is only about 35 votes different then the number of Republicans that voted for the bill.

The bill was crap and did nothing for main street America. Those that voted against this bill could see that.

Is a bill needed? Yes. And perhaps if congress can actually get Pelosi and Reid out of the way, a bill that actually works FOR THE PEOPLE could actually be crafted.

Again, for those who still don't get it: today's vote is a major blow to John McCain.

You should know that McCain and his top aides took credit for building a winning bailout coalition – hours before the vote failed and stocks tanked.

The rush to claim he had engineered a victory now looks like a huge strategic blunder that will prolong the McCain’s campaign’s difficulty in finding a winning message on the economy.

Shortly before the vote, McCain had bragged about his involvement and mocked Sen. Barack Obama for staying on the sidelines.

“I've never been afraid of stepping in to solve problems for the American people, and I'm not going to stop now,” McCain told a rally in Columbus, Ohio. “Sen. Obama took a very different approach to the crisis our country faced. At first he didn't want to get involved. Then he was monitoring the situation.”

McCain, grinning, flashed a sarcastic thumbs up.

“That's not leadership. That's watching from the sidelines,” he added to cheers and applause.

Now all the tables turned on McCain.

Voters who paid attentention to his theatre flash a thumbs down that wil last into November.

Don't like the Bill? Vote "nay" on the merits and state your case. Republicans voting "nay" because they got their feelings hurt by democrats should be impeached by their constituents. This is not the play-ground. My family has been your biggest supporters and we will all be voting you OUT!

GIVE ME A BREAk! You position is stupid!

The Republican position is :

Goodness! Do you really think all these loans were made to people with poor credit? Wake up!!!

Unless you had A+ credit scores, you could not get a 120% LTV. The loans that went over 100% LTV were primarily 2nd mortgages, lent to existing homeowners with strong payment histories and good credit on existing homes they owned. These people leveraged their primary residences to beyond the gills to put Hummers in the driveways, pools in the backyards, pay off credit card debts, pay for plastic surgery, and pull out equity to put money down on an pre-construction "investment" condo they planned on "flipping" to someone more foolish than them. They banked on the delusional profits from their flip, the future continued rapid increase in property values, and their future ability to just refi again to carry them through. Now, these are the homes in foreclosure, because these once credit-worthy gamblers now can't sell their flips, they can't sell their homes, and the homes are now worth less than they leveraged them for so now they can't refi out of their adjustables. They owe more than they are worth! These homes are now worth literally often $100K+ less than their market highs and these owners, though many still really able to pay are choosing not too, mailing back their keys..."jingle mail."

This is the sick reality of what the greed created with deregulation!

How could anyone vote for this bill when the folks they are representing direct them not to. We didn't ask our representatives to go to Washington and take orders; we asked them to go to Washington to carry our messages. Do they discredit or disrespect their contiguents and thereby ignore their requests. It took tremendous courage and respect to vote this proposal down.
The Demo are saying we came up with a plan that we liked and the Rep need to agree with us or they are the bad guys. Does this sounds like a compromise? Too bad it hasn't occurred to anyone yet that the ole kindergarten rules apply...keep it simple, tell the truth, and play fair. But, playing by these rules takes courage...look at what Palin is having to deal with.

"Im pulling out my money and putting it under my bed! "

No... You should convert it to Euro's and then put in under your bed.

Only the GOP could vote down a bill, then blame it on a speech. This thing is proposed by their President and Treasury Secretary, not the Dems in Congress.

McCain is just another third term I'm afraid.

Yay Republicans. Screw the economy.

Re-election first! Country second!

Anyone in Congress that said a deal was done before John McCain came back to Washington to help, has now been caught in a lie.

This moment in the history of our nation has spiraled down into pure politics.

Obama does not have a clue. Pelosi does not have a clue. Harry Reid and Barney Frank do not have a clue.

Do you all think the media will blame McCain for this?

They better not!!

The Democrats control the majority in Congress and Pelosi and Obama failed to get enough of their own votes in their own party to pass this Bill.

The Bill was a boondoggle, and needs to be improved.

I pray that McCain and Hillary can get together today and get a deal worked out to help America.

The Democrats led by Pelosi have failed America.

Great Moments in American History

The Signing of the Declaration of Independence:

House Republicans: "We were going to sign. We were. We had dipped our quills in the very ink. However, it was then that John Witherspoon made a rude noise, directed at our very standing area. Therefore, we refused to sign."

The Gettysburg Address:

Lincoln: "Four score and seven years ago...Why are you looking at me like that? No, I mean like that. Don't look at me like that. I refuse to continue."

D-Day:

General Eisenhower: "Men...off the carrier and to the shore! No...No...I said it nicely. I was just trying to be enthusiastic. No, I didn't mean that you wouldn't get off the carrier. No, that's the usual tone of my voice.

Man's Landing on The Moon:

Neil Armstrong: "That's one small step for man, one giant...What, Buzz? No, I'm not trying to imply anything. No, I've never even thought about that. Yes, we all have the same size suits. No. Size 9. Yes, double E."

The Stabilization of the American Economy in the 21st Century:

"You hurt our feelings."

The Repulbicans are a party of no ideas. The Democrats are a party of bad ideas. And the rest of the Parties are non existant.

I cannot believe that the Republican (and some Democrat) politicians would play with our future. This is not a game! My retirement is probably completely wiped out now- and the only reason the Republicans gave for voting against THEIR president's bill is that Pelosi gave a partisan speech! This is outrageous and unacceptable! If we do not collectively vote them out, we will continue to get more of the same. I say, "thanks, but no thanks!" UNBELIEVABLE!

I have never saw a bunch of useless, dysfunctional, incompetent, corrupt, etc. as the people in Washington representing “We the People”. They were sent there by the voters to represent them and have failed miserably. Glass-Steagall Act of 1933 was repealed in 1999 with congress controlled by Republicans and Phil Graham’s name all over it, then the Clinton Admin. signed it into law. Give the Republicans their credit for this! Americans need to clean house in Washington, both Democrats and Republicans.

one more thing...McCain is still just a Senator...until you win the big game...your still just a Senator...same as Obama, difference is he isn't talking this fake heroic crap...I'd go for realistic to the point information and that information is: Ball of confusion.

Let us hope, divided as they are,American people will not extreme positions and create a second, even more deadly imbroglio, and remake a sort of Succession war again. I know, and sincerely hope, the people I was taught to admire, and who always, in times of distress have had the cold mind to choose the right path will do it, once again. God bless America, and enlighten the American people !

This is crap on both sides of the hall...oh yea, there is no suspension of campaign when you call on press conferences to talk about your opponents politics...this is insanity and America is wearing a big black eye.
