Obama Shrugs Off GOP Convention Attacks: 'I've Been Called Worse Names on the Basketball Court'

September 04, 2008 4:43 PM

"What did you guys expect?' asked Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., when a reporter asked him if he would change his strategy and attack his Republican opponents more, now that they're full-throatedly attacking him.

"Right?" Obama continued. "I mean, I anticipated this last Thursday in my acceptance speech. This is what they do. They don't have an agenda to run on. They haven't offered a single concrete idea, so far in two nights, about how they would make the lives of middle-class Americans better. They've spent the entire two nights attacking me or extolling John McCain's biography, which is fine. They can use their convention time any way they want, but you can't expect that I'd be surprised about attacks from Republicans. And by the way, you know, I've been called worse on the basketball court. It's not that big of a deal."

Asked what he's been called on the basketball court, Obama said -- as he was getting on his bus -- "you'd have to bleep it out."

More nasty attacks, and some very personal mocking, this won't resonate with female voters, only white trash from woods. Watch the republicans not even get a bounce, prob a loss in polls...

Didn't even talk about issue #1,(economy) spent all their time attacking another American. Thats not gonna solve our problems

"Obama, Biden and his 300 advisors didn't see Sarahcuda coming and were caught flat-footed"

True. They had no attacks to feed the media. That's why the media went to DailyKos for thier unspeakable vulgar attacks on Palin.

--Samatha--Boy have you been fooled again by the GREAT LIAR. He did not remove it. He told someone else to do it. He did not get his hands dirty.

Manitu -

Obama knew long ago he wanted to go on The O'Reilly Factor on this specific night.

It's called having a good strategy.

i am so sick of these christian conservatives telling me what i should do or what is evil. what about the war in iraq or the poor in this country and the entire world? what about the environment? all i hear is abortion and sex and the rapture. maybe if these christians would get raptured this country could start solving poverty, healthcare and maybe we could finally have world peace. maybe i should pray on it.

Obama has boycotted Fox News for 19 months.

If he can't stand up to Brit Hume, how can he possibly negotiate with our nation's enemies?

The posts from the libs all have pretty much one thing in common - COMPLETE ABSENCE OF ANY INTELLIGENT DIALOG ON THE CRITICAL ISSUES. I HAVE BEEN BLOGGING ON THIS SITE FOR ANOUT SIX MONTHS NOW, AND HAVE FOUND FEW, REALLY GOOD BLOGGERS FROM THE LEFT - MOST JUST WANT TO NAME CALL AND DIG UP DIRT. ACTUALLY, OBAMA HAS A REALLY DIFFICULT TIME GOING INTO DEPTH ON THE ISSUES, ALSO.

You missed 1 Peach

From North Idaho College, Palin transferred 70 miles south to the University of Idaho, the state's flagship institution. She majored in journalism with an emphasis in broadcast news. She attended Idaho, whose mascot is the Vandals, from fall 1984 to spring 1985.

She then returned to Alaska to attend Matanuska-Susitna College in Palmer in fall 1985.

Then she returned to Idaho, for spring 1986, fall 1986 and spring 1987, when she graduated.

Hillary is back baby, what is Hillary doing Monday? Is she stomping for Obama?

Lance - Sarah attended 3 colleges, not 5 or 6. She attended Hawaii Pacific for 1 semester in 1982. Transferred in 1983 to N Idaho Colllege. In '87, she received her degree from the University of Idaho.

The critical plls are these:

The Electoral battleground (toss-up) state match up shows how close this race really is:

(RCP Average of all polls) McCain vs. Obama (battleground states)

Nevada (5): McCain +1.0

Colorado (9): Obama +0.4

New Mexico (5): Obama +4.3

Michigan (17): Obama +4.3

Ohio: McCain (20) +1.2

Virginia (13): Tie

North Carolina (15): McCain +4.2

New Hampshire: Obama (4) +0.3

Florida (27): McCain +3.1

TOTAL TOSSUP STATE DELEGATES: 115

McCain: 67

Obama: 35

Tied: 13

Without toss-up states:

Barack Obama 273 John McCain 265

Expect further tightening of the race after to polls reflect last night.
