Conan Makes a Crude Joke About Bristol Palin

September 06, 2008 12:01 PM

Watch HERE.

In hockey, "the crease," incidentally, is the area of ice directly in front of the net with the red border and blue interior.

"That joke's going to follow me around for awhile," Conan O'Brien predicts.

The Republicans complain about "the media" as if Conan, US Weekly, the National Enquirer, and left-wing bloggers have anything to do with, say, the highly respected and eminently unbiased Dan Balz of the Washington Post. Expect Conan's joke to become part of the meme.

The McPain theory was to shove Sarah Palin down America's throats and thought we were too ignorant and dumb to do a background check or interview. I'm glad it back-fired because I am a person that doesn't take things at face value. Give me a littlel time to make up my own mind. And for Todd Palin -- if he had been minding the store, Bristol maybe would not have gotten herself into trouble. Both Palins should try staying at home and raising their family.

Obama isn't nearly as qualified as Palin. All he does is vote "present" at Congress. Check it out, it's on record. Obama also is the one who can't say anything without a teleprompter. He gaffes every time there is a malfunction or someone asks him a question. I'm also tired of the media pumping themselves up as these people who are so unbiased and reporting the news with impartiality "extraordinare". They're so biased and it's so obvious it's redundant to have to say so. But, they either don't/can't/won't see it or are just plain lying about it and hoping we don't notice. It's too bad we can't vote on them. They'd be out of a job!!

How about the "the highly respected and eminently unbiased" ABC News running a story with the headline, "Levi the Teen Dad Hits the Big Time"? It would be one thing if comics try to tar Palin with the "trailer park trash" label, as one comedienne has, but it's simply improper for "impartial" media do it, and absolutely inexcusable when the target isn't Palin herself but this teenager close to her.

And how about MSNBC running the line "How many houses does Palin add to the Republican ticket?" during their breaking news segment on McCain choosing her?

These are the clear personal biases of these writers and their newsrooms coming to the surface. But at least they're showing their true colors as they laugh up their sleeves.

A lot of people in the media have been saying that it's the media "just doing its job" with Palin. I wish it would "just do its job" with Obama and Democrats. This morning Obama was on "This Week," and Stephanopoulis asked how he felt to have his community organizing mocked. Where have the hard questions been about his community organizing? Obama's had a softball treatment by the media throughout his campaign. They usually don't ask the tough questions, and if they do, they don't follow up. They also don't dig deep. It's been well over a year, but is the American people now familiar with Saul Alinsky, the organizer who dedicated one of his books to Lucifer, and ACORN?

Dear Marylou,

you don't have to worry about your friend not voting for Obama because of the "ugliness surrounding him". Because 100 million Americans are not giving in to this attempt to smear his name.Obama is educated, intelligent and promises change. The way the country is today, anyone would be a fool not to vote for him.

Sara Palin is not qualified to be Vice President of the United States PERIOD!

Squall,

I'll stop at this point, but I just wanted to engage with you on your comments because I feel so strongly about the common practice of lumping all people of high income together and assuming that raising their taxes will not affect other Americans. My family paid over 60,000 in taxes last year, contributed over 20,000 to charity, yet we live in a house valued (generously, I might add) at $80,000 and we have two sons in college. We do not complain about paying taxes, but we certainly do worry about Obama's plans to raise those taxes, with both higher income and self-employment taxes. As I mentioned, we have one employee and would like to add another in the next year or two, but if taxes go up, we will not be able to afford to do that and might not be able to maintain the worker we have now. Will that really help the economy?

A friend told me today that she won't vote for Obama because of all the ugliness surrounding him.

Good point. How can one man attract so many nuts and inspire so much hate?

Posted by: marylou | Sep 7, 2008 3:59:55 AM

Palin does not owe any to media who has done injustice to her and her family. Why will she give in to them after all they have done to her?
You disciples of OBAMA just show the real skin of your messiah. I hope that Hillary will open her eyes and think the bandwagon she's riding in the name of UNITY. Anybody standing on his (Obama) way will be dishonored and insulted irregardless of your gender, family, children. It's his ego. And that's how he defines CHANGE in his rhetoric. Have you realized why the media is so AFRAID of him? It's so very clear why the media is hailing their godfather Obama. He has half a billion of cash for the media, himself and his chihuahuas. Why do you think his donors
will invest that much?
I know what you meant when you said before that Obama is not qualified and just talk. Don't give in to his ego, just what Palin is doing to the media.

Oops, pushed 'post' too soon-

"The implication that he "deserves" higher taxes because he is not a hard-working person is simply ludicrous, as well as offensive. "
- Terry

Its only offensive when its not true...well...maybe not necessarily, because lazy people usually are in denial of their lack of hard work and half decent work ethic. You do deserve higher taxes.

Posted by: Squall | Sep 7, 2008 12:41:11 AM

Oops, pushed "post" too soon. Squall, you are incorrect in assuming that those making over 250K all have desk jobs. My husband works with his hands in a smelly, dirty environment, which is why his labor is worth the big bucks he earns through superior skills and a work ethic that cannot be beaten. We know several other individuals in similar industrial engineering/maintenance jobs who also earn over 250K annually, and they too are "blue-collar"; that is, they work with their hands, they get dirty, they put in long hours.

Posted by: Terry | Sep 6, 2008 10:02:51 PM

Squall,

You may need to rethink your characterization of those making over 250,000 a year. My husband and I own a small business and we now make that much each year. We are an LLP, so our income flows through to our individual tax returns and we pay a ton of taxes. We certainly know how to work hard--- our business consists of the two of us and one recently-hired subcontractor. My husband works 7 days a week, over 60 hours a week, every week. (He has the skills upon which we base our business-- I just run the office) The implication that he "deserves" higher taxes because he is not a hard-working person is simply ludicrous, as well as offensive.

"But if you make over $250,000 you are going to be taking care of people with your hard-earned money." Cindy N inc.

Trust me, anyone who makes more than 250k/year does not know the meaning of hard work. Anyone who says any different is more than likely one of the people making that much...seriously gimme a break. Unless you are a low-middle class citizen that is or has worked hard, manual and physical labor, and I mean HARD labor, you know nothing about the meaning of hard work.

Getting paid 250k a year for sitting around a desk all day...wow... can't believe people actually get paid big money for crap like that. Gimme a break.

My democratic party is taking in donations on a 10-1 ratio over McCain-Bush, and has an increase in registered voters as high as 324% over the republicants in many areas.

That's what my Democratic Party is doing.

Thanks to Sarah Palin.

This election will come down to whether the "base" of the Republican party, the white racist vote, turns out in big numbers. They always vote Republican, and the fact that Obama is half black will probably make them turn out in bigger than normal numbers. Even if the Democrats ran the second coming of the "Deity", Ronald Reagan, if he had dark skin the "base" would not vote for him.

lighten up, you guys. Just sit back and enjoy the joke. Isn't that what lieberman suggested?

Posted by: bristol | Sep 6, 2008 6:20:34 PM

What has happened to my Democratic party? Maybe it is the new voters Obama has inspired. I have to say I don't like them at all. I hope any women thinking of voting for Mccain will vote for Nader/Gonzalez.

Posted by: Tina | Sep 6, 2008 5:51:29 PM

Well - I did CHANGE my party - the GOP will be happy to count my vote since obama and the DNC blocked it!
Our votes will be counted loud & clear in November for McCain/Palin!
