Obama-Backing Congressman: ‘Jesus Was a Community Organizer, Pontius Pilate a Governor’
September 10, 2008 12:43 PM
Last seen in election 2008 comparing Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., to the villain played by Glenn Close in "Fatal Attraction" -- having survived an anti-Semitic primary challenge -- Rep. Steve Cohen, D-Tenn., feels liberated to come on the House floor and say that "Barack Obama was a community organizer like Jesus...Pontias Pilate was a governor."
Prediction: the Democrats will soon put him in a sack and throw him in a basement.

You have heard that it was said, "Jesus was a Community Organizer and Pontius Pilot was a Governor", but I tell you the truth, "Jesus is coming again and Governor Palin is READY!"

The disturbing thought is that our country has stooped to the lowest point ever. When a political group has the gall to compare their candidate to Jesus Christ (also in a way that is untruthful and inaccurate at that), it is a sad day in America. May God's will prevail in this country and may the lessons we need to learn be taught to us. Starting with being humble servants to our country and each other. Stop your bragging, you have nothing to brag about. Just be quiet and tell what you can do or have done. It's not about Jesus running for office it's about you. What have you done lately? Are you a strong leader that makes good decisions? Was your very first major decision a mistake? (Biden)

To A3K, who asked about John McCain's low rank at the Naval Academy.
John McCain graduated near the bottom of his class, but he did graduate. The Naval Academy is not your average college; the standards (academic and behavior) are VERY high and you can get thrown out for not meeting them.
BTW, Jimmy Carter graduated near the top of his class from the Naval Academy, so I don't think someone's rank at this fine institution tells us much.

In taking this comparison to the next level...here's hoping that Governor Palin can crucify the dems "messiah" in the voting booths in November

Jesus was never a community organizer. Community organizers go out and gather the people. Jesus would simply show up and the people would start following Him.
He never organized a community.

Jake,
I keep seeing posts at various sites describing McCain's poor class rank. So I was curious what Obama's class ranks were at Columbia and Harvard Law, but no information seems to exist in the public sphere. Considering Biden's prior false claims about his own class rank, wouldn't it be worth considering asking the Obama campaign to release Obama's transcripts from college and law school? It should resolve several open questions.

I wonder how Obama is explaining this to all of the governors who support him?
If someone has the time (and I'm sure it won't take long) can someone explain to me why Obama is qualified to be President?
Obama supporters should read his books. He discusses his failures as a community organizer. Jeez. He couldn't even organize a tiny suburb of Chicago, and now he wants to run the US.
Certainly he must be kidding?

The Democrats--bless their little hearts--are grasping at straws here. They have become what they most despised about Republicans.
To suggest that Obama is the Messiah sure puts religion at the forefront. I thought that was a no-no with liberals. But then again, since Obama has no other qualification, he best be Jesus or he doesn't stand a chance at winning the election, but more importantly, running the US effectively.
I swear this is the screwiest election ever.
The Democrats are now a parody of themselves.
Someone wake me up from this nightmare.

It's scaring you all think Obama is the next Jesus Christ and the Fixer of all things bad. Without bashing Republicans go back 2 years and see what Obama's views were and what they are now. See how many issues he has changed on. Then see how many actually match up to those in the middle of the road and are more of the same.. You will learn he is at best a great speaker and panderer of those who want to believe he is the second coming. I am FAR from a McCain fan but I can believe he is looking out for what is good for this country and not looking to make it the next European alliance

So you didn't like my explaination as to what a community organizer might be.
Someone who hangs out with Bill Ayers for 20 years thinking of new reasons to hate America... What's wrong with that?

Bill Clinton was a Governor. He was also President. I guess Governors DO know more than community organizers. Wht the hell is a community organizer? Has Obama/Jesus ever explained exactly it is he did as a community organizer?

I'm personally offended as a person, not just a Christian, that anyone would compare Obama to Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ was not interested in power unlike Mr. Obama. Maybe Mr. Cohen, and the others that have used this analogy should read and try to understand the Bible before they make political reference to it-and these are people that so want to seperate church and state!

Didnt mccain call on people to serve the community or country in his convention speech HIPOCRITE CALLING ON PEOPLE TO DO COMMUNITY SERVICE THEN MOCKING AND BASHING OBAMA FOR IT THAT MAN AND THE GOP ARE VERY SAD BEINGS!

Rep.Steve Cohen should be talking about the mundane Kingdom he knows. He should live Christ the Son of God ,The Messiah in peace in His Father heavenly abode. Lately God and Jesus are becoming very handy for certain political personalities.

With regards to Democratic Representive
Steve Cohen's remark that "Jesus Christ
was a Community Organizer, and Pontius Pilate was a governor", it would clearly behoove Rep. Cohen to read and become familiar with the New Testament in order to avoid making stupid statements.
Christ never involved himself in politics, jobs, or organizations. His
only committee consisted of His Apostles, and dedicated believers.
Although He advocated giving to the "poor", He was advising us to "lay up treasures in Heaven" with "acts of kindness", having nothing to do with Community Organizations. Jesus came only to show His "Plan for Salvation".

See, this how they lost all of the women voters. Get it now -- HEY, GET IT NOW?????

The Repubs are trying to put this apin on him to include him with in with "professional activists " like Al S. , Jesse J. SR etc whose agenda is ultimately about gaining power and money mostly for themselves not the causes the the pretend to advocate for . Obama is not one of them .
Posted by: Pete | Sep 11, 2008 7:34:58 AM
Well somebody had to put that "she's a Governor" crap in its proper context.
Obama 08!

"Community" and "organizer" are such vague words that "community organizer" could mean a lot of things, depending on how you want to define it. It isn't the same thing as "community service" and in Obama's case, it is tied up with leftist movements, including Saul Alinsky's, the Saul Alinsky who dedicated one of his books to Lucifer, "the very first radical."

Oh, yeah. God himself - Zerobameus, God of Nothingness - ascended into the Temple of Doom on top of Mile High.
