McCain listed social security and medicare in his balanced budget farce as a area to cut.

McCain refuses to provide any information about how to fund the social security shortage. The media are guilty for not pushing McCain for details. It is an extremely important area.

"The real problem here is that McCain's campaign is swarming with 26 advisers or fundraisers who have lobbied for Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac--including nearly a dozen who lobby right now"

What a loon.

Obama took more money from the criminals at fred and fannie in 3 years than anyone else took in 8 year.

"they all (meaning Republicans) believe in a unfettered free market (prove me wrong, boys and girls) which is largely responsible for the biggest economic meltdown since the big D."

Well, we certainly know now how unfettered lending to people who can't or won't pay them back turns out, don't we sweetie?

So, Jake, looks like you got your facts wrong about Obama linking McCain's campaign to Phil Gramm. See cincyr's post. They won't deny that Phil Gramm, arguably the biggest promoter of deregulation while in Congress and probably still believes in it since they all (meaning Republicans) believe in a unfettered free market (prove me wrong, boys and girls) which is largely responsible for the biggest economic meltdown since the big D.

The McCain campaign has hinted that Phil Gramm could be considered for Treasury Secretary.

And McCain spokesperson Tucker Bounds, just this last Sunday would not flat out say that Gramm would not be included in a McCain administration. Why not?

Romano - "The real problem here is that McCain's campaign is swarming with 26 advisers or fundraisers who have lobbied for Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac--including nearly a dozen who lobby right now"

Hypocrisy thy name is McCain.

belle:
the 'story' goes back a lot further than that:
go over to Daily KOS (if you dare) and read the rest:
"Three Times is Enemy Action"

"In 1982, the same year John McCain entered the Senate, a bill was put forward that would substantially deregulate the Savings and Loan industry. The Garn-St. Germain Depository Institutions Act was an initiative of the Reagan administration, and was largely authored by lobbyists for the S&L industry -- including John McCain's warm-up speaker at the convention, Fred Thompson. The official description of the bill was "An act to revitalize the housing industry by strengthening the financial stability of home mortgage lending institutions and ensuring the availability of home mortgage loans." Considering where things stand in 2008, that may sound dubious. It should.

Seven years later, the S&L industry was collapsing. What was the cause? Garn-St. Germain handed the S&Ls a greatly expanded range of capabilities, allowing them to go head to head with full service banks, but it didn't give them the bank's regulations.cranked out enough cheap mortgages to fuel a real estate boom. They also experimented with lots of complex, creative -- and risky -- investments, even though they didn't have the economic models to really determine the worth of the things they were buying. The result was a mountain of bad debts and worthless "assets."ranked out enough cheap mortgages to fuel a real estate boom.

They also experimented with lots of complex, creative -- and risky -- investments, even though they didn't have the economic models to really determine the worth of the things they were buying. The result was a mountain of bad debts and worthless "assets." Does any of that sound eerily (or nauseatingly) familiar?"

I dont doubt you!

"the scorecard isn't fudged"

The method of the ranking and the source that provides the information is involved in far to many Controversies to be believed. Its a republican party tool that along with its lobbyists link makes me say its result are worth nothing!

"Barack Obama founded Public Allies in Chicago in 1992, and Michelle Obama became the executive director. The group uses tax payer dollars to pay people who sign up."
-----
It's actually pretty important -- and will be MORE important -- that the mob-friendly Obama (and the corporate Ayers family) were in the forefront of converting previously-democratic areas of social action into "non-profit" (i.e., NOT tax-paying, and answerable only to their bogus little boards) corporations.

Posted by: Belle Starr | Sep 22, 2008 2:35:19 PM

Public Allies is an American non-profit, largely taxpayer-funded organization, dedicated to youth leadership development. Founded in 1992 by Vanessa Kirsch and Katrina Browne in Washington D.C., other sites soon followed

Meet the Press Interview:

TIM RUSSERT: The fact is you are different than George Bush.

SEN. McCAIN: No. No. The fact is that I have agreed with President Bush far more than I have disagreed. And on the transcendent issues, the most important issues of our day, I’ve been totally in agreement and support of President Bush.

THAT ABOUT SUMS IT UP.

THANKS "MAVERICK"!

No, I am not basing my vote for him on that alone. But Obama's record is public knowledge, and the scorecard isn't fudged ...
I will look into the group, I like to get my information from several sources, because everyone always has their bias. That is why I don't just watch Fox News and always do my own fact checking and never rely on Jake Taper alone.

"There has been a lot of talk about who is to blame for this crisis. A look back at the story of 2005 makes the answer pretty clear."

The prohibition on posting links gets in the way of info, but "Search" the above at bloomberg.

The worse the economic situation looks, the more Obama is likely to lose.

Actually Obama's numbers jumped after the announcement of the Wall Street collapse.

But you hold on to your dreams. You've still got a few weeks before reality sets in.
