Obama Implies McCain Puts Other Countries First
September 12, 2008 4:05 PM
A pretty scathing charge from Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., this morning as he spoke to the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers and assailed Sen. John McCain's, R-Ariz., position on free trade.
"Just ask the machinists in Pennsylvania who build Harley-Davidsons," Obama said of McCain's record. "Because John McCain didn’t just oppose the requirement that the government buy American-made motorcycles, he called Buy American provisions 'disgraceful.' Just ask the workers across this country who have seen their jobs outsourced. The very companies that shipped their jobs overseas have been rewarded with billions of dollars in tax breaks that John McCain supports and plans to continue.
"So, when American workers hear John McCain talking about putting 'Country First,'" Obama said, "it’s fair to ask –- which country?"
Um ... isn't that pretty much the dictionary definition of questioning someone's patriotism?

" meanest, nastiest campaign ever"
Oh, pauly, pauly, pauly, repeating somebody's words back to them isn't mean and nasty - it's called the truth.

"what is playing out is racism plain and simple.for when the likes of Palin start becoming a model for our children ,,,The USA is all but lost....." blah, blah, blah. Keep showing the world how crazy liberalism is. Keep it up! You're winning this election for John McCain that way! Thanks!!!!!!

Taxes have gone down in the last 8 years but jobs have gone off-shore at an increasing rate. So the argument made below makes no sense. You used to be able to get away with making statements like that in the past, but now there is a track record. I am not for big increases in taxes but making statements like the one below are ridiculous.

Where is discussion on the National-International Issues? Palin is not the issue!
Sarah Palin, the 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate, is a beautiful lady. What else can you tell me about her? Is she qualified to be the President of the United States?
In contrast to many very highly qualified Republican ladies, such as Dr. Condoleezza Rice, Sarah Palin has equivalent high school knowledge in some fields, and not at all in the others. In 1984, Palin won the Miss Wasilla Pageant, then finished third (second runner-up) in the Miss Alaska pageant, at which she won a college scholarship and the "Miss Congeniality" award. Palin admits to trying cannabis as a youth, during the time Alaska had decriminalized possession though she says she did not enjoy it.
Palin spent her first college semester at Hawaii Pacific College, transferring in 1983 to North Idaho College and then to the University of Idaho. She attended Matanuska-Susitna College in Alaska for one term, returning to the University of Idaho to complete her Bachelor of Science degree in communications-journalism, graduating in 1987.
Did Senator McCain think choosing a family advocating separation of Alaska from the United States would buy my vote?
I am disappointed with Sen. John McCain’s selection; he chose such a feather weight person to represent the Republican Party. Did he think that American women would vote for him because he selected a female rather than a male for the ticket? Senator McCain, please stop insulting the American women?
As you have stated yourself, you had voted 95% of the times in the Senate along the President Bush's policies. Senator McCain, the issues during this election are: job, economy, medical insurance, infrastructure, education, and failed policy of the President Bush. As President Ronald Reagan once stated: Are we better now than 4 years ago? No, my family is worse than 8 years ago.
Should I vote for Bush-McCain policies once more? Tell me why I should!
Sarah Palin is not the issue nor is Paris Hilton.

Obama is getting desperate and is making mistakes. It will be interesting to see if McCain can take advantage, or if Barack (middle name can't be spoken) Obama will wind up being hoisted on his own petard.

If Senator Obama has his way, he will tax employers out of business. What will that do to the employment situation in this country? Senator McCain wants to implement programs that will help increase employment. That way, the American people can pay for their own mortgages and health care. Obama's plan depends on the government to pay! He will, however, be using our tax money to do so! And, if Obama starts questioning Senator McCain's loyalty to this country, he will be in for a long two months!

Funny it is the libs that are pushing the jobs over seas because of the taxes they lay upon businesses along with the mandates.
If the liberal Congress allowed drilling the economy would be fine right now, but they will not because they want to destroy the economy for political gain!!

I knew Obama was a lightweight vapid fool, enamored of his own manufactured facade' but this is possibly the most stupid thing he's said to date.

To poster Jesus, etc.:
You're right. It is right to question Palin's associations. Obama was married BY rev wright and sat "in that church for 20 years" while Palin MARRIED a man that was a member of the AIP. Wright's comments are misunderstood, but there is NO WAY TO MISUNDERSTAND membership into the AIP. Guess Palin's hubby felt it was better to keep her, too, because look at all the oil they'll get to profit from at the expense of our environment.

You name is not fitting.
Obama/Biden 08! END THE MADNESS, YES WE CAN!!

"So, when American workers hear John McCain talking about putting 'Country First,'" Obama said, "it’s fair to ask –- which country?"
poor Obama has lost it. Mentally, he's over the edge.

Ohbama implies MANY things.....in his
dogged campaign through our 57 states.
Now if can imply that he's sorry for
comments about "those bitter Americans",
he may pick up a vote or two from those
Bible and gun-toting riff-raff........
....or not.

I guess this is some of that 'overheated rhetoric' Obama is famous for.
1. Obama talked a lot of baloney about NAFTA.
2. Obama's economic advisor Goolsbee gave secret assurances to Canada that Obama's NAFTA speech was just a bunch of campaign baloney.
3. Obama lied about Goolsbee when he got caught.
4. Then Obama admitted he was tallking a bunch of campaign baloney about NAFTA all along.

Woody, thank you, I worked hard on the snark. Would it help if I said Ghandi was a community organizer? He was, too, you know.
As for questioning McCain's patriotism, why the hell not? This is not snark. McCain has consciously selected someone with separatist tendencies to be his Vice President! Seriously, this doesn't bother you all? Why not? I confess, I am terrified of losing Alaska to Canada, or god forbid, Russia.

Jesus was a community organizer,
Thanks for the snarky remarks. Now let me ask you this, how many swing votes does Barack hope to capture by questioning McCain's patriotism? He's not helping himself at all with these comments.
BTW, Jesus was most certainly not a community organizer. He was concerned with saving souls, not seeking additional funding for Head Start. Not that there's anything wrong with that, just please don't try to equate the two. On second thought, go right ahead. That's another catch phrase that's driving people away from Obama. Likening Obama to Jesus, there's a winning strategy.

Stephen from Indiana, no, what works here seems to be lying and thievery. Such nice midwestern values. Good for you.

One wonders, would Sarah Palin prefer to be Vice President of the US, or President of Alaska?
When will our allegedly liberal press gonna ask her that? Isn't that kind of important to know about someone running for high office? Does she really believe in an indivisible nation?

Poor Obama. He´d have more chances if he run for prime minister in Germany. Maybe his flowery speeches fascinate europeans, but it doesn´t work out here.

So true, whch country is McCain putting first? Is it a country he is putting first or corporations? His own ambitions. I really hope everyone reads about the new Cindy McCain articles. It isn't putting country first voting and advocating and employing people who lobbied for outsourcing to help a MULTINATIONAL corps bottom line
