Female Democratic Guv: Palin a 'Novelty' for Republicans

September 10, 2008 12:30 AM

Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, a longtime supporter of Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., said of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin that "certainly there's an initial excitement about having a woman on the ticket. It's a novelty ... the Democrats had a female on the ticket 24 years ago."

Continued Sebelius, "That will get an amount of attention, but at the bottom line, I think voters, male and female, will be looking at who is going to lead this country, what direction they're going to take us."

First of all, nobody has proved dinosaurs were here more that 5000 years ago. Second, God chose Sarah Palin, not McCain, in answer to Christian's prayer and the feminists snubbing her is the proof, as feminism is anti-Christ. Ironically, it took a God fearing woman to shut down the biggest onslaught to the American Family: The Feminazi. God Bless America- The America that God fearing American Men and Women built throughout the generations, not the gay-pride, female-dominace of the modern age. Perhaps Palin is our first indication God hasn't turned from us sinning hypocrites and has a little mercy left for us. McCain chose her for popularity reasons, of course, but God may very well work through her office boldly and mightily. Don't get mad at me for saying so. Read your Bible and watch God work through a willing servant. That's what's on the radar :)

Just a thought, but to those still pondering whether to view Gov. Palin as either a joke or worthy of serious consideration, I suggest your answer to the following might be instructive: (a) assume that the McCain-Palin ticket fails in November; and (b) further assume that the VP on the losing ticket is almost always considered the early front-runner for his/her party's nomination four years later. Now, ask yourself: Will I be a Palin for President supporter in 2012 -- starting November 5, 2008? If you don't answer with an energetic "Yes" or, even, "probably", that should tell you a great deal about your choice in November.

Nice one Beckie, so you've taken the Pontious Pilate was a governor argument to be interpreted as "her opinion doesn't matter". So how'd you come by that leap of logic.

Real mental giants....

***We all need to get away from these gender issues.***

AMEN! We need most of all to get away from the Palin minions calling every criticism of her a "gender issue" and "sexism" when those criticism have nothing to do with her gender: experience, possible gubernatorial malfeasance, misrepresentation of past positions and political actions, and on and on.

Republicans, you can only get away with this for so long, then one day soon you're going to wake up thinking you're still getting away with it, and you'll read the latest polls, and the polls will have shifted to actual issues, and your train will have left the station without you. Sorry about that.

The troopers are coming.

Sen. Obama is tougher than McCain/Palin will ever be. I so admire how he couragesly faced the anti-abortion evangelicals with Rick Warren, even though he knew they disapproved of him and his views. I love how he went toe to toe with Bill O'Rielly, and aggressively answered every question thrown at him. Who has McCain faced lately? I'd love to see a interview Palin and Al Sharpton or James Carvel. There is no way neither McCain or Palin would ever have the guts to do what Sen. Obama did. Eventhough every answer was not perfect, I enthusastically applaud his boldness.

Dont you ladies understand that McCain is using Palin to get your vote.If he wins,Palin will not matter to the GOP. Not her opinion, for womens rights, not her opinion on the war, nothing. She will be told to sit down and shut up. WATCH AND SEE!! Now, I guess that's change since the VP has never been a token before.

I forgot to add - Sebelius is only a governor - just a regular puntius pilot!According to BHO and his minions, her views don't count - sorry!

I have just finished reading the reponses, and being an old Democrat (started with JFK) was appalled by the Hate , lies, and outright disprepect towards a woman who none of you have ever met.I have watched my party degenerate ro a socolist party of hate!

Alot of you guys thoughts are regressive.Gender and race is NOT important in this race.If that is your major reason for choosing a candidate or ticket you are wrong and practicing discrimination under a very misguided value system. For this country, for the millions of it's inhabitants, we need an administration that promotes inclusiveness to all.America as a whole is far behind in the acheivement gap compared to rising foreign nations.Look closely, mostly everything you buy is made in another country.Especially electronics.Bottom line. Both candidates have a love for this country.I beleive every eight years we need an admistration to balance out the interests of this country.

Sharonkilm- It's a fact that there's more corruption in Chicago than anywhere else. Furthermore, Obama's "community organizer" days were with ACORN, which was charged with voter fraud among other things. In 2001, Obama steered $75,000 to a south side charity called Forum,Inc. Records showed that 5 employees had donated $1,000 each to his state campaign. When the Attorney General filed charges, Obama quietly returned the $5,000. Obama announced in April of 2001 a $225,000 grant to St. Sabina Church where the infamous Father Pflagar resides after giving Obama's campaign over $1,500. Maybe you forgot that Obama got a good real estate deal with felon Tony Rezco? Or that Obama got his wife a huge raise, like a 320% one at that? I'm sure that you can't concede that in the Alaska congress, the head Democrat even has talked about Palin's workability across party lines. Poverty in Chicago did not go down, in fact, there were more killings in Chicago than in Iraq. Obama LOVES pork spending, that's why he'd rather talk about Palin. He's asked for almost $1 billion in pork spending. The group Citizens Against Gov't. Waste had McCain rated at 100% in 2007, while Obama had a dismal 10% and Joe Biden with 0%.

McCain is now stuck in a bind. His first rally without Palin will be so poorly attended that the media will highlight it all over, and show McCain how poorly valued he is by the Republican base.
He cannot afford to let her go campaign alone.

That’s why he is not going to have any rallies when she is in Alaska for the rest of the week. What a chicken?!! Wonder what his campaign is going to spin this as: 'John needs to rest his sorry behind for a while'.

This will be a great opening for Obama to take center-stage.

We all need to get away from these gender issues. I am a woman and "ISSUES" are what is important. Some are mad Obama did not chose Hilary. This is really difficult to do. Obama and Clinton had a long fought battle. Things were said in ads and can cause immense problems. I believe there were also some ill feelings on both sides. Choosing a running partner involve many things. As a woman I am looking at how issues will be addressed in America.

I too looked at Sarah Palin. The FBI has been doing investigation up in Alaska since 2004. This was long before Palin even elected Governor. She did not clean up the government of corruption. They did not investigation - their government was being investigated.

FACT - FBI did it all. 11 Republican legislators indicted + lobbyists + oil company executives. No Democrats

I can't go Republican when Alaska is full of corrupt Republicans. Palin is under investigation herself. I see she is popular because people up there feel corrupt politicians are being ousted. Palin didn't do this. FBI did.

Go Google Alaska Political Corruption. Read for yourself.

And I can't take another ofur years

I believe that McCain/Palin are not going to win and are trouble.

Obama/Biden represent real change. The Republicans have had 8 years of bringing untold anarchy and pain to the world. Remember Clinton the fighting was jostling in Camp David b/w Isreal and Palestine leaders not bombings and terrorism.

A brute begets trouble but an idealist brings peace. We need peace after the last 8years so by the Grace of GOD Democrats will bring peace and prosperity again to the world.

Jake

Yes, Sarah Palin is "The New Novelty" to this campaign. This happens way too often. Public at large have tendency to forget "the issues".

I hope everyone gets over all of this and gets back to what candidates should be talking about.

America is a disaster! Election is close and things that concern us most are being ignored.

Concerned in OH,
So a little a sexism is perfectly alright when directed to Democrats, right? More hypocrisy.

Palin is a bridge to no where and MCCain is driving on that bridge.....

Posted by: ronnieraygun | Sep 10, 2008 12:10:22 PM

Kathleen who? Oh yes the other woman Obama passed over for VP. Please, Please keep talking Barrack and please keep sending your people out to smear Palin it is working out great for McCain. All of you on here keep up the great work you are all doing for the McCain campaign. Obama went to Harvard? really it does not show.

I think the Pig thing is even a very kind word use.

Posted by: SARAH-LIE | Sep 10, 2008 11:37:35 AM

So, wait...she's saying that ANY woman who has a shot at high office is a novelty?

---------------

Um, no. One more time. I'll use small words and type slowly. A Woman GOP VP pick is novel. Never happened before. So it's new. It's unusual (the meanings of "novel"). Why are you guys so intent on twisting these words out of all recognition?

It's clear that women in high office are no novelty: Supreme Court, Cabinet, high ranking military, scads of senators, congressmen, and governors.

What's novel is africano elected officials in high office. Supreme court? Two in history. Senate? Two currently (Obama is one), five in history. Colin Powell. Condi Rice. Two elected governors, three succeeded to office.

That's why, I think, Clinton had such a hard row to hoe -- a woman just wasn't as big a deal as an africano, even for the biggest spot on the ticket. People were more inspired by the latter possibility (among other things). Sadly for Clinton, Obama showed up at the wrong time and rained on her parade. *Her* novelty was old hat by comparison. Plus she is a strident witch with husband-baggage from hell.
