Oh, That Joe! (No. 11 in a Series) -- 'Stand Up, Chuck!'
September 12, 2008 7:09 AM
Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., loves to give shout-outs to the crowd, but this week in Columbia, Mo., he gave one he'd probably like to have back.
"Stand up, Chuck, let 'em see ya," Biden asked Chuck Graham, a state senator.
A nice enough gesture.
Only problem is, Graham is in a wheelchair.
A second or two passed awkwardly....
"God love ya, what am I talking about?" Biden asked himself. "You can tell I'm new."
And then Biden got on with his stump speech....

Biden should make people vote
for the Dem ticket.
That would be harder for him
than making the lame walk.

I am not one to give Joe any breaks but on this one he deserves a break just as Pres Bush deserved one on the blind reporters sunglasses.
Joe handeled it well I think, fast on his feet

Jake: I thought this one got past you, nice catch.
I heard the audio - Simply hilarious!
I look forward to more "Oh, That Joe!" - I'm sure it won't be long until next post...

Obama and Biden are like Bert and Ernie!
I have to laugh after all Obama's talk about change and he picks one of the oldest DC creeps he could find. Good job spineless devil. Palin has more experience next to Obama's purported community organizing. McCain actually served our country while Obama and Rev Wright were defiling it!

Biden did not just continue with his stump speech. You missed his save — he walked over to the man and asked the crowd to stand for him. Which they did.

Presumably this was Graham's big chance to throw down his wheelchair for an altar call with The One.
Does the neo-"Democratic" ticket remind anybody of Jim Jones' People's Temple, Jonestown, and all that -- which was enabled mostly by Democrats, and by the see-no-evil media? It does me.

Biden's a complete buffoon.

"GIBSON: Do you agree with the Bush doctrine?
PALIN: In what respect, Charlie?
GIBSON: The Bush -- well, what do you -- what do you interpret it to be?
PALIN: His world view.
GIBSON: No, the Bush doctrine, enunciated September 2002, before the Iraq war.
PALIN: I believe that what President Bush has attempted to do is rid this world of Islamic extremism, terrorists who are hell bent on destroying our nation. There have been blunders along the way, though. There have been mistakes made. And with new leadership, and that's the beauty of American elections, of course, and democracy, is with new leadership comes opportunity to do things better.
GIBSON: The Bush doctrine, as I understand it, is that we have the right of anticipatory self-defense, that we have the right to a preemptive strike against any other country that we think is going to attack us. Do you agree with that?"
Gibson asked for her interpretation. She gave it. Gibson asks the question after Palin answers. Palin's answer is fine. Bush was talking about fighting terrorism.
More obama-media spears.

Give Biden a break. Didn't Kerry-Edwards claim they would allow Chistopher Reeves to walk again?

Biden just proves what we all knew:
BO has poor judgement by not picking Hillary
BO was too arrogant to admit he needed Hillary
BO isn't for real change since he picked an old Washington insider.
Biden is a gasbag. But a nice guy and too good for BO.

Senator Joe Biden will get better at this and will make less mistakes. We all know he comes from a good place and heart. Also hes not afraid to go mainstream talk shows and reach out to us. The moderators stick to the issues which Senator Joe Biden is excellent on the issues on our minds.
Senator Joe Biden's finest moment may be the debates. This time Palin has to take direct questions from the moderators. Senator Joe Biden's answers will show the contrast between both parties.
Senator Joe Biden has been debating powerful Republican Women Senators day in and day out. The Senate is not like the congress where we heard a Republican Congressman threaten to bite a Democrat one time. Senator debates are more civil.

The difference being that Joe Biden could answer the questions without having to be sequestered and tutored by McCain lackeys for 2 weeks.
This isn't something where you can learn the lines and get a free pass! You have to know the underlying material.
She's the foremost energy expert in the United States according to John McCain --- who knew?!!!

Charlie Gibson is a lousey interviewer.I didn't want to know his feelings I wanted to know more about Palin. I hope the other anchors do a better job!

I love him...this is funny
not knowing what the Bush doctrine as you are running to be the back up for the leader of the free world
...is not.

You did leave out one part - he asked the crowd instead to stand up for Chuck, which was a respectable recovery under the circumstances.

I did not like the way Charlie Gibson interviewed Sarah Palin last night. Ask Joe Biden the same questions and see how he answers them. I've always thought Charlie was above that kind of bias. I'll watch Katie more and Charlie less. Thank you.

Actually Biden recovered well -- and you guys know I don't like the Obama-Biden ticket.

Biden only forgot that Obama wasn't with him to lay hands on the guy and make him walk again.

Our image can't get worse than that of the crybaby republicans. Ohh boohoo I can't get my way.
What a bunch of whining self righteous hypocrites the republicans are.

Selection of Biden by Obama was more of a surprise to me vs. McCain's pick of Palin. For someone who is all about "change" in Washington, he certainly contradicted himself by picking someone so entrenched in the Washington scene, who apparently doesn't think before he talks. The surprise of Obama's not picking a woman was the real surprise. I'm sure there are qualified women who could have been an asset, not an anchor.

Does this mean if they are elected, instead of Bushisms we can have Bidenisms.
Posted by: samhiguchi | Sep 12, 2008 7:28:04 AM
If Joe Biden becomes President (because of any situation) our image would be far worse than it is right now. This was Obama's first choice of the "best" American has to offer? Perhaps he was chosen to make Obama look better?
